Reviews of a doll's house
Living in a Doll's House.
Review of A Doll's House - Henrik Ibsen by
Joeyjoe
Advantages: A great feminist play written by a man.
Disadvantages: none,
...When Ibsen created a Doll’s House he aimed to create it in a certain way. This structure was known as the well made play. Here are some examples of the format of the well made play and by looking at this list it is clear that A Doll’s House is of that nature.
The Well Made Play
1) The plot during a well made play is usually based upon a withheld secret, often about the hero or main character and when it is revealed, the story line changes.
2) The initial exposition of the revelation provides information about the action before the play but also about the future, the secret. It withholds the secret but also gestures towards it’s meaning also.
3) There are ups and downs in the conversation/ dialogue and the swapping of humour lead towards the secret being revealed.
4) The “obligatory" scene in which we...

Not quite so real House and Doll.
Review of Mattel Barbie Totally Real House with Doll by
ShellyQ1975
Advantages: Good sound effects, lots of accessories
Disadvantages: Quite heavy, expensive, nowhere to store accessories.
...My youngest daughter kept going on about the Barbie house where the toilet flushes and the doorbell rings, so for Christmas we got her the Barbie Totally Real House with Doll.
*PACKAGING*
The box had a flap which opened to reveal parts of the house, which is a good idea when you want to see what's inside the box. It even had a piece of velcro on the box to keep the flap closed. But when the box needs to be recycled anyway, it seems an unnecessary waste of card. Of course the box pictures all of the accessories included, with captions for the sound effects.
*UNPACKING & ASSEMBLY*
As with many toys these day, it took an age to unpack and assemble. Far too long to expect any child to wait on Christmas morning. But our daughter is fairly patient, and she did have other things to occupy her with, so this wasn't much of a problem...

A little house to play with
Review of Early Learning Centre Wooden Dolls House by
mumsymary
Advantages: strong good house
Disadvantages: ?
...Early learning centre wooden dolls house
We have this dolls house at the school I work in.
It costs £40 from the early learning centre. For the basic house structure. It is a wooden house; this dolls house comes flat packed. It is fairly easy to assemble. When assembled it stands 56 cm high and the width across the front is 61 cm the depth from front to back of house is 35 cm. The house has open edges, easy for children to access
The house had two levels an upstairs and a downstairs there are 4 rooms 2 downstairs 2 up.
The front of the house has a wooden panel in which downstairs there is a large open central door area with sliding doors. The doors are v easy to slide. Either side of the door is a window. Upstairs centre front there is a large arched open “ window?” which is above and the same size...

LET US PLAY HOUSE
Review of Early Learning Centre Wooden Dolls House by
Groovee
Advantages: easily added to, wooden so less likely to break
Disadvantages: small pieces, expensive
...My friend bought her daughter the Early Learning Centre's wooden dolls house the first year it came out. Our E was very into the house when we went to visit and would spend hours playing with it.
Originally the dolls house cost £50 but last year it was reduced to £40, which is a bit more reasonable as all you get is the basic dolls house.
The basic dolls house is on 2 levels. It has 2 rooms downstairs, which have slidling doors and upstairs there are 2 rooms. These have a slanting open roof which can be used to carry the dolls house easily. It also allows the child to have more access to the rooms as the downstairs can be difficult to get into.
The height is 56cm, with a width of 61cm and a depth of 35cm. It is an ideal sized house for a young child and is recommended from age 3. We found it fitted in nicely between...

PEFECT 1st DOLLS HOUSE
Review of Fisher Price Play Family Fun Sounds" House" by
Surveyaholic
Advantages: Absolutely Perfect - Everything a little girl or boy wants - Very durable and tough
Disadvantages: None that we could find
...their plastic bags, as the house was already pieced together.
You get the Dolls house, with a mummy and daddy doll and a baby, high chair, pushchair, two beds, two chairs, table and a cot for the baby which also is used as the musical feature.
It is very compatiable - everything fits in perfectly and can be stored away neatly and tidily
It is very strong (as ours has been banged about and dropped and is still in one piece) The little people are very tough and made of strong plastic - ideal and safe for small hands (and may i add extremely cute too) - no rough or sharp edges.
All the furniture is hard and chunky - no danger of hurting your little one.
We have had ours tried and tested by little teethers and although ours may be a bit chewed they have certainly survived well.
My daughter adopted the mummy dolly and used to take...

It's a Dolls Life
Review of A Doll's House - Henrik Ibsen by
twingkelingstar
Advantages: complex characters
Disadvantages: felt a bit suffocated whilst reading
...A Doll House was the first of Ibsen's plays to create such a HUGE sensation and I think it is now perhaps his most famous play. It is my favourite Ibsen play. At the time when it was published, the play was highly controversial due to it's blatent criticicism of the standard Victorian marriage.
About the author
Henrik Johan Ibsen was a Norwegian playwright of the late 19th century. He brought to the European stage a whole new order of moral analysis that was placed against a very traditional middle-class background and developed with economy of action, powerful dialogue, and gusto thought.
Basically, Ibsen wrote for and about the middle class and life in the outskirts of cities and small towns. He focused completely on characters and psychological conflicts rather than dramatic situations. He is more character orientated and it...

I'M JUST A BABY DOLL.
Review of Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll Eau de Toilette Spray by
Morning_Becomes_Electra
Advantages: A very pretty citrus and spicy fragrance.
Disadvantages: It's quite sweet.
...*-- BABY DOLL --*
-- By Yves Saint Laurent --
I love all perfumes and Eau de Toilette by Yves Saint Laurent. Each one has its unique fragrance and I love the bottles that the perfume is contained in. Apart from the Opium which is a very heavy scent I have owned nearly all of their fragrances over time. Yves Saint Laurent is a French Fashion House who produce perfumes and a brilliant make-up range also.-
---BABY DOLL---
Baby Doll is a delightful fragrance aimed at the young end of the market. Baby Doll comes in a square shocking pink box, which houses the sweet, round, squat faceted bottle which is pointed to the base. Looking a little like a spinning top in appearance. Through the clear glass bottle you can see the sparkling pale pink Baby Doll perfume. The bottle has the same dimpled appearance that the Paris perfume...

Killer dolls!!
Review of The Doll Master (Subtitled) by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Not unwatchable
Disadvantages: Generally very silly
...Five young people have been invited to spend a weekend at an art gallery in the middle of nowhere, with the aim of having their faces turned into one of the many dolls that the gallery hosts. On arrival, it is soon clear that something strange is going on - and it is not just the weird and wonderful collection of dolls that are peppered all around the house. One of the girls, Yeung-ha, has a doll that she believes is a real person; so much so that when it is broken, she tries to kill another of the guests. And there is a strange girl wondering about the grounds who only appears when Hae-mi is around. Then the killings begin. What is going on? And will any of them escape alive?
There is a rather random cast of actors that play the roles in the film, none of which are particularly brilliant. Yu-mi Kim who plays Hae-mi probably has...

The Des Res in My living room
Review of Early Learning Centre Wooden Dolls House by
sandemp
Advantages: Classic toy that encourages imaginative play
Disadvantages: Initial cost
...As a child one of my favourite toys was my dolls house, I remember spending many happy hours making up stories about what happened to my miniature family. It was therefore quite understandable that as soon as my own daughters were old enough I wanted them to experience the same sort of fun. Not only that but after seeing a dolls house in the Early Learning Centre, my eldest girl was absolutely determined that she wanted Santa to bring her one for Christmas. After looking around, we decided that our girls only deserved the best, no flimsy plastic house for my little princesses, and we bought them the ELC Wooden Dolls House for Christmas, along with all the furniture sets, a garage, basement and of course the wooden family who were to reside there.
There are now two versions of the house available, the basic (the design of which has...
