They come already charged, just like ordinary 'non' rechargeable batteries, so you can used them straight out of the packing. When they become exhausted through use, you pop them into any normal NiMH charger and once charged, they will HOLD THEIR ENERGY for so much longer. You can charge a set of these batteries and without use, they will still retain up to around 75% to 80% of their charge a YEAR later, losing only around 2% of their charge per month. Do Duracell Really Last Longer Than Other Brands?

Advantages: Last longer
Disadvantages: Cost slightly more than other batteries

...On a quiet weekend whilst watching the telly the Durcell advert came on where the bunnies were doing a bit of rock climbing and only the bunny with the duracell batteries made it to the top (whilst carrying the other bunnies who had inferior batteries). In the interest of science, and to combat boredom, I decided to test out the Duracell claim that their batteries last so much longer than other brands. So I popped down to the shops to buy a couple of bunnies...... only joking. Lasts ages. Just ask any bunny!

Advantages: Very long lasting
Disadvantages: A little large than the average AA battery

...Duracell batteries do last a very, very long time. This is probably a somewhat rare example of a product doing what the advert says it does! Last for ages longer than any normal battery! But that is, of course, a point to consider. Duracell lasts much longer than an ordinary battery, but does it last much longer than other Alkaline batteries made by other equally reputable firms for a little less money? Perhaps not. However, for the jobs that I need good, dependable batteries for, I tend to only use Duracell, because it is not worth taking the chance of embarrassing battery failure, is it? And I have to say that I have never had premature battery failure with a set of Duracells. And for some applications, rechargeable batteries are unsuitable. DURACELL!! BRILLIANCE!!!

...I bought a pack of these four AA Duracell Long Lasting Power batteries from Asda, and they set me back £2.85. I thought that this was a reasonable prce for batteries that will work many appliances around the home. The most I have seen these batteries for is around £3.60. I do think I got a deal for these four batteries. I have seen batteries from other manufacturers, and supermarket's own brands. I think that Duracell are a good brand and I have noticed that these batteries have longer life than other brands that I have used like supermarket brands, to see if there was any difference. There was. The supermarket brand would last around 3 hours in my digital camera, but the duracell batteries last me a few days. In the cardboard pack are four average sized AA batteries. Uniross AA rechargable batteries

Advantages: Easy to charge, long-life
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...I first came across this brand when I needed batteries more suited to my camera than ordinary, non-rechargeable AA batteries (as mentioned in my previous review). They were recommended to me by the cashier as reliable and perfect for what I needed them for, as they're good for longevity. I thought maybe these were the most expensive and that's why they were recommended, but they were about £25 for 4, which was cheaper than some other brands of the same description on display. I have since looked online and found both the batteries and the charger I use for a cheaper price, try amazon.co.uk and dell.com. The first time I used them, they lasted a good couple of weeks, alternating use between my camera and CD player. They proved especially useful in my old CD player, which usually stops mid-song, and I'll have to re-adjust the batteries...

Experiment with Batteries

Advantages: Good for low power items
Disadvantages: Don't last as long as Duracell

...I rarely buy Energizer batteries; although they are cheaper than Duracell they don't last as long. I put four AA Energizers into my digital camera and took 100 pictures and then downloaded them. I then did the same with Duracells and found that the Energizers were almost dead but the Duracells were only about half depleted. Duracells can be recharged, somewhat, in an appropriate charger (packaging says they can't); Energisers can?t. On Ebay a 4-pack of AA Energizer E2 cost £4.69, but Duracell Plus cost £4.99 but for 30p less money you'll get 40-50% less usage. Recommendation: Use Energizer batteries only in things like clocks and remote control units, but buy Duracells for things like digital cameras and CD players. ...Hi today I will be reviewing Energizer AA 2500 mAh Rechargeable Batteries. Price You can buy these from Amazon for cheapest £7.05 I got them for £10 from B&Q and I got a charger as well. Life I recommend fully charging these for first time use. I put them on for a day. From the full charge I managed to get a week use out of them. I use them in my Xbox 360 Controllers which are used by me and my brothers so they were on for most of the week. Charge While using the official charger for this product it takes around 6 hours to charge fully (Overnight). Size I find that these batteries are a little larger than the usual AA batteries because in my Xbox controller when I first got them in they took quite a lot of force to get them out again. ...Having had a previous Uniross charger for several years which had provided a stirling service until it was dropped and broken, I wanted to stay with a manufacturer I knew and felt comfortable with. After hunting down several models I narrowed it down to this 1 hour charger (model no. AAB04541-3) which charges both AA and AAA batteries, either two or four at a tiime. It will also charge either Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries. It comes with a mains plug charger adaptor (100-240v) and a lead for plugging into your car cigar lighter socket. The Uniross 1 Hr Charger also has a built in intelligent charger system to save over loading the batteries which is a useful feature when one may tend to walk off and forget you have left some batteries charging. The lovely Mr AA man.

Advantages: quick response, good customer service, good communcation, fix a lot of breakdowns
Disadvantages: some of the deals are quite expensive

...The AA pride themselves on being the UK's "number one breakdown provider". They provide a 24 hour recovery service for their members and there are different levels of cover available. Another claim made by the AA is that they "fix more breakdowns by the roadside than anyone else". I have never bothered with breakdown cover until I moved back home from university with the intention of commuting each day. I realised that if I were to break down on the hour drive to brighton there would probably be no one willing to come and rescue me!! On top of this my brothers car had broken down several times in the country lanes locally and I decided that it was a sign for me to start being sensible!
