...For anyone here who read my last review of the canon compact photo printer, you'll know that I purchased a camera and photo printer for my daughter' birthday and well this is the camera. My main motive for purchasing the PowerShot 430 was because I needed a small, light weight camera, not particularly high resolution, but cheap, so that a person age 10 could use it, and when I saw this model I snapped it up for a price tag of £90. The canon is a cheap, no-frills digital camera. And for that, the camera performs well. Despite the fact that it is pink and has a few quality issues, the canon is a really good and simple point and shoot camera. Powered by two AA batteries, and weighing only 7.5 ounces, this camera is perfect just to slip in your pocket and take with you, on things such as school trips or holidays. Many people would say... Disadvantages: Poor picture quality; chromatic abberation, noise, no manual controls.

...not against Fuji as a brand. In fact I have thoroughly enjoyed their 2Mp F401 for many years until the CCD chip died a few days ago. That took far superior pics than this offering does. And apart from the fringeing problem, the E510 and E550 were otherwise excellent cameras, and when the CCD chip on my E510 goofed, Fuji repaired the camera very quickly under warranty. In the past I have tried a Canon Digital IXUS 500 which was compact and did actually take very good and sharp shots. I just didn't like the camera (for no particular reason) so got rid of it. Unless you REALLY want a wide-angle job, you could try something from Canon's current IXUS range (if it's still going) but not their A430 cos that can be a bit fuzzy/blotchy at times. If you want smaller, Olympus Miju's might be worth a look. If wide is a MUST you could check-out the Ricoh... Read review

Advantages: everything you need

...I got this product two christmases ago complete with th a430 photosmart printer. The concept behind this is fantastic, with the addition of a sd memory card you are ready to go. The camera docks into the printer to enable you to print photos and also to charge the supplied batteries. The latter is sometimes problematic according to the hp website the printer detects the energy left in the battery if the batteries are run down the printer assumes they are none rechargeable and refuses to charge them. According to the website you should buy new batteries by my bodge it solution is to leave them in your pocket till they are nice warm, then hey presto they charge again. Anyway back to the product the camera is nice and useful and the pictures are of very good quality especially at short ranges and longer ranges the pictures lose some... Read review
