Seductively Black AOpens XC Cube EZ18
Review of AOpen XC Cube EZ18 - no CPU by  cybersurfur

Advantages: Extremely quite, beautiful machine
Disadvantages: CPU Cooling fan & the floppy drive connector are placed

...for work... mainly)but as you go try to install the floppy you'll find (as i did) that the connectors for the floppy drive are positioned a little awkwardly so a little fiddling will be required. CPU wise your choices are limited im afraid and this is one of the major places where the EZ18 falls on. Myself i had an AMD Athlon XP 2.5 installed which was rather cheekily overclocked by my friend; so my 2.5 cpu now thinks its a 3.2 and runs at that speed very well. Although the fan isn't as impressive as some it does a wonderful job; as soon as its switched on for 3 seconds you can hear the fan springing to life but then quites down to a level thats barely noticable. What's nice to see are the small extras, such as a cloth to clean the shiny cover and caps for the EZ18's feet. Documentation, whilst being very colourful, is poor at best. A small... Read review

Che-ez Snap Ultra compact very cute handy camera
Review of Che-ez! Snap digital camera by  Kirki

Advantages: Very small, takes good pictures for its size, rechargable battery and reasonable pricce
Disadvantages: It might be too small and difficult to handle for some, no flash, can lose images if not fully charged.

...one to get as there are so many around all doing something special (none of these gadgets makes coffee or tea yet though…). So when I’ve decided on the Che-ez! Snap it wasn’t so much the features but the fact that it has a rechargeable battery built in which means that it is also charged through the USB connection. And in the real world that means you don’t have to buy batteries all the time. According to the manufactures you can recharge it about 500 times and after that you need a new camera. The other thing was the size, so small and practical just 5x4x2cm in size. The Che-ez! Snap can take 26 images at 640x480 or 104 at 320x240. It can record up to 10 seconds of continuous real video footage and can be used as webcam,. It has a self timer and standby mode which means it switches off automatically after 10 seconds... With EZ-Surf Mail its EZ
Review of ez-surf.cjb.net/freemail.html by  killip

Advantages: Choice, colour scheme, POP access, languages, spell checker
Disadvantages: Not a top-level domain

...EZ-Surf, as you may have gathered from my other op about it, is an online search directory. This directory, like many others such as Yahoo!, Lycos and AltaVista, also provides a free email service which, in my opinion, is a good few cuts above Yahoo!, Lycos or AV mail. The first good point has to be the colour scheme, as a Bradford City fan the first thing I see as I check my email online is a claret and amber colour scheme greeting me. Although this is not really a part of the service they offer, it would give me that 1/4 inch preference to it over another if they had the same standard of other services. Apart from that, they offer a whole range of services including: a choice of languages (British English, Spanish, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, Danish, Norweigan, finnish, Russian, Japanese, American English... BRA you say?
Review of SMC Barricade SMC7904BRA - router by  Headdy

Advantages: cheapest ADSL2+ router around; all-in-one solution
Disadvantages: confusing setup

..., you can connect more than one computer to the router. My old router only had one port, so I had to buy a separate hub to connect a second computer. All of the Internet connecting is done via the router. It also has an on/off switch at the back, so you don't have to plug the whole router out if you have to restart it for whatever reason. The SMC has a simple and quick interface for setting the router up, but you can also choose to go Advanced to tinker with settings even further. This is all done by web browser, and unlike certain other models *cough* Safecom *cough* the interface will work in Opera. PROBLEMS Getting myself connected to the Internet wasn't as straightforward as with my old router, a Safecom something-or-other. After entering all the details as they were on the old router, I couldn't get an Internet connection... Read review

kodak ez 200
Review of Kodak EZ 200 by  A.M.WOODCOCK

Advantages: ok if you have a higer spec machine.
Disadvantages: not so good if you dont have a fast pc (it wont work on it )

...Kodak ez200 Nice little camera if you have the latest p.c. I only run a Pentium 200, as it is all I need I have had the machine for 4 years now without any problems, Until I bought the Kodak ez200. The camera MUST be connected to a p.c. with at least a 266 with MMX. otherwise; it will not function properly. Do not get me wrong the people at Kodak and staples where I purchased the camera were brilliant, but the camera does not have a lot of technology inside it. So it relays on the power of your processor to help it along. As the person at Kodak pointed out the ez 200 tries to work like a web cam all the time, even when you are downloading snap shots. Looks like ill have to spend a bit more on a better camera, most digital cameras on the market only require a Pentium 90 so I wont have to many problems finding one.... Read review

Kodak EZ200, exactly what you want for Christmas
Review of Kodak EZ 200 by  Aterlatus

Advantages: Heaps of memory, loads of features and a cute blue stand
Disadvantages: Bundled software is a bit ugly, but TWAIN compatiblility means you're not restricted

...Gone are the days when you'd pay £400 for a camera that'd store 32 pictures at a resolution that makes DOS games look like the latest 3D graphics... Along comes the EZ200, from Kodak. I decided to buy my brother one of these for Christmas, and at £99.99 it was one hell of a bargain. OK, so the software that's bundled with it is a little cumbersome to say the least, but it's fully TWAIN compatible so most graphics programs should be able to capture from it. The best part about this camera, in my humble opinion, is that it stores more photos than you would ever need to. I've had nearly 500 on it in the lower resolutions, and a tasty 120 at a resolution of 640*480. Of course, the huge capacity of this camera is by no means the only thing it's got going for it. It has a number of different modes including high res, low res, multi... Read review

At last,a low price KVM switch with a USB platform
Review of Belkin OmniView SOHO Series 4-Port USB KVM Switch with Audio - KVM / audio switch - 4 ports by  coppinpr

Advantages: easdy to use,USB connections,up to 4 pc's
Disadvantages: not pretty,

...KVM switches are,i think, a very underrated component and are not often seen in use. This i think is because untill recently they relied on pretty much old tech as far as connections were concerned. Just to make it clear at the start what a KVM dose for those not familier with them,a KVM switch performs the very useful function of alowing more than one computer to use the same keyboard, monitor, mouse, and sometimes(and in this case) speakers. Be warned though,a KVM switch is simply an input/output switch it dose NOT link the pcs in any way, when one is on the others are off,no movement between computers just access between you and several pc's. For those of us who need to use more than one PC on a regular basis this is a major bonus both in space saving and speed of use. This belkin switch is a big step forward in KVM... Read review

solid build and quiet switch = happy chappy
Review of NETGEAR ProSafe GS108 8 Port Gigabit Desktop Switch - switch - 8 ports by  waga

Advantages: small compact size, metallic body, passive cooling=no noise
Disadvantages: gets a bit hot during summer

...Well there isn't much to say about this switch. I've bought 4 of these and they are all working fine. This is basically the big brother of the FS108 switch. The FS108 is 100mb Full duplex switch (full duplex meaning it can send and receive data at the same time), which theoretically gives 200mb throughput (send/receive combined). The GS108 is a 1000mb full duplex switch, which theoretically gives 2000mb throughput (send/receive combined). Under real wolrd conditions, you can copy a 650mb file with a 100mb switch in under 5-6 minutes. With a 1000mb (gig) switch , you should be able to do it in under 2 minutes (hardware permitting). On average, you will more than likely get over double the transfer rate than a 100mb switch, and obviously it's a hell of a lot faster than a 100mb hub. With copying the files am assuming you... Neat Netgear 5 port gigabit switch
Review of NETGEAR GS605 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch - switch - 5 ports by  sjhill

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, simple to use
Disadvantages: None.

...I liked this switch so much, I bought two of them. Netgear have a reputation for cheap and reliable networking equipment, and this 5 port unmanaged switch is no exception. When I bought my two, they were retailing online for approx £35 each - but these days you should be able to get one for approx £25 (inc VAT.) The switch is more or less the size of my hand (yes, I have big hands). With 5 ports on the back - all are auto-sensing, as is the gigabit standard, so you don't have to worry about crossover cables if you're daisy-chaining switches... The only other port on the back is for power, which is the usual "wall-wart" plug in transformer you get with most home networking equipment. Given the switch is unmanaged, you can just plug desktop computers, laptops, XBOXes, network printers straight into the switch, and not worry... Read review
