...Despite having a home pc it is sometimes necessary to have access to one when not at home I therefore decided the time had come to invest in a laptop. Like desktops there are numerous makes models and specifications available. As with a lot of things it is a balancing act between prices and features and eventually I chose the AcerAspire2920 Which I paid £460 for by shopping around
About the Acer2920
By laptop standards it might not be the smallest or lightest available but do not let that deter you from giving it due consideration so what do you get for your money
At first view you get a stylish looking piece of equipment it has a glossy black finish which makes a change a lot seem to be a silver /grey colour
When you lift the lid you might be a bit disappointed by the interior I know I was the keyboard and surround is a matt...

Review of AcerAspire2920
Advantages: Nice keyboard; good value Disadvantages: Only two USB ports and battery life
...This laptop comes with Intel Pentium Dual Core (T4300) 2.1GHz Processor, 4096MB Memory RAM, 320GB 5400rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive, and a 1.65 inch widescreen as well as a DVD-RW, integrated webcam and Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have owned an Acer PC for about 2 years and have been totally impressed with it - even when accessing their support they had been so helpful so I was really pleased to receive this brilliant little laptop as a Christmas present.
I use it mainly for internet (including shopping, banking and accessing my work remotely), e-mail with some word processing and use of Excel. It comes with a trial version of Office (Home and Student) as well as McAfee antivirus (trial) and Windows 7 from PC World. It has a host of other "freebies".
I am not a gamer so I am unable to comment on its capabilities as far as that is concerned...

Review of AcerAspire 5738
Advantages: Value for money, comfortable keyboard, widescreen Disadvantages: lack of USB ports, tricky to open on occasions
...I have recently purchased the Acer Laptop aftermuch deliberation and price comparison searches on the internet and I have to admit I am thrilled with my choice.
My laptop was bought for £399 including Windows 7 from PC world in November 2009.
I mainly use my laptop for work (specifically number crunching on Excel spreadsheets and typing prose in emails and Word), internet shopping, banking and watching films/catch-up TV. I am not a gamer and only occasionally use Skype although with the built in webcam that this laptop boasts I am starting to use it more purely due to the ease.
To start with, the keyboard is perfect for someone who is used to touch typing. My previous laptops have had quite shallow keys and have not been particularly comfortable or easy to type at speed. The AcerAspire has soft, large and comfortable keys...

...A bright 15.4 inch screen, huge hard disk, and seemingly unlimited levels of memory make this a great home laptop, this to me seems where it is best suited rather than as a business notebook. Its reasonable if not good price make this centrino laptop a very good choice.
- Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit, Sp1)
- Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 15.4? HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD
- 4GB DDR3 Memory
- 1244 MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
- 250 GB Hard Drive
- DVD SuperMultiDl with BluRay disc drive
- 0.3 megapixel integrated webcam
- Purchased from PC World £450

Review of AcerAspire 5738
Advantages: Light, Powerful, very good screen for the size, Stylish look, keys feel good Disadvantages: No built in Bluetooth, Cant find a case to fit it properly, Needs a cigarette lighter charger
...I puchased my Acer2920 last year (2008) because of its small size and powerful promise.... I needed a pc that was light, very portable & easily stowable as I travel constantly and have to deal with e-mail, manage my database, design advertisements and create flyers while on the move. I use cross channel ferryboats every week and this gives me a lot of time to compute onboard. I made the right choice with the Acer2920 and I just hope that when i ever have to replace it, I get a laptop as good.
I must add, I have had laptops since 1995. I have had two Toscheba's, three IBM thinkpads, and this is my forth Acer laptop. My Acers in my opinion have been better, but I aso appreciate that technology has moved on since my first 386 B/W Tosch !
I carry it about in an old Targus case, because i cant seem to find a snug case that it can fit...

Review of AcerAspire2920
Advantages: Genuinely portable, VFM Disadvantages: None as yet
...Hi All. Just picked one of these up a few days ago. We got the T5450 version on offer at £399. We wanted an ultra portable rather than a desktop replacement, and you don't see many at that price. It isn't the lightest ultra portable around at 2kg, but the bigger screen models that we were looking at were more like 2.5-2.7kg. Anyway, value wise I'd say you'd be hard pressed to beat this spec for the price. For running office apps etc it's not leaving me feeling like i'm waiting around for it at all. It's our first laptop and unless you specifically buy a gaming laptop, you may as well forget about games, onboard graphics just aren't up to it. Battery life seems ok at 2.5 to 3 hrs of real use. The Acer software seems easy to use and useful. I read in a review that the keyboard area looks like a kids toy, I think that's a bit harsh but i...

Review of AcerAspire2920
...According to consumer Acer laptop with us at this time consists of five models with different configurations and form factors, AcerAspire2920, 2930, 4730, 4715 and 4720, supported by Intel Procesor, but to see the media market is high.

Review of AcerAspire 2930
Advantages: Very portable, excellent keyboard. Battery life OK but not what is stated Disadvantages: Slow to boot from 'cold'.
...-books is that they're all 'much of a much-ness'. For example, there's a whole clutch of them from half a dozen makers like Acer, Compaq, HP, Toshiba etc all sporting the same Intel processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM, a 160 gigabyte hard drive and a 10.1" screen, and all, it would seem somewhere around the £220-£250 mark. Likewise, they were all sporting Windows XP Home Version as their operating system. The doubtful benefits of a shift to Vista seem to have been resisted presumably to keep the price down, in the hope no doubt, that Windows 7 was 'just around the corner', which of course for main stream machines, it is.
Some even sport a free Linux operating system to help even further with the shekels.
THE CHOICE IS MADE
Thus it was that my eye was caught by an Acer net-book sporting twice as much RAM, a 250 gigabyte hard drive, and all...
Advantages: 15.6" HD screen, good audio quality, price. Disadvantages: short battery life, temperature
...Acer decided to add an extra Aspire Gemstone Blue model laptop. I was lucky to get a hold of him as my friend purchased it, and I was using it for a while, he asked me to install some software and configure his Vista so the notebook going to work properly.
The first touch was a surprise I expected it?s going to weight more than 2.8 kg, it?s a really light notebook, and thanks to its glossy sapphire-blue Gemstone cover and intricately textured palmrest it?s a pleasure to touch it.
I opened it and, I have thought nothing new inside, which is actually good because you don?t need to get used to some new type of using it. The screen is 15.6?, it?s really sharp and it?s a pleasure to work with it, the eyes don?t get tired thanks to high definition CineCrystal screen that Acer installed in this notebook. The buttons are quiet, which for me is...
