...The AsusEeePC 701 -- its a very portable laptop that cost me £210.
Its a very neat laptop, being a traveller and travelling with my job, I need a light laptop with instant internet, messenger, skype access. This laptop gives you this with ease.
All of my colleagues are intrigued by the laptop, especially the guys with 17" screens, lugging them around to every destination.
The EeePC is one of the smallest laptops on the market. At 225 by 35 by 165mm, it's about the size of a book, and weighs 900 odd grams. Its petite dimensions give it a toy-like appearance, but this is countervailed by the pearl-white finish, which gives it a touch of sophistication. Ultimately, the EeePC looks equally at home on the catwalk or in a child's playpen -- it is what you make of it really!
Because it's so small, some sacrifices have been ma...

Review of AsusEeePC900
Advantages: portability and features Disadvantages: small memory and no cd drive
...For a programmer it is very important to have almost always a pc with him to be able to work and note down his ideas and everything else. The AsusEeePC900 it's one of the most suitable notebooks for persons who want a portable tool with them all the time. But like any other thing in this world there are some disadvantages too. I'm not finished with the advantages but we will take a look at them later. The very small memory (according to today's expectations) of only 4G isn't very eye-catching and on top of that today even a telephone has 9G memory. But we should consider the size of it and the features that it has to offer that are almost the same as a normal laptop. You could always put a memory card and a stick to it although....

Review of AsusEeePC900
Advantages: Size, Ease of Use Disadvantages: Small keyboard, small screen
...This review looks at one of many netbooks to be released in the UK over the past few months, ASUS's EEEPC 701 SD. The model I have is fitted with Windows XP and has an 8Gb hard drive. I bought it on special offer for £155.
Appearance
The 701SD is absolutely tiny. It weighs around a kilogram and is roughly the same size as a hardback reading book when in the closed position. It comes in a neat box along with instructions,a mains charger, a protective case and a system CD. It has a 7 inch screen which is absolutely tiny but is still perfectly functional. The unit has three USB sockets, headphone and microphone jacks, and SD memory card slot, a small webcam above the screen and a microphone positioned just underneath the keyboard. It has a small touchpad which is small but works in exactly yhte same way as a normal sized laptop...

Review of AsusEeePC 701
...The ASUSEEEPC 701 model is an extremely affordable, small and portable netbook with a 7" screen and built in wifi card designed primarily for internet use.
The standard model comes with a built in 2 gigabyte solid state hard drive and comes in a variety of colours and finishes ranging from matt white through to pastel pink. The white ones are probably your best bet as in my opinion they are slightly more stylish, echoing shades of the Macbook Air.
The EEEPC comes with a built in microphone on all models and webcam on most models and runs on a Linux based operating system although it can be configured to run on a Windows based system. Windows based versions are planned for release by the company shortly.
The Linux distribution is extremely stable with a Windows like user interface although for those not quite used to Linux you...

Review of AsusEeePC 701
Advantages: Good battery life, Good specifications, Wireless N and Bluetooth Disadvantages: Better netbooks available, Poor webcam
...INTRO
Asus (or AsusTek), are famous for their range of computer motherboards (the big circuit board in a PC). Nowadays, they've broadened their range to other computing items such as flat screen monitors, PDAs and even laptops. Now, speaking of laptops, Asus released their EeePC range of laptops and these were the first 'netbooks' on the market. A netbook is a laptop (or notebook) but smaller and cheaper than a standard laptop. It's always been the case of, the smaller the laptop, the higher the price tag, since they would usually be classed as 'Ultra Mobile' laptops and would be just as powerful if not more powerful than normal laptops, but Asus changed all that by introducing the EeePC. There are various flavours of the EeePC with price tags ranging from around £180 and screen sizes from 7" up to 10" odd. The main...

Review of ASUSEeePC 1000H
Advantages: Fast boot time, Good connectivity Disadvantages: Small keyboard, horizontal scrolling, poor webcam
...-board dictionary. So you can see this device is geared towards education as well as mobile surfing.
With a battery life of 3-4 hours when fully charged the AsusEEE is a wonderful mobile companion. I would choose it over devices costing more than double (see some of my other reviews), as its a prime example of the manufacturer being on-the-ball and creating a really usable PC at a bargain basement price. I would love to get my hands on the larger screen version as it can be slightly annoying having to use the horizontal scroll-bar to read some web content but that's down to website developers not thinking about what platform their sites will be viewed on. The EEE makes the best of what it has and it's default simple mode features large colourful icons. Already familiar with linux? Then use a search engine to lookup how to activate advanced mode...

Review of AsusEeePC900
Advantages: Nice keyboard, great screen, goog build quality Disadvantages: Price
...I was very lucky to get our AsusEeePC 1000H today. The version I have here is a 10-inch Windows XP version, with 1GB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. Having only just unboxed the tiny wonder and played with it for around one hour, this is my very early impressions.
Firstly, the accessories you get in the box make it seem a lot better value than other offerings. The stumpy, yet high capacity battery should yield much longer runtimes than the 3-cell batteries shipping with other netbooks. You also get a nice little manual, a polishing cloth, Support CD and MS Works 9.0 licence. There is also a slip case, which is functional and means you can get out-and-about with your Eee very quickly.
The 1000H unit is very very sexy. Our model is in black and it has a very high gloss finish. It looks as thought it'll really be a fingerprint magnet, but...

Review of ASUSEeePC 1000H
Advantages: Small, compact, portable, Works "right out of the box" Disadvantages: Linux, Battery Life, Small keyboard
..., gave me steps to enable the Advanced Desktop Mode.....now it is much more XP like.
Speed of the machine is good......currently runs at 633Mhz, but can be tweaked up to 900.
It comes with 512Mb of RAM, and my particular model, has a door on the bottom that allows you access to the ram, so you can up it to 2GB (approx cost is something like £25)
It comes with a solid state 4Gb memory, of which about 2.5Gb is taken up with Linux. The user manual does give instructions on how to install XP on it, and it does come with a CD recovery disc that also contains XP drivers.
People on the forum, eeeuser, have said that by using NLite you can get a working XP OS cut down to 1 Gb. They have reported that XP runs perfectly fine on it.
I am in two minds about putting XP on it:
1) I've never used Linux before and would like to get used to it
2...
