Pure Gold from ABBA as usual

Advantages: Great songs, some real hidden gems in there
Disadvantages: Only 2 tracks I didn't like

...I have always liked ABBA since I was little - grew up in the 70's and 80's and therefore ABBA was part of my childhood before I became a teenager. I had a voucher/giftcard thing for HMV as a xmas present and decided I'd go for 'More ABBA Gold' CD Album, I already had ABBA Gold Greatest Hits, which has all their most popular tracks (won't bore you with those, as I'm sure you can guess what they are) so thought this would be the next logical step to listen to some of ABBA'S less well known tunes. I scanned the back to see what tracks (if any) I had heard of. Out of the 20 tracks I recognised (by name) about 8, although thought to myself if I listen to the album I might recognise a few more. Advantages: A comprehensive compendium of the greatest hits
Disadvantages: None to speak of.

Advantages: Strong production, vocals, melodies and musical ability

Advantages: Pieces of perfect 70s pop
Disadvantages: Some less-than-great songs, and some of them sound dated

...Together with "Abba gold", this album gives you all the Abba you will need. All the hits, and all the other songs you know, even if they weren't hits. However, taken on its own, "Abba - More gold" is undeniably a second-best Abba 'greatest hits' collection. It is just nowhere near as good as Abba Gold. There are certainly some great songs on this collection, but the hits here are mainly from either the beginning of their career (Ring Ring and I do, I do, I do, I do, I do) or the towards the end (Summernight City, Angel Eyes, Under attack) - the lesser hits, we can safely say. Personally, I'm a fan of early Abba. I absolutely love "Ring Ring", and I think "I do, I do, I do, I do, I do" is probably my favourite of all their songs. Disadvantages: Maybe the producers make more synthesis with Abba Gold.
