Reviews of a65
A65 does the job but not so fast
Review of Siemens A65 by
penguinlegs
Advantages: Small, lightweight, good size colour screen, good deal on Virgin at moment with extra airtime
Disadvantages: Bit slow for each function to load (or maybe I'm just impatient)
...Could be that I am not so good with mobiles - only ever owned two (a Panasonic G520 and Nokia 8310 - power button broke) but I found it a bit difficult to get going with this A65. However my eight year old is finding it quite easy to navigate! Am now getting the hang of things and enjoy using the phone. It is WAP enabled and tri band, has predictive text and downloadable games (Stack Attack and Magic Picture are included one is a Sonic type game and Magic Picture is where you slide the blocks round to get the picture to appear - I may lose the phone a the kids love these games and think it is a mini playstation!).
The ringtone choices are quite boring and limited but you can download others. The sound quality is very clear. The colour screen is a good size and clear also ( a bit of a novelty for me anyway as I've never had...

a good first phone
Review of Siemens A65 by
bodsquidge
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: no built-in camera
...To cut a long story short, i ended up buying this phone for my son, although i wasn't as convinced as he would have liked me to be, as to how useful this would be.
As it was to be his first mobile phone, and even though he is a bit of a whizz kid when it comes down to buttons and options, i thought an "easy to use" phone would be best.
Simple to use doesn't necessarily mean that it's cheap or lacking options...in this case, simple just means that even I would be capable to work out how to use it! Well, i am blond... lol! pfff...
We did look around a while (at least one whole week! lol) before choosing the Siemens A65. We found it attractive in every way.

Is this the mobile for you.
Review of Siemens A65 by
JeffreyB
Advantages: Small, light. Potential as a starter phone.
Disadvantages: A bit slow, getting dated.
...It took sometime before I actually got around to purchasing a mobile phone, one reason I am still trying to assimilate WINDOWS XP. I started with a Motorola m3788. I soon found its size awkward and not suited to my needs. I needed a small phone mainly for emergency outgoing phone calls in and around town. After some discussion with my mum she surprised me with a Siemens A65 for Christmas, I had hoped to purchase my own phone for the new tax year. It's about a third of the size of the Motorola and fits comfortably into a shirt or jacket pocket.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
Mine arrived in a large red box about 2"x 6"x 10". Rather larger than the phone, I wonder why. Mine was carrying the Virgin logo (my choice of network provider - you can choose several). The box said made in China.
The box offers some useful information:

Doing Australia
Review of General: Australia by
mdtt1983
Advantages: The experience, The scenery, Meet new friends, It goes on...
Disadvantages: Need some money first, Travelling time
...from the booking agent. A day trip costed me around A$65 while a weekend if sailing, snorkelling and visiting deserted beaches (inclusive of meals) would cost about A$300.
PLACES TO EAT
Melbourne is definitely said to be Australia’s food capital and standards everywhere are good and there’s loads of veggie options available, especially around Bryon Bay. Many restaurants are bring-your-own so head to the bottle shop first. More info from www.citysearch.com.au
-Sydney-
Head for King Street in Newtown for cheap Thai, Leichhardt for Italian and cafes along the beach at Bondi and along Oxford Street in Paddington for lattes and people-watching. The best deal in town is to be found at Govinda’s Movie room (112 Darlinghurst road) where A$13.90 buys you an all-you-can-eat Indian buffer and a ticket to the upstairs arthouse cinema...

Cellar Restaurant Fantastique
Review of Cellar V - Guiseley by
pesky33
Advantages: Friendly faces, great food
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable chairs, can be pricy depending on what you pick
...with an old friend, I'm sure we'd have enjoyed it as much as everyone else there seemed to. Other bands also play there, and they sometimes host events like charity auctions too.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOCATION
Cellar V is in Guiseley, about 10 miles outside of Leeds, and quite close to Ilkley. It's very easy to find if you know the area, as it is located right next door to the Morrissons supermarket, and shares the car parking facilities. I couldn't find a map to help you, but it's on the main road through Guiseley, which is the A65. If you're in any doubt, just go to Guiseley and look for a gigantic yellow shop.
OPENING TIMES
Food is served from 10 am to 9 pm every day (except Sunday, when food service begins at 11 am). The bar is open until 11 pm...

Chish and Fips for Two Please Harry
Review of Harry Ramsdens (Leeds) by
pesky33
Advantages: Good prices, lots of parking, family environment
Disadvantages: Not much veggie option, some problems with parking for disabled
...went there.
He started selling fish and chips here in 1928, but three years later, and inspired by the sumptuous Ritz hotel in London, he decided to build the biggest and most elegant fish and chip restaurant in the world.
His philosophy is simple, and is visible today; fresh, good quality fish and chips, cooked well, served by friendly staff and good value for money. I’m going to look at what I think are important aspects when choosing somewhere to eat, and whether Harry’s philosophy is being upheld today.
LOCATION
The restaurant is on the A65 just outside Guiseley, on the way from Leeds to Ilkley. It is within 30 minutes’ drive from both Leeds and Bradford, and as Ilkley is a popular tourist destination, it would be an ideal place to go for a meal during a holiday stay in this area. They are also happy to accommodate coach...

Knights and damsels, this way....
Review of Skipton Castle, Yorkshire by
kitchengoddess
Advantages: Historically interesting, clear guide sheet, fun to explore.
Disadvantages: Not good for disabled or buggies as lots of steps.
...as there are lots of steps inside the castle, but they could get into the grounds fine.

2004 admission prices are;
Adults; £5.00
Children 5-17; £2.50

I Lake it Very Much
Review of The Lake District (England) by
sjl02
Advantages: Beautiful Surroundings, friendly town, lots to do for all ages, not over commercialised, good value accomadation
Disadvantages: the weather is often v.bad
...We decided to visit the Lake District recently for the weekend. It would have been much nicer to have stayed for longer as it's not possible to cover the District in 2 days, however if you're going there for a few days, then this guide may help.
Travelling -
Travelling to the LD is not hard, in our case from the South, it is extremely well sign-posted and we decided to take the scenic route through Ilkley, Skipton (A65, A590/591) up to Windemere, not the fastest but if the sun is out, it sets you in the mood for the Lakes.
An alternative route if you are coming from the South is to fight your way along the M6.
Accomadation -
We stayed in a B&B half way between Windermere and Bowness, 2 major towns in the Lake District. (www.st-johns-lodge.co.uk) The 3 star b&b was v.comfortable and served its purpose. Along with a good...

Pease Super
Review of Peasehill House Hotel by
DavidJWest
Advantages: Friendly atmosphere with superb menu.
Disadvantages: Small.
...and not notice it as it is located set back from the main road (Bradford to Harrogate, Harrogate RD. Just off the A65). In fact it is quite hard to find as you can almost not see the building as it is hidden behind a high wall, only being the size of a large house with all of 8 bedrooms!
The car park is not big enough really, but you can park on the street outside and the area is not condusive to having your tyres stolen. I remember the fun our wedding driver had trying to do a three point turn in the car park in his vintage Rolls Royce!
You definitely need to book well in advance if you want a room, or a meal for that matter as the food is excellent. Single rooms start from £40 a night with doubles £50. The rooms are not brilliantly equipped but very clean and quiet, the beds comfortable so you should sleep well. Of course I haven't tested...
