...The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. S4's V8 strong at all speeds; test sedan did 5.6 sec 0-60.
Averages for manual-transmission test models: 1.8T sedan, 24.8 mpg; 1.8T Avant, 21.5; V6 quattro sedans,18.3-21; S4 sedan, 15.6; S4 Avant, 15.9; S4 Cabriolet, 14.1. Audi says CVT is 10 percent more fuel efficient...

Review of Audi A4 1.9 TDI
...I've driven Audi A4's for about 8 years now and I really think it's the best mid size saloon in its class.
My last two cars have both been the 1.9 TDI model and in my opinion you really can't go wrong with this car.
I traded in my 03 plate recently for a new car and the old one still drove like new, such is the reliability of the Audi brand. I had the old one for three years and had no serious problems with it at all.
The Audi dealership I deal with are always very courteous and efficient and they even fixed a boot catch fault for me at no charge which I thought was excellent customer service.
The A4 interior is plush, spacious and comfortable and all the controls, knobs and dials are chunky and feel well made.
The standard in car entertainment system is a radio and CD player of very high quality but if you are feeling flush the new...

Review of Audi A4 1.9 TDI
...the diesels it has to be said, that are extremely sensible purchases, either from a business or private point of view, this turbocharged 2.0 petrol model is less likely to be one of them though.
As a company purchase, the remarkably low 149gm/kg CO2 rating stands it in good stead, indeed its closest rival, the BMW 325 looks decidedly smoky and costly by comparison.
In view of the performance offered, an insurance grouping of 15 (out of a total 20) appears more than reasonable too.
Not a subject usually mentioned in my car reviews, but tyre replacement on this very powerful front wheel drive saloon is going to be a major budget item, if you do a high mileage, choosing the four wheel drive Quattro model will keep you from the tyre fitting bay for considerably longer.
PURCHASE COST 6 / 10
Looking around a basic Audi A4, there is no doubt...

Review of Audi A4 2.0
...was faulty, and the car reverted to a sluggish fail-safe mode designed to prevent harming the engine. On neither occasion was I left stranded, with the faults corrected shortly by the garage.
While not enjoying the benfits of a warranty, through buying a used A4 I have enjoyed a standard of motoring unavailble in a £9,000 new car and would recommend the car to someone considering it as a used buy.
During the course of owning my A4 I have driven five models from the new BMW 3 series range. My 4 year old A4 compared very favourably to a brand new 320i, and a professional driver friend of mine preferred my A4 to the 3 series. The engines in the 325i and 330i offered obvious performance gains, and the driving dynamics of the rear-wheel drive BMW are obviously different from those of a front-wheel drive car like the Audi.

Review of Audi A4 2.0
Advantages: A reasonably-priced guillotine for the home or small office. Disadvantages: The handle is rather heavy for the base.
...It came as something of a surprise at Bookbag Towers to realise that our fledgling business actually needed a guillotine. It wasn't just that we fancied it, or that it was a bit of retail therapy ? we realised that the cheap guillotine that I'd picked up at the craft centre simply wasn't cutting the mustard. It definitely wasn't doing anything very professional to the expensive card with lots of letters after its name. So - time to invest in something that would do a good job.
We wanted something sturdy enough to cope with the needs of a small business but we didn't need to invest in the type of machine which you'd find in a large office. We didn't need to spend that sort of money either. Finally we opted for the Avery A4 Office Guillotine which was said to be suitable for the home or the small business.

Advantages: Looks, Beautiful Engine, Value for money, Excellent chassis Disadvantages: Rear leg room
...The A4 looks sleek, sporting and yet solid. Its small headlamps and large grille give the front a slightly aggressive look, while the rear is tight and compact.
I?ve had my A4 for 16 months now and covered 25,000 miles of varying journeys from the 3,000 mile trip down to the South of France to the trip to the shops around the corner, and I?m still very happy with it.
The brakes are strong, even if their abruptness takes some getting used to. The slick gearshift makes you want to swap cogs just for the hell of it, the brakes have that reassuring Germanic efficiency while the well-sorted suspension handles bends with ease and cushions the bumps? even when these happen to come along at the same moment.
The 1,800cc turbo-charged engine can be very frugal if driven correctly; I achieved over 45 mpg on several tank fulls while...

Review of Audi A4 1.8T
Advantages: Looks, performance, price Disadvantages: ummm, nope, still can't think of any
...Thought it was time for an update seeing as I've had the car for over 6 months...
I'd always had a thing about Audis, I'd love an S6 but the budget won't stretch, so the A4 was an obvious choice. Looking at the range I had the choice of the entry-level 2.0 of the 1.8T in either 2 wheel drive or Quattro. Comparing the performance the 2.0 pushes out 130bhp with the 1.8T raising this to 150bhp, simple choice then. Comparing this with the 3 series, the 318 offers only 112bhp, with the 320 jumping upto 170bhp, though the new model increases capacity to 2.3 litres. After test driving both variants I decided on the 2 wheel drive, though the brochure gives the same 8.4sec 0-60 time, the 2 wheel drive seems quicker, probably as the Quattro has the power being put out to all 4 wheels. I must say though that the Quattro definitely has the edge...

Review of Audi A4 1.8T
Advantages: Very accurate, brilliant optical on almost all surfaces, SO comfortable to use, 5 buttons, 2 wheels Disadvantages: Not many! Only one wheel has a button though
...I've had the A4Tech WOP-35PU mouse for a long time, I remember getting it due to wishing to have an optical mouse but not spend too much, and it cost me under £10, so I was very surprised at how well it lasted, and most of all, how happy I was with the mouse.
In my opinion this is the best mouse I've ever used. I used to find Microsoft Intellimice the most comfortable, but this fits in my hand perfectly and is very well designed, with easy access to use all 5 buttons, so it is very well designed.
Visually, the mouse looks very professional, with a slight futuristic effect, amazingly without looking too tacky, so I'd definitely say it looks great.
The buttons themselves are reasonably light in touch to use, but not too light to accidently knock (the only slight problem being a very slight tendancy to knock the left side button by...

Review of A4Tech mouse
Advantages: Performance, Build Quality, Reliability, and Practicality. Disadvantages: Running costs may not suit all people.
...This is my second Audi A4, and I bought it on the strength of my experiences with my previous A4. My car is a 2002 model 3.0 Quattro Sport with the 6 speed manual ?box.
I bought this car used with 55,000 miles on the clock 6 months ago, replacing my previous car, which had covered 107,000 miles. The key strengths of this car are much the same as the previous car, namely: Reliability, Build quality, Comfort, Practicality, and Driving Involvement.
I bought this car, as I also wanted more performance, as well as a newer car with lower mileage. The 3.0 6-cylinder engine is wonderfully smooth and quiet in general driving, while under harder acceleration it provides a suitably sporting growl. The six-speed ?box doesn?t rev any lower in top gear than my 2.0?s 5 speed, but the closer ratios make it extremely flexible for open road/A road...

Review of Audi A4 3.0
Advantages: Improve accuracy with pen stylus, large mapping area/work space Disadvantages: Mouse not as robust as could be
...After using an optical mouse for many years, I felt I needed a new tool to use with my design work which would give me greater accuracy and control over my work. So, after begging the boss for a 'new toy', we got the Wacom Intuos3 A4 tablet at work.
It was very easy to install. It simply plugged into a USB socket on my iMac and once the installation disc had run, it was ready to go. Even though Macs come with drivers for most printers and other external accessories, I still ran the instal disc as it adds a new preference panel in the System Preference section. From here you can change the specifications for all the buttons on the tablet itself as well as on the mouse and stylus pen, along with the standard double-click speed, etc.
The tablet has a work area of approximately 297 mm W x 210 mm H (A4) and has a 1:1 mapping ratio...
