Advantages: portable Disadvantages: could have more memory
...This laptop is another one from the acertravelmate range .
Acer as a laptop company are beginig to grow, and they are now just as well know as a lot of others, but then I first saw then in shops, my first impression, and the impression of others I asked was they seemed a bit of a cheap brand, just like netto is compared to Sainsbury's. however acer have somehow seemed to change peoples minds and even managed to change my mind somehow.
If you want something sturdy, with a solid specification and in a mid price range of around £500, yet you could get one a lot cheaper now on eBay. Then this laptop could be for you.
Its Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor runs at 2GHz which is pretty good, and its has 1 gb of ram too. This makes it a lot faster than a lot of other laptops with only 1 gb of ram though because its processor is so quick...
Advantages: Big Screen, Good Looks, Nice To Use Disadvantages: Heavy
...As I do quite a lot of travelling with my job, I decided it was about time I invested in a laptop. My desktop at home is an Acer Aspire and it was very affordable when I bought it in comparison to some other makes, having had it a good few months now and experienced no problems with it, I decided the new laptop would also be an Acer.
My budget was around £650 when I started looking about 2 months ago, and I found the AcerTravelmate in my local PC World just about on budget. It ticked all the boxes, as my new laptop would be being carried around in the boot of my car most of the time and the only real carrying of it I would have to do would be into a hotel room really, size and weight did not really matter to me. In fact quite the opposite really as I decided I would like a decent sized screen and a full size keyboard as then once I...
...I for one, absolutely love the look of this acer. The bottom of the laptop just looks really cool, and the top looks ok too. One only criticism on the look, would be that the plastic at the tip of the screen is a little thick, but then again it does have a built in webcam, so I suppose that makes up for it.
This is a very compact travel mate, with only a 14.1\" TFT active matrix screen, however the quality of this screen is great.
This laptop isn't really that fast to be honest, however if your not using memory demanding programs or wanting to play new games on it then maybe its 512mb of built in ram is good enough for you.
But, like I say, if your not sure of what ram you will need, then your better just getting a better laptop rather then buying this for a bit cheaper and getting frustrated because its so slow.
Because its...
...I have just been given an AcerTravelmate 4000 to replace my aging AJP laptop. I am told it cost £700 with a 3 year warranty.
First Impressions were good its looks nice with a good standard of design. The screen is bright with a 1280x800 wide xga resolution it has good contrast both under the fluorescent lights at work and sat outside at the local coffee shop.
Software support wasn’t great, it came preinstalled with Windows XP home the only bundled applications were Acers management software, cd/dvd authoring software (for use with the DVD +- RW drive. Also bundled was a copy of Powerdvd for watching movies. There was no office software, which cause a little problem. I solved this by downloading a copy of open office.
The laptop is powered by a Intel Centrino. The processor is a 1.5ghz Celeron with inbuilt wireless...

Review of AcerTravelMate 4000
Advantages: Widescreen - built in wifi connectivity - Ease of use Disadvantages: Relatively short battery life.
...I have used the AcerTravelmate 7510 version, for about a year now. Prefering the wider 17" screen, which this Acer has.
The unit is powered by the AMD Turion 64 processor, another personal preference towards Athlon rather than Intel. 2 gig of RAM and an 80 gig hard drive, is more than sufficient for the personal home or office user.
Wireless internet connection has been very stable and runs at 8mbps on average, which is great for music or film downloads.
Windows Vista home premium is pre-installed and you do not receive a back up or restore cdr. The operating system is partitioned on the hard drive, so, in theory, you can always restore it to original factory settings - having tried this, due to a virus, I found I could not carry out this function, despite Acer telling me otherwise. The problem was easily resolved by...
Advantages: The features it comes with for such great alue for money Disadvantages: no choice of colour nd possibly weight for some people
...I've had my Acer 5320 Travelmate for 3days now. This is my first laptop and to be perfectly honest, it has everything that I need and more.
I purchased this along with a T-Mobile offer which was a FREE laptop if you took out a mobile internet dongle with 3 GB allowance for £30 per month for two years. I only look at the advert and thought what the heck, get it!
Next day it arrives, opened it all up and my god I couldn't believe what it had! Firstly I didn't expect this computer to have an infrared port, Bluetooth, wireless, integrated camera, microphone and a memory card reader all built it!!!! I was a little kid at Christmas.
Now personally myself, I know you can get better looking laptops, better designs and probably a lot more crammed into a computer, but for the offer that I got and for what I got, I am more than happy...
Advantages: Excellent Price, Good Design Disadvantages: A little slow
...This is a review for the AcerTravelmate 2414WLMi.
Which is very similar to the product above
(1.6Ghz, 40GB HDD, 256MB RAM, WiFi, Dual Layer DVD RW etc.. 15" Screen).
We managed to buy this product for £299 in comet after having difficulty from Tesco.
-- Looks --
The laptop seems to be slimmer than others but this makes it a little wider and deeper. This has made the keyboard a little further from the front.
-- Ports, Inputs, Outputs --
The laptop has 4 USB 2.0 ports 3 on the left side and 1 on the back. The power socket is also located on the back. It has a headphone and mic socket in the front where the Wifi and Bluetooth (yes it seems to have bluetooth - but not yet tested!) lights and buttons are located (the light also acts as a button) . Also on the left is an output for an external monitor.
-- Hidden Features...
Advantages: Lightweight, robust, quick Disadvantages: Battery life could be better, hard to get hold of
...AcerTravelmate 290LCi
I am using this laptop currently, right now I am even typing on it I have been using this laptop for around 6 months after it was bought for my by my boyfriend who bough it off his dad for just £50 it originally started life in a school as one of their many laptops and when they updated them they were just dis-guarded. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it when I bought it and it was all wiped clean and ready to use by the time I got it.
It came with Windows XP Professional already installed which is the standard operating system for this brand of laptop.
Since owning this laptop it has been brilliant I had not had a laptop before this and found it great for lying in bed till late on a night on the internet, it is only very light weighing around just 2.8kg so not very heavy at all. It has a 15" screen...
Advantages: Nice keyboard; good value Disadvantages: Only two USB ports and battery life
...This laptop comes with Intel Pentium Dual Core (T4300) 2.1GHz Processor, 4096MB Memory RAM, 320GB 5400rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive, and a 1.65 inch widescreen as well as a DVD-RW, integrated webcam and Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have owned an Acer PC for about 2 years and have been totally impressed with it - even when accessing their support they had been so helpful so I was really pleased to receive this brilliant little laptop as a Christmas present.
I use it mainly for internet (including shopping, banking and accessing my work remotely), e-mail with some word processing and use of Excel. It comes with a trial version of Office (Home and Student) as well as McAfee antivirus (trial) and Windows 7 from PC World. It has a host of other "freebies".
I am not a gamer so I am unable to comment on its capabilities as far as that is concerned...

Review of Acer Aspire 5738
Advantages: Value for money, comfortable keyboard, widescreen Disadvantages: lack of USB ports, tricky to open on occasions
...I have recently purchased the Acer Laptop aftermuch deliberation and price comparison searches on the internet and I have to admit I am thrilled with my choice.
My laptop was bought for £399 including Windows 7 from PC world in November 2009.
I mainly use my laptop for work (specifically number crunching on Excel spreadsheets and typing prose in emails and Word), internet shopping, banking and watching films/catch-up TV. I am not a gamer and only occasionally use Skype although with the built in webcam that this laptop boasts I am starting to use it more purely due to the ease.
To start with, the keyboard is perfect for someone who is used to touch typing. My previous laptops have had quite shallow keys and have not been particularly comfortable or easy to type at speed. The Acer Aspire has soft, large and comfortable keys...
