Sony VAIO CR21S/P Laptop
Advantages: Fast, looks good, comes in a variety of colours
Disadvantages: Expensive, mouse can sometimes play up
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why I brought the laptop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had had so many problems from my previous laptop, although I had only had it for 2 years - but there were problems with it right from the beginning. It was really staring to be unreliable and crashing all the time, as well it being highly annoying, I couldn't afford to keep loosing my work all the time and I was just waiting for the day for it to finally completely pack up, so I decided to go on the internet and start looking around for a new laptop. Originally I was looking for the cheapest yet good one I could find. By chance I ended up on the Sony website and advertised on the home page was this Sony Vaio. I instantly fell in love with it, so decided to check it out. This Sony Vaio is part of the CR Series and there are 3 different laptops which come with 3...
SONY SORTA DID IT
Advantages: High speed, SD card slot, Stylish Laptop
Disadvantages: Low Build Quality, Small screen
...BUILD QUALITY
Sony Laptops are popular, and usually overpriced but they make some cutting edge technology in a stylish package. I run a business where laptops are a nesecsity and I am found replacing them after litlle more than two years and this laptop I can see replacing before then as the build quality is not the usual sony standard ( That you Pay for) instead its more like a style statement. The keyboard although large has small tiny keys that are difficult to type on and the finish close up looks alot worse than you should expect especially from sony
I have nothing against functional, stylish laptops like the Apple MacBook Pro, as it has a highly sturdy alluminium build with high specifications.
This is a good looking machine in red no doubt about it but the build quality in my opinion is lacking
Enter the Sony!
Advantages: Packed with extras, looks good and feels good.
Disadvantages: See review for the very minor con`s.
...Sony are one of the newest companies to venture into the world of DSLR`s, having been producing some quite excellent point and shoot cameras for many years this is a move that most people in the photography world had expected to happen a long time ago and a lot had feared the day it did happen too.
The reason many photographers feared Sony entering the DSLR market is simply that it would be hard not to get drawn into what they had to offer but they feared that Sony might find the market too challenging and bale out leaving many photographers with cameras that they could not upgrade and would struggle to find lenses and accessories for.
When buying a point and shoot camera you are spending in the region of between 100 and 200 pounds for a top of the range model, whilst when purchasing a DSLR camera you could be looking at spending...
Another 5 star Sony!
Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.
...and produced some stunning images. I also tested it out with some night photography and with the right lens this produced brilliant images also although with the supplied kit lens the images were not quite as good.
I found that some of the images taken in brighter sunlight were very soft but this is where the D-Rangeoptimizer came into its own producing the saturated colourful images that I was looking for, I also shot some of these types of shots in the Sony vivid mode which makes the images much sharper and more colourful, so granted you have to tamper with the settings to get the results that the Nikon D80 will get you on its own but it is all part of the fun and I enjoyed using this unit very much.
There are better DSLR`s out there but certainly not at this price, this A200 can be bought most places for £299 with the kit lens I have...
Sony And Conscious
Advantages: Wait a minute, it's in the review
Disadvantages: Not many but the ones there are pretty shrill
...Tiny little professional. That’s what I call Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T900. It’s perfectly aware what is expected of it, and does it with aplomb and alacrety. It is impressive and impressive all the way. It’s not just like that billions world over think of Sony first and then any body else while choosing a camera and prepaid pay for it.
THE DESIGN:
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC T900, is an elegant, stylish, ultra compact digital camera with almost all the latest of technologies tucked inside it. Boasting of class with metal body , sliding front plate and folded optics. The wrist strap wounds up from the right to behave as a thumbrest. Just the power and shutter buttons right on top. The zoom ring loops the shutter release and a switch behind the ring to toggle between capturing movies and stills. Playback control is at the top...
A Sony fit for a pro!
Advantages: Too many to list, please see review!
Disadvantages: None worthy of a mention in my opinion.
...After writing countless of camera reviews on here as well as on a few other review sites on many different types of point and shoot cameras and DSLR`s that I have used or tested I thought it might be about time to write a review on one of the more upmarket DSLR`s that I own and use in my business as a professional photographer.
I own three high end DSLR bodies and the one I have chosen to review for you today is the Sony A700, this was the top of the line Sony DSLR until the recent release of the A900 and it is an expensive piece of kit but one that will produce not just great images but professional images if used correctly. It has many functions and settings and would no doubt be very confusing to a novice but if you have used a beginner level DSLR then you would or should be able to pick up how this camera works very quickly.
Simply Sony
Advantages: Good looks, easy use, great MP3 player, built-in transmitter
Disadvantages: Slow start-up procedure, no flash on camera
...fancy gubbins on it, but I would like it to play music. I like music, but I didn't have an MP3 player. The choice, as far as the mobile shops (and the websites, gadget mags and, to be fair, most of my customers) were concerned was simple: it had to be either the iPhone, with its multi-touch screen, Olga Kurylenko looks and much-heralded iPod music player built in, or Blackberry's new Storm which, despite being more Penny Smith to the iPod's Natasha Kaplinsky, is fitted with as much, if not more, software and a very clever 'clickable' touchscreen.
But I wanted neither. My phone of choice was the Sony Ericsson W980. Understated, elegant and, first and foremost, a mobile phone. It's a flip-design that, when opened up, reveals a classic Sony Ericsson simple design and familiar interface. The keys are responsive, nicely laid out (except...
Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)
Advantages: Best Entertainment System Avaliable, Region free games only
Disadvantages: 4GB file limitation External Storage, Cant read NTFS
...I am going to be reviewing possibly one of the biggest console in the market currently the PS3. Firstly I have one and it is great, now let's take a look at it in detail:
LAUNCH
November 11, 2006: This is when it debut in Japan
November 17, 2006: It released in North America
March 23, 2007: Finally was released in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and New Zealand.
The UK launch was a shock for who went to it, as it was announced that everyone in the queue would receive a 46" Sony Bravia TV worth £2000.
The launches did not turn out great for Sony as initial figures were low, here are the figures below:
Worldwide: 5.59 Million - Japan 1,341,000 - North America 2,105,500 - Other 1,300,000
The launch was initially supposed to be as follows:
November 11th for Japan and November 17th for North America...
* SONY "Driveman"??? ...
Advantages: Good, cheap, simple.
Disadvantages: Can get lost or stolen.
...The reason I am writing this review, is that I recently had a problem with my good old TomTom, and thought that perhaps it may have to go to the electronic graveyard in the sky (but how would it find it's way there?) Anyway, I had been checking out a few options, these were never needed, but if they were, then this little beauty would have been a fitting replacement.
SONY History etc. You have of course heard of the maker before, and may well have visited their website - http://www.sony.co.uk/
There is no truth in the story thast it stood for "Somewhere Outside New York" The name Sony actually derives from the Latin word sonus meaning sound and the English word sonny-boy - a term used by the Americans in the 1950's to denote a bright youngster. Originally it was called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Tokyo Telecommunication Engineering...
Point and shoot the Sony way!
Advantages: Great features, good image quality and all at a great price.
Disadvantages: Only a couple (see review)!
...camera is.
The one last thing that makes this camera a winner is the fact that as with most Sony cameras, it uses a rechargeable battery unit rather than the dreaded AA`s, so there is no need to worry about spending a fortune every couple of weeks on batteries. A fully charged battery will allow you to take about 300 photos and can be recharged in under 40 minutes so you can spend more time snapping.
