Advantages: Quick, Very reliable, Incredibly robust Disadvantages: Heavy, Battery life collapses over time, Not attractive, Better options for the same price.
...I bought the ToshibaL40 almost two years ago from PC World, I needed a laptop which was suitable on all specifications, RAM, reasonable hard drive space, decent video card and a good battery life. On paper and recommended by staff the outstanding applicant was the L40, it also looked good and felt robust. It became my primary laptop for over 18 months after which (from no fault of the laptop itself) screen failure and problems with the fan led me to search for a replacement. First up, the speed of the laptop was very important to me, so this is where I will start.
Speed
On paper the L40 has decent enough specs, good processor, 1gb RAM, though mine did come with Vista pre-installed (whatever you opinions on Vista, I personally find it to make the system much slower than any other OS) Regarding speed the L40 exceeded my...
Advantages: Ease of use, memory capacity Disadvantages: Quality, feel, value for money
...The ToshibaSatelliteL500 is the same as most other toshiba laptops. It looks stylish and can do all the basic functions that you would want for a laptop. However, when you use it, you dont feel very comfortable because it feels very cheap. The keyboard is very flimsy and feels like it is about to break every time you type something and the mouse pad and buttons do not respond well. However, the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard is great as it makes it so easy to type numbers. You can buy this laptop with a range of processors and sizes of harddrive so you can choose the one which suits you best. The display is actually very good but the battery life could have been improved. On my model it will last for a maximum of 2.5 hours on its lowest power setting.
Overall, this laptop is reasonable at most things but not...

Advantages: looks, reliability, battery, ease of use, screen Disadvantages: none yet found
...This is my second ToshibaSatellite. Until recently I have been using a slightly dated but very effective ToshibaSatelliteL10-114. Having recently purchased this new one though, I have to say there is a substantial improvement over my old lap top.
I run my own business from home and my lap top is my life line and main source of income so it always has to be Toshiba for me. They are so reliable and trustworthy that I will not risk any other make now.
The L40-12T is simply a stunning looking machine and creates an instant wow factor - key when using it in front of clients at presentations etc. It looks like a far more expensive machine than it really is. This is sadly quite key in such a material world.
The resolution of the screen is of the highest order in my opinion. For some reason - and there may be a technical reason...
Advantages: Ideal for Companies for Employees Disadvantages: No Software included
...Toshiba, one of the best names in laptop computers about and if you are looking to pay a little less for your laptop but want a good machine then the new Satellite Pro L40 is ideal.
It hasn't got dual core but at the end of the day who really needs this. This laptop is and ideal buy for any company that gives laptops to their employees, or whether you want a machine to potter about at home on.
Extremely stylish and lite weight, this can be carried anywhere with you and has wi-fi so if you require it for business purposes then don't worry you can still log on in your hotel room.
512MB RAM is quite enough for any user, in my job the files produce are of extreme size and there is no problem storing all this on this machine.
CD / DVD RW also included which is a bonus.
The only downfall is that this laptop comes with no...
Advantages: Value For money Disadvantages: No Bluetooth
...i first bought a Toshiba around about 4 or 5 years ago, it was a toshiba tecra m3, it was a lovely laptop until i dropped it and broke it, i decided that i would replace it with another toshiba because of the previous good reliability i had got from the machine, i thing that attracted me to this laptop was firstly the fact it was an operating system upgrade for me and secondly the superior specifications, the only down side being that there is no integrated bluetooth and trusted security platform, i found that the offers that were available at the time of purchase were very reasonable and i feel i got great value for money, i also think that the designer of this laptop has taken very great care with the general look and feel of the laptop and have put a lot of thought into the hardware they have supplied and it holds pride of place...
Advantages: Fast, Portable, Comfortable and Sleek, HD Resolution, Toshiba support is brilliant! Disadvantages: Awful grapics card, Not very durable, Speaker volume isn't fab...
...that law legal. So the laptop, it's got plenty of positives and only a few negatives. And if you've read my other reviews, I like to get the negatives out of the way first.
NEGATIVES
I'll get straight to the point, the graphics card is seriously bad, there's no way around it. It's a new thing where your computers RAM is used to power some of the graphics, like video and pictures. However this won't work with high-end games like the Call of Duty series or Crysis. This however, isn't a laptop you'd buy if you were wanting one for gaming, so it's not a major draw back. Another bad point is the durability, which isn't great. The lid can be pushed in, revealing it is fairly hollow apart from the screen and its components. I thought this a bit stupid as Toshiba are just wasting money making more material, why not just make it thin and tight guys...
Advantages: FREE, does everything I need it to do! Disadvantages: None really

* Operating system Genuine Windows VistaŽ Home Premium Edition (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
Vista, now I had heard so much about it, but had never experienced it for myself. Truth is, I quite like it though it takes some getting used to. For those who haven't grown up with computers it may take longer to get used to. However, if you're like me then you'll just get on with it and learn to love it.
Vista came pre-installed and I have had no problems with it at all.
