Coventry :Work-a-day City
Review of Coventry in General by  ashford

Advantages: Modern. Excellent road and rail links. Good universities
Disadvantages: Lacking in character.

...Coventry,in the west Midlands,is one of England's great centres of engineering housing tractor manufacturers, aero engine companies, armoured vehicle manufacturers and this industrial city is home to the famous "green cats",Jaguar cars. Although actually a historic city Coventry now appears as a modern rather work-a-day city bent on earning its living. It was heavily bombed during world war II and much of the city was rebuilt during the early post war years. Pride of place in Lady Godiva's home city has to be accorded the splendid Cathedral which is a phoenix rising from the ashes. The Belgrade Theatre is another modern building of quality and the University of Coventry in Priory Street is also attractive. On the outskirts of the city is the well respected and highly rated University of Warwick which some observers refer to as "The MIT... Read review

Let Me Take You Back In Time
Review of Warwick Castle by  btco

Advantages: lots to learn, intresting, lovely scenery
Disadvantages: gift shop a little expensive

...We went on an outing to Warwick Castle, which I was very interested in as it has loads of History, it was a great day out and living not to far away from Warwick Castle we thought we would go So I thought id share my experience with you and try to explain the best I can about the Castle and my day out there. Warwick Castle is in Warwickshire, which is near Coventry and about 20 minutes from Stratford Upon Avon. It took us about an hour and a half to get there from Cheltenham, but we did have a little stop on the way. You can easily get the train, I believe you can get combined rail and entry packages that are available to buy at the train stations. Warwick train station is about a mile away, so its in walking distance to and from the castle. Warwick Castle is part of The Tussauds Group. (Along with Alton Towers, Chessington... Read review

I hate this company
Review of Chiltern Railways by  huw140269

Advantages: None that I can think of
Disadvantages: Time keeping, rudeness and complete lack of anyone to make a desicion

...I do not understand these people. This is the fifth time (in the past 12 months) I have had problems travelling from Birmingham Moor Street using their service. On each occassion there has been no representative that would take authority and make a desicion about what to do as a result of their faults. Each time a form would be handed over and I have been told to complain in writing. I am sorry but that doesnt cut it when you are 30 miles away from home and the last train is cancelled, ok they put a bus on but that takes hours and my lift at the other end has had to go to work leaving me a 3 hour walk in the middle of the Warwickshire countryside. Other problems I have had is a train actually leaving 2 minutes early !!!! and the one that amaxzed me most was last Christams Eve where I phoned to ask when their last train was. After... 340R - Go Kart with Style
Review of Lotus Elise 340R by  Kimpalmer

Advantages: Pure driving pleasure
Disadvantages: No roof, doors - not the most practical car in the world!

...It is terribly unfortunate that I don't own one of these amazing cars. however I have had the pleasure of using one on some rather good roads in Warwickshire. I loved it so much that I need to post a comment on Ciao. The 340r is a thoroughbread Elise, it is the Elise with out the finesse - it is just a totally pure drivers car. I love the looks, but many don't, it is often compared to a dune buggy. No doors is probably the first thing you notice. Who needs doors? it is not part of the driving experience, so it doesn't need them. The first task is to clamber over the sills housing the really cool translucent panels. Sitting in the sports seats on the floor, you realise just how low you are actually sitting. Flick the key in the ignition, and a beautiful tuned 1.8l Rover K series engine splutters into life. The car I took out had... Read review

Watch out for the grit in your coffee
Review of Motorcycling - General by  simon3270

Advantages: fantastic atmosphere
Disadvantages: bits of grit in your coffee

...Speedway is taking off now that Sky Sports are showing it, and its appeal is widening throughout Britain. A quick rundown on the sport: The atmosphere --------------------- A busy crowd with their programmes ready to fill in, standing waiting for the race to start: bad dance music pumping away through faulty speakers, the smell of gravel and the noise of engines revving, the tapes are raised and ready to fall, the riders are “gardening” (preparing the ground with their feet before take off), and the race begins…. Speedway involves racing 500cc single cylinder engine bikes, with fixed gears, fantastic acceleration, and most importantly no brakes and no almost no suspension! Riders race around grit tracks four bikes at a time, with two riders from each team. From the stands it can be hard to identify which riders are in your teams... Read review

Aprilia Rs125 tetsuya Harada race rep
Review of Aprilia RS125R by  shotgun_norman

Advantages: Nimble, peaky 2 stroke engine, lightweight fun for teens and adult alike
Disadvantages: Running costs, possibiltiy of 'dumping it', winter!

...were right telling me that my poor little Aprilia wasn't any good, but i didn't want to believe them, so i took the bike to Alf England's in Bedworth, Warwickshire, although they are not an Aprilia dealership, their knowledge is second to none and they stripped my engine and rebuilt it although this was not claimed under Aprilia's warranty because they are not an Aprilia's dealership so i found myself £430 out of pocket. I decided to harass Aprilia for a reimbursement but they were adamant i would not get it, after 2 months of constant arguing they finally succumb and repaid me in full. I have to say that it was not a pleasant experience but at least i got a result. My bike ran better than ever for the next 2 years and had covered 8000Km with not a glitch after the rebuild, however constant maintenance was requires as any RS owner... Read review

THE paper to read in Brum
Review of Birmingham Evening Mail by  aflynn_01

Advantages: good comprehensive news coverage
Disadvantages: none really

...The Birmingham Evening Mail has been around for a very long time - 130 years in fact. The paper covers Birmingham and the area around it (Black Country, Warwickshire, Worcestershire etc). It is a very good paper that covers both local and national news. There are many editions availalble throughout the day starting with the Early and finishing with the late night final. Most editions have different front page stories (especially if a disaster has happened). It costs 32 pence and is availalble six days a week (Mon - Sat). The first half of the paper deals with the news both local and national and is covered exceptionally well. The Mail is very good at campaigning for issues in Birmingham thats it feel are unjust. For example it has recently campaigned for a new super hospital to replacing the aging Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth... Read review

Double double toil and trouble
Review of Macbeth - William Shakespeare by  Nuttytart_2kuk

Advantages: exciting, deals with many themes if read between the lines
Disadvantages: can be hard to understand old fashioned words

...I have read many shakespeare plays during my life and Macbeth is one of my favourite ones, although it was a long time ago when I read it. I live in the county of Warwickshire, which is Shakespeare's county, pretty close to where he was born and lived. I must however say that you can understand a writer better if you get to know about there life and by visiting Warwickshire you will. Shakespeare was a 16th century writer, who wrote several plays. One of his most famous being Macbeth. The story is set in Scotland, and is about how ambition can lead to death. Macbeths ambition, along with is wife and the influence of the witches leads him to his death. The play is a good one and I can't really say to much without giving away the plot, but it deaths with many areas from the supernatural to order. The main idea of the story being once one... A good search engine !
Review of goto.com by  ashford

Advantages: Popular. Seems to have good coverage of Asian web sites
Disadvantages: Not as quick as some

...I use many search engines but being based in Malaysia and often searching for web sites in Singapore,Malaysia,Japan and Australia as well as UK and US,I tend to rely quite heavily on goto.com.I find its coverage of sites in these countries is good and superior to that of several other major search engines. Of course each of the major search engines have their pros and cons and sometimes there are advantages in using the meta search engines such as alltheweb.com. However, if I am looking for say,e zines in Australia, I will often resort to using goto.com. Overall I find for my purposes this is a good, uncomplicated, search engine.: its downloads quite quickly and it has tolerably good and uncomplicated advanced search facilities.... Read review
