Advantages: Nice keyboard, great screen, goog build quality Disadvantages: Price
...I was very lucky to get our Asus EeePC 1000H today. The version I have here is a 10-inch Windows XP version, with 1GB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. Having only just unboxed the tiny wonder and played with it for around one hour, this is my very early impressions.
Firstly, the accessories you get in the box make it seem a lot better value than other offerings. The stumpy, yet high capacity battery should yield much longer runtimes than the 3-cell batteries shipping with other netbooks. You also get a nice little manual, a polishing cloth, Support CD and MS Works 9.0 licence. There is also a slip case, which is functional and means you can get out-and-about with your Eee very quickly.
The 1000H unit is very very sexy. Our model is in black and it has a very high gloss finish. It looks as thought it'll really be a fingerprint magnet, but...

Review of ASUS EeePC 1000H
Advantages: Size, Ease of Use Disadvantages: Small keyboard, small screen
...This review looks at one of many netbooks to be released in the UK over the past few months, ASUS's EEEPC 701 SD. The model I have is fitted with Windows XP and has an 8Gb hard drive. I bought it on special offer for £155.
Appearance
The 701SD is absolutely tiny. It weighs around a kilogram and is roughly the same size as a hardback reading book when in the closed position. It comes in a neat box along with instructions,a mains charger, a protective case and a system CD. It has a 7 inch screen which is absolutely tiny but is still perfectly functional. The unit has three USB sockets, headphone and microphone jacks, and SD memory card slot, a small webcam above the screen and a microphone positioned just underneath the keyboard. It has a small touchpad which is small but works in exactly yhte same way as a normal sized laptop...

Review of Asus EeePC 701
...The ASUS EEEPC 701 model is an extremely affordable, small and portable netbook with a 7" screen and built in wifi card designed primarily for internet use.
The standard model comes with a built in 2 gigabyte solid state hard drive and comes in a variety of colours and finishes ranging from matt white through to pastel pink. The white ones are probably your best bet as in my opinion they are slightly more stylish, echoing shades of the Macbook Air.
The EEEPC comes with a built in microphone on all models and webcam on most models and runs on a Linux based operating system although it can be configured to run on a Windows based system. Windows based versions are planned for release by the company shortly.
The Linux distribution is extremely stable with a Windows like user interface although for those not quite used to Linux you...

Review of Asus EeePC 701
Advantages: Great battery life, great features etc Disadvantages: Speakers are not very loud
...comes with 1GB out of the box, which is pretty standard for all netbooks, again this can be very easily upgraded for more demanding tasks.
The ram upgrade is very cheap and hassle free, normally only costing £20.
Sound
Sound quality is great with this system, which is surprising with the size of the device and users can enjoy High definition audio. The volume is a little disappointing as tends to be a little quiet but this is the case with every netbook.
Display
With 1000h model you get a 10" display, which is much better than previous eee models. Everything is rendered very well on this machine and you can get up to a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels which is great as some netbooks dont support this.
Battery Life
The battery life on this machine is really good. My eee 1000h can last anything up to 6 hours depending...

Review of ASUS EeePC 1000H
Advantages: Small, compact and easy to use Disadvantages: no windows operating system, tiny keyboard and mouse
...The Asus EeePC 701 -- its a very portable laptop that cost me £210.
Its a very neat laptop, being a traveller and travelling with my job, I need a light laptop with instant internet, messenger, skype access. This laptop gives you this with ease.
All of my colleagues are intrigued by the laptop, especially the guys with 17" screens, lugging them around to every destination.
The EeePC is one of the smallest laptops on the market. At 225 by 35 by 165mm, it's about the size of a book, and weighs 900 odd grams. Its petite dimensions give it a toy-like appearance, but this is countervailed by the pearl-white finish, which gives it a touch of sophistication. Ultimately, the EeePC looks equally at home on the catwalk or in a child's playpen -- it is what you make of it really!
Because it's so small, some sacrifices have been ma...

Review of Asus EeePC 900
Advantages: Good battery life, Good specifications, Wireless N and Bluetooth Disadvantages: Better netbooks available, Poor webcam
...INTRO
Asus (or AsusTek), are famous for their range of computer motherboards (the big circuit board in a PC). Nowadays, they've broadened their range to other computing items such as flat screen monitors, PDAs and even laptops. Now, speaking of laptops, Asus released their EeePC range of laptops and these were the first 'netbooks' on the market. A netbook is a laptop (or notebook) but smaller and cheaper than a standard laptop. It's always been the case of, the smaller the laptop, the higher the price tag, since they would usually be classed as 'Ultra Mobile' laptops and would be just as powerful if not more powerful than normal laptops, but Asus changed all that by introducing the EeePC. There are various flavours of the EeePC with price tags ranging from around £180 and screen sizes from 7" up to 10" odd. The main...

Review of ASUS EeePC 1000H
Advantages: Size, robustness, weight, Linux Disadvantages: Screen estate
...What a cracking little machine. The way things are going with the sub laptop market.
Although it runs on Linux, it is simple to boot up (in under 20 secs) and use from the moment you open the box, and you can run it on Windows if you need to. Although I wouldn't, as this version of Linux does all that you need and more, and saves you from all the security headaches that Windows can cause. Linux comes with built-in antivirus and firewall - you don't need separate programs.
Linux is an Open Source software with a huge community of developers behind it, so there are now thousands of programs to run on Linux, and a support community which puts the large corporations to shame. There are several forums for help if you need it for the EEE, and you will get answers to your problems or queries very quickly.
If you run it straight from...

Review of ASUS EeePC 4G
Advantages: Cheap and cost effective ultra-mobile computing Disadvantages: Not the best choice for online gaming, mass downloading or media storage
...from a netbook for slick presentations, mobile freelance communications and ability to compile images for clients in their own workplace. If you wish to be able to heavy edit photographs or to design within Adobe software, such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver or After Effects, a Duo Core+ laptop will be more suited for your needs.
If you are planning on buying a mobile computer for yourself, or for a family member, such as a school child, or parent, for personal usage, such as viewing photographs, emailing, listening to music, watching videos, browsing the internet and using MSN - the netbook range is mostly suited if you prefer a smaller PC to carry around the house, or plan to take this out and about with you.
It is not recommended to choose a netbook if you plan to do large amounts of downloading, or running...

Review of ASUS EeePC 901
Advantages: lightweight, powerful, value for money, looks great, button key setup great for big fingers Disadvantages: slightly annoying mouse pad, can't use some web development apps due to screen size, no HDMI slot
...Having recently set up a new business, I invested in a sturdy laptop to be my main business machine. However, I had an old work laptop sitting around and a dealer was doing an offer to part exchange your old laptop in for a new one. I had been investigating netbooks as a viable travel companion and the Asus came out as a winner.
It was between this and the Acer alternative - however the Asus was cheaper and I am reliable informed that Asus actually make a lot of the insides to all the other netbooks. What really sealed the deal for me though was the battery life. As the Asus is operating Windows XP, it doesn't require a huge memory and lots of power to chug through the tiresome engaging of all the relevant services.
I bought the Asus just before a trip to the UK for a conference and this conference was a true test of the claimed 9...

Review of ASUS EeePC 1000H
Advantages: Price, easy to use, very portable, good features Disadvantages: Size, over-heating battery.
...You get what you pay for with the EeePc.
This bite-size laptop (oh, that's the one for children right?) comes in a neat, sleek package that makes you want to purr with pleasure. It feels good, it is very, very easy to set up out of the box and to connect to wireless broadband (my Windows experiences with wi-fi have ALWAYS ended in tears).
You can email on or off-line, surf the web, write documents, spreadsheets and presentations and (joy of joys) play Solitaire. You can send MSN messages and use Skype with a webcam included (on the 4G version, not sure about the others) and all of this without Windows. It uses Linux as the OS but if you're desperate the option to install a variety of Windows OS is there. Though why would you want to?
But and it is a big BUT for such a small and inexpensive machine, size does matter. Surfing...
