Epson SX405 : Good little all-in-one

Advantages: Fast printing, only four ink cartridges, wireless printing, compact size
Disadvantages: No direct CD printing, wireless sometimes hit and miss, loud printing

...I've always quite liked the idea of a wireless printer that everyone in the household can use to print their various documents, so when I saw an offer at PC World for the Epson Stylus SX405 (Wifi Version) on offer for £69.99 and free delivery I decided to take the plunge. I already had an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner - the Stylus RX640 - but it was quite bulky and space on my desk was limited, so the smaller dimensions of the SX405 appealed to me. First off, it doesn't actually have inbuilt WiFi; the printer comes with an Edimax print server which you plug in to the USB cable to enable wireless printing. It's quite a small print server but requires it's own power supply which I think is a bit of a disadvantage if you have limited plug space and/or want to cut down on the cables that end up being thrown behind your desk...

Review of Epson SX405 WiFi Edition

Peugeot 405 GLX

Advantages: Comfortable, spacious, well equipped, surprisingly powerful
Disadvantages: Multiple small problems led to engine failure, poor fuel economy

...I paid £300 from a friend for this my first car. Brought in 2004 and I only replaced it when it failed. The 405 GLX is a good powerful mid-sized car which is comfortable and hard wearing. The car I had the 1.6 GLX saloon model. I would suggest choosing a fuel-injected model. The saloon models have masses of space in both the back seat and especially i the boot, more than enough for a family holiday and too much for a weks shopping. The GLX is the top of the range with lots of little extras; electric front-seat windows, driver air bag, dual breaking system, power steering, factory air conditioning, fuel injection, fold down rear seat, center arm rest and small covered opening into boot to store ski's extra. Also contains velvet-like seat covers, adjustable lumbar supports for both passenger and driver, adjustable steering wheel...

Review of Peugeot 405 GLX

My Peugeot 405 1.6 (or Dave as I like to call it)

Advantages: great drive, reliable, very cheap and easy to fix
Disadvantages: fuel consumption

...My review is based entirely on my experiences with my current car (405 1.6 carb model) and a previous 405 (1.9 SRi). Brief history: The 405 was launched back in 1988 as a competitor to the Ford Sierra and Vauxhall Cavalier and in my opinion singlehandedly raised the standard of the family saloon. The mk 1 cars were far better equiped compared to competitors cars, but had a few niggles such as squeaky interior trim (mine suffers this!) and some reliability issues (a lot revolving around the carburettor units). Available engines - 1.6 & 1.9 carb, 1.9i and 1.9 diesel (and turbo diesel). In late 1992 the mk 2 range was launched, in which a new 1.4i engine was introduced for reasons unknown to me (far too underpowered for the size of car), and most 1.9 litre engines were superceded by a new more reliable 2.0i engine. A watch that no runner should be without

Advantages: Small, comfortable and accurate.
Disadvantages: It doen't work too well once the bezel is wet.

...on any runners wrist. The earlier models, such as the 201, 205 and 305 were very popular, although were very large in size. The 405 however has been designed with size in mind. It is a lot smaller and a lot more modern and stylish. The thing that makes it so appealing is the built in GPS receiver. You just simply put the watch on your wrist, turn it on and press start when you begin running. It records how far you went (accurate up to a reported 10 feet), how fast, ascent and descent, split times per mile etc, calories burned and more. Plus when you get home you can upload it to the supplied software on your PC, which displays the data in numerical and graphical form, along with a map of where you ran. Unless you really want to play around with all of the modes, this is really as simple as it is. You can use it straight out of the box...

Peugeot 405 GLD - Reliability itself

Advantages: Big, reliable
Disadvantages: NO power, but then get Turbo diesel (which is fast!)

...Just turned 17, Dad comes home and says, "Son, I bought you a car" Too my relief it wasn't a Vauxhall Nova. No it was an x-fleet car - a Peugeot 405 GLD in Midnight Blue. Now this car is far from fast. With it's odd 70bhp, it will reach 60 in a day. However if you buy one of these, you don't buy it for the performance. I got mine because it keeps my speed down. Engine The 1.9l fuel injected normally aspirated Diesel engine, is reasonably quiet and smooth. It takes a couple of seconds for the glow plugs to heat up, but I, in 3 years of having 200k+ on the clock have had it not start. Now at 200k, the engine is just about run in! Don't be scared of buying a high mileage diesel, as they are just so robust. Check things like, lots of smoke coming out the exhaust, this will tell you if it has been looked after. Try and get full service...

Review of Peugeot 405 GLi Break

Sony VAIO PCG- FX 405

Advantages: Good Looking, Sleek, Fast.
Disadvantages: Poor Battery life, Almost impossible to upgrade.

...things that put me off these were 1. THE PRICE as they seemed to be about 50% more expensive than the PC equivalents. 2. THE LAYOUT Apple Macintosh computers have a different keyboard layout as well as a different Operating System (i.e. they do not use windows). After I expressed my above concerns and expressed what I would be using the laptop for, I was directed to both the Sony and Samsung range. After having a "test drive" on both machines (both similar in specifications and price) I came down in favour of the SONY PX 405 because as well as having the sharper and brighter TFT screen, it also had a nicer feel about it whilst navigating around the desktop and the actual design of the laptop was nicer too. As I have absolutely no knowledge of the terms or expressions used in the technical specifications I wont even try to compete with the expert descriptions given by fellow reviewers and limit my comments to just my personal experience. The Fujifilm FinePix A405 was given to me as a gift, by friends of mine, who obviously had a much higher opinion of my technical abillities in this field than I did. This is the first and only digital camera I have owned, or ever attempted to operate. Indeed it remained in it's box for at least a couple of weeks before I built up the determination to open it and get to grips with the instructions and finer points of it's workings...

Clavinova Piano Orchestra at Your Fingertips.

Advantages: Sounds like a real piano - well several differents ones. Many other instrument sounds.

Treasure Hunting With The SAS

Advantages: A decent story with excellent characters
Disadvantages: A little slow for 20 or so pages

...uses his characters incredibly well and through them you really do feel like you are there and the plot is unfolding around you and more importantly it makes you want to carry on reading to find out exactly what's going to happen to them. Overall I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Damien Lewis's Cobra 405. It is an entertaining story that holds you attention from the start and while it takes about 20 ages to really get into the story it is well worth it. The slow start can be forgiven quite quickly as the introduction to Kilbride and his men makes you want to read on. I picked this up cheap in Sainsbury's on the off chance it would be half decent and I would certainly say it's been one of my better Supermarket impulse buys of recent times.
