Advantages: Easy to use with built in intelligent system Disadvantages: Odd exterior design
...Having had a previous Uniross charger for several years which had provided a stirling service until it was dropped and broken, I wanted to stay with a manufacturer I knew and felt comfortable with. After hunting down several models I narrowed it down to this 1 hour charger (model no. AAB04541-3) which charges both AA and AAA batteries, either two or four at a tiime.
It will also charge either Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries.
It comes with a mains plug charger adaptor (100-240v) and a lead for plugging into your car cigar lighter socket. The Uniross 1 Hr Charger also has a built in intelligent charger system to save over loading the batteries which is a useful feature when one may tend to walk off and forget you have left some batteries charging.
The 1 hour charging time is a little subjective depending on what power batteries you are...
Advantages: Well built, reliable, versatile, and performs well. Makes a smart gift. Disadvantages: none
...of their smallest offerings, cunningly entitled the 'Mini Maglite'...
>First Impressions<
-----------------------------
The Mini Maglite itself comes in two flavours - 2xAA batteries, or 2xAAA. The AAA version will be more compact, but will give correspondingly lower light output. As far as pricing goes, both units retail around the £15 mark. Although this may seem steep to you, bear in mind that this is not some cheap plastic energiser torch - it is a professional-grade piece of kit.
First impressions of this torch, as with any Mag-lite product, are very good. The unit itself is fashioned from quality aluminum alloy, making it light yet strong. There are a variety of gloss finishes, silver/black/red/blue/navy/purple/lime to name but a few, and this gives a nice selection when considering the Mag-lite as a gift. Incidentally...
...of washing machine opinions in the archives.
When I moved to my current abode, I was in need of a new washing machine. My previous model had given me a few problems ? such as the door coming off in my hand and other joys. I looked around all the major retailers, doing that price comparison thing they always say you should do, and in the end I opted for the Hoover AAA Whisper 1400. I wanted a machine that would last, that was efficient and that wasn?t one of those hideous Dyson mutations. I also didn?t want a combined washer and dryer ? I prefer to dry clothes naturally. The Hoover model fitted the bill, so I duly handed over the cash, and the rest is washday history. Here?s what I think:
THE MANUFACTURER
I was attracted to the Hoover range, because I had read an article in Which? Magazine that advised that Hoover was the only British...

Review of Hoover AAA140
Advantages: Easy to use, quick, does the job, reliable Disadvantages: Overcharging is bad, does not automatically stop charging once full
...I recently bought one of these for work. We find that some of the older battery chargers we have weren't functioning properly and there was no way of knowing whether they had charged properly, or partly, or even at all. A little research showed that some of the latest superquick chargers are actually damaging to the batteries and also can be very dangerous, so I decided to aim at getting a middle of the road charger.
The Uniross Encore Classic Charger is a fast charger that takes around 3 hours to fully charge four batteries. This can be a mix of AA or AAA batteries, as the device allows for both to be put into each of the four slots at the front. It has a switch in case you only want 2 batteries to be charged, and you can do this easily as well.
Charging is incredibly simple. It comes with an adapter, so you plug it in, put it...
Advantages: Save a fortune in the long run Disadvantages: Initial outlay
...some at least can be recharged up to 1000 times. The charger I chose was the Uniross X - Press 150, which is currently available for around £3.99. All you need o do is plug in your batteries and recharge them a small leaflet comes with the charger to give times and indications of times for various types of rechargeable batteries. The reason for different types is that some are low amperage for radios and low power consumption devices, and the higher amperage batteries like the 2100mh are designed for high power devices such as digital cameras.
The X-Press 150 has four battery positions which means it will charge 4 AA or 4 AAA batteries simultaneously. The battery holder is spring loaded to allow for the variation in the length of the two batteries. It will also charge the square PP3 type battery and will comfortably take two...
Advantages: Cheap, reliable, long lasting, reasonable price. Disadvantages: Still gets warm. Plastic plug = breakable?
...believe that most of my batteries have charged in about 60 minutes, on a full charge from an empty battery. As well as getting the charger, which plugs straight into the wall it includes 4 x 2500mAh Ni-Mh AA's (which are in sliver, and look quite attractive, you won't get these thrown out as they definately stand out from panasonic and duracell) You can charge AAA batteries however the sale only comes with 4 AA batteries.
It has a sensor control, a red and green light, to tell you when it is still charging and when the charge is fully complete. Another helpful feature is that it includes a car adapter for no extra cost. This charger the Sprint 90 accepts Ni-Mh and Ni-Cd batteries, in both AA and AAA Formats, charging them in sets of 2 or 4 at a time. Also charging 2 batteries will reduce the charging time.
Overall the charger is quite...
Advantages: Charges quickly, easy to use. Disadvantages: Doesn't feel too strong... Not much of a problem.
...I bought this so that I wouldnt' have to keep paying for batteries all the time for my camera. Most battery chargers cost a lot more than this one did (I bought this one for about £12, from Amazon), so it was good to get a deal on it.
The package includes the charger itself, 4 AA batteries and a car adapter, so you can charge your batteries in the car.
The batteries are easy to insert, there are two spring-loaded extensions that spring out. These are so you can charge AAA batteries as well, and they fold away when you're charging AA batteries.
I find that charging batteries doesn't take very much time at all, I just leave them in for a short while and after a short while the red light turns green to show that the charge is complete.
The build of the charger doesn't seem very strong, it feels rather plasticky. However, I haven't had...
Advantages: Low cost, Car charger inc, fast charge times, battery charge detection Disadvantages: Cautious on overcharging leaving batteries not 100% full
...I picked up this charger a few days ago for £8 with 4 1000mah AAA batteries which seemed like a great price to me for a 'Smart' charger.
In the package I got the charger (quite slim) a standard plug adaptor and a car charger making it ideal to take around with you ensuring you never miss out on a photo perfect moment.
The charger has space for 2 or 4 AA or AAA batteries and has quite a rapid charge time. Here are the charge times quoted by Uniross:
Charging Times: AA 1300mAh : 120 mins, AA 2500mAh : 255mins, AAA 900mAh : 180 mins
It is not the fastest charger around but clearly not the slowest. The main reason why I choose this charger was as it had a charge detection system allowing it to detect how much charge a battery needs until its full. This would be standard you would expect but still many chargers are sold which...
