Toshiba Satellite Pro L500

Advantages: Fast, wide range of extra features, comprehensive instruction manual
Disadvantages: Other than the hefty price tag, none at all

...Please note: I am reviewing the L500-1RG model (specifications can be found here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BVUseBVCookie=yes&PRODUCTID=1080824). This particular model has been discontinued, however this review is still of relevance to the rest of the L500 series (in particular, the L500-1RJ). I'd like to start by pointing out that this laptop does not actually belong to me - it's my papa's. Despite this, I use it the most (even though I have a desktop at his house and a laptop of my own). I will try to review this laptop as comprehensively as possible but I am a limited user so don't have access to all of it's features. Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro L500

Almost perfect

Advantages: Sound quality just takes you there, a giant screen!
Disadvantages: Contrast needs to be beefed up on screen. very expensive

...I saw this at a friends house the other day and had a go to test out his assertions that this was the best mainstream gaming laptop on the market. Other than the amazing looks of the laptop, the first thing that struck me was the giant 17 inch screen that just asks to be looked at. It's a TruBrite display screen from toshiba that does give tremedous visual output in sheer colour tones and contrast. I was surprised that it worked so well when the graphics were at their maximum, but then this is a gaming machine people! It has enough RAM to get you started at 2 GB and my mate upgraded this easily to 8 GB, meaning his laptop was extraordinarily fast. A quick Core 2 Duo T7300 processor ensures that the games are perfecto!. It has an okay 160 GB of hard drive space and that would be enough for about 20 large PC games, though i wouldn...

Satellite Your Time

Advantages: Great performance and reasonable pricing.
Disadvantages: Medium battery life and a strange rugged texture to some of the exterior.

...The Toshiba Satellite range has been in production for over a decade now, and much has improved since some of its earlier models. And that includes the introduction of the companies year 2000 edition, which came with a 6 GB HDD and ran at 500 MHz - unbelievably, this comparatively under-specced (for todays standards) model was sold for $2400 (new) at the time.
