Empire of the Atom.

Advantages: GREAT read
Disadvantages: Nothing

...the deformities of his body are counteracted by the phenomenal brain power he has been born with. Clane secretly develops new atomic technologies. If the Royals find out they will kill him, if the outer planets find out they will kill him to get hold of the power. But Clane has a plan and it will change the universe forever. Put simply this really is a page turner; you will end up unable to put this book down. The writing is crisp and fast. The plot has a few really good twists in it and although a little dated the book is still a wonderful read. This must be one of Vogts best novels. A good read on the plane or the beach. Highly recommended, give it a go Written by A.E.Van Vogt....

Man! Everybody else used "Bob" in their title :(

Advantages: A bit of an overlooked minor classic
Disadvantages: Feels like it could have been better

.... However, when he does elaborate (for example, he talks about the need to go beyond the technical ability to animate and to understand subtext in order to create character). The commentary does seem to indicate that the pair were a little dissatisfied with the movie and would have preferred to have spent more time (another year, in fact) on it (they joined the project after 18 months or so and spent almost two years making it). One thing they keep moaning about is the subtitles for the Drej. Personally, I think they can look back and be rather more pleased with their accomplishment. It's not the overlooked classic Brad Bird's "The Iron Giant" is (if you haven't seen that, go watch it immediately) but it certainly didn't find the audience it deserved. Ironically, "Titan A.E." is a more ambitious and better film than all the subsequent Fox...

Due to wet weather and slippery floors I recently fell over, and hit my hand. At first I thought it was nothing, but after three weeks, I noticed an increase of pain and swelling around one particular finger. This pain got so bad that when I called for the umpteenth time to arrange an appointment with my doctor, I was told they were still fully booked and to go to A&E. Ince at A&E I was seen by a doctor, now before anyone accuses me of being racist I am not, but she was a young Chinese doctor, obviously recently qualified who did not have a grasp of the English language. ...Titan A.E. is not a bad film, in fact it's often enjoyable and always watchable, it's just that it seems to be so misjudged in its conception you wonder why anybody was surprised when it tanked at the US box office. It tries to place itself somewhere between the whimsical cuteness of Disney and the hyper-violent, techno-insanity of Manga, but it never seems quite sure exactly who it's target audience is. The highly unoriginal story may seem best suited to early teens, but the wannabe hip "alt. rock" soundtrack suggests it's pitching itself to the mid to late teen market. In the end though, you get the feeling that kids would get more of a buzz from a couple of hours of thumb-numbing Playstation activity than they would from this film. The A.E. in the title stands for "After Earth" since our lovely planet gets nuked in the undeniably...
