A budget base for exploring Milan
Advantages: cheaper than many in the area, clean, comfortable, easy access to sights
Disadvantages: bathroom not great, no restaurant
...Named the 10th most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of living (Mercer's Cost of Living Survey, 2008), Milan isn't generally a city you'd associate with budget hotels. However, that was exactly what I was in search of when travelling to the city for a 3-night stay in October 2008. Knowing that a large proportion of my money would be spent on shopping and eating out, I was on the hunt for accommodation that was cheap, central and comfortable.
You'l struggle to find anything that fits the bill in the centre of the city - anything in the Duomo (cathedral) or main shopping areas tends to be more pricey, or cheap for a good reason (i.e., incredibly basic). We were happy to look a little further out, and eventually decided to book a twin room at Hotel Teco through laterooms.com.

Milan "No Ashtray" Malpensa
Advantages: Clean, Loads of restaurants, comfy seats
Disadvantages: No where to smoke
...Imagine being tired, yet handcuffed to a running machine thats on full pelt, welcome to Milan Malpensa.
The Airport that doesn\'t accommodate the needs of the smoker, (And the staff almost start laughing when you ask where the smoking area is!) brings to you the largest Duty free shop Ive ever seen in the EU, quite a few restaurants and cafe\'s and several bathrooms (Where the occasional smoker hangs out waiting to be handcuffed and pinned to the floor by the Italian Police)
The airport is connected to Milan by the Milano-Varese motorway as well by a dedicated train called \"Malpensa Express\". It is also connected to Linate Airport by a scheduled bus service. The Milan airport system has a third international airport, Orio al Serio Airport, which serves low-cost and charter traffic.
Malpensa handled over 21.7 million passengers...

Milan - February 2004
Advantages: Good shops, architecture and food!
Disadvantages: Cost and language.
...Milan - Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. I'm not really sure the best way to go there but we got the metro to Lotto and then walked. It was quite a trek though but I think there is a free bus from the metro.
We only went to see how big the stadium was and didn't realise that it was the morning after and AC and Inter game!
The outside area stunk off wee and we saw a knife on the floor which isn't necessarily what you want to see!
Anyway we walked the whole circumference of the ground then realised that you could get a tour for 12 euro.
The tour took us into the stand, showed the commentary boxes, the changing rooms, showers, players exit, the field, the interview area after the game and then the museum.
It is worth doing, they had a right task ahead of them cleaning up after that game though!

Milan and the Lakes
Advantages: Vibrant, cosmopolitan city and stunningly beautiful lakes
Disadvantages: Pricey, dirty and plagued by annoying gypsies
...I went to Milan in early May with my partner. I still don?t really know why I went there, but I suppose I was attracted by the allure of the big city as well as the proximity of the beautiful lakes of northern Italy. I stayed for 7 nights and paid £450 in total for the flight, hotel and transfers to and from the airport. Another £300 or so was spent during the holiday on travel, eating out and entertainment.
There is a lot to say, so I have subdivided my comments into suitable headings:
HOTEL:
The hotel, called ?Delle Nazioni?, was situated within walking distance of the railway station; this was infact one of the reasons why I chose it. Despite being rated three stars, it was a big disappointment; it would have rated no more than two stars in the UK. The room was very small and, although facing the inner courtyard, there was...

Milan in the spring
Advantages: Great shopping
Disadvantages: Smog
...Flights for a pound, how could I turn it down? Flying from Birmingham with Flybe to Milan Bergamo Airport was a new experience for me but the journey to Birmingham Airport is just over an hour from home and the parking is so close to the airport that you don't really need to get the courtesy bus.
On arrival at Bergamo there is a Bus to main Centro train station just o/s arrivals for just a few euros with a journey time of around 40 mins.
The hotel we chose - the Concorde was out of the City Centre but on one of the 3 tube lines and you could in fact walk in approx 20 mins. The hotel was, however, very luxurious and there was a fantastic Gelateria (ice cream shop) a couple of doors down and lots of other shops on the way to the Duomo which made up for the walk.
Aside from the tube there area also trams and buses and you can...

Milan is a great city
Advantages: easy to visit
Disadvantages: busy and chaotic during weekdays
...of Milan just one mile away from Duomo.
Has been built by Francesco Sforza, the ruler of Milan.
NAVIGLI
There are 4 ??Navigli?? in Milan.
They are channels designed by Leonardo da Vinci as water ways for commerce in/out of Milan.
The most famous is Naviglio di Ripa Ticinese where you can find a lot of café and small restaurants and night time places where you can listen jazz, blues or ??Milanesi?? songs
VIA MONTENAPOLEONE and VIA DELLA SPIGA
Both located just a wakaway from Duomo, they are the kingdom of fashion.
Gucci, Prada, Versace, Cartier, Missoni, etc.shops are located in these two streets.
Have a big pocket of money if you wish to shop.
SAN SIRO
Located 3/4 miles away from Duomo is the football (soccer) stadium for Milan AC and Inter Milan teams.
It has been renovated in 1990 and now looks like a rectangular...

milan good to visit but not to live there.
Advantages: plenty to do and see
Disadvantages: crowded polluted noisy dirty
...In 1984 I decided to see a bit of italy and get a job nannying out there. I ended up working for a lovely milanese family with 4 children, ranging from 4 mths,to 9yrs. who lived in a street called Via Lazorrotti.By summer we visited the mother of my boss-the countess of naples,no less, for the obligatory 6 week summer holidays!(That was fascinating, and would take another op just to describe her extensive villa, dungeon jewels/artefacts and her lovely ordinary friendly nature.)
If you have ever been to Milan, then you would know how busy, lively, crowded and noisy it is.I find it similar to London,smog-wise,and in summer the temperatures soar into the hundreds, and it is very, very humid.(not my favourite summer time place!)
I used to soak myself in the little half tubs they use out there at least three times a day because of perspiration...

Milan a Great Place to Visit
Advantages: so much to do and see
Disadvantages: not eneough time
...I have just returned from visiting my brother in Milan ,it was my forst trip over there and I really did enjoy it. What a lovely city. It is Italy's Cultural ,Industrial and Financial Centre. The capital of the north of Italy [Lombardia}. Also is one of the main fashion centres in the world and you can see why when you walk down the main shopping areas and see all the Designer Shops.
I visited the Catherdral-The Duomo which has more than 2,000 sculptures ,numberless spires and capitals. This is a must to visit when you visit Milan. Theopportunity to go up to the roof where you will see the amazing view of the city, that is breathetaking well worth it. One of the largest churches in the world and even though the Catherdral is very large there is a elegant feel to the building. They started to build it in 1386 by Gian Galeazzo Viscanti...

Nice, But Oh So Plain!
Advantages: Adidas quality, nice material, simple but stylish looks.
Disadvantages: Rather plain for an away shirt.
...AC Milan are known for their iconic home shirts...sadly their away shirts often leave a lot to be desired.
The Milan 05/06 away is certainly not a bad shirt but it is, in all honesty, a little boring.
Here are the basics:-
Manufactured by Adidas.
White in colour with red and black trim.
Embroidered Adidas logo in black on the right of the chest.
Cloth AC Milan club badge on the left of the chest with embroidered gold star above it.
Opel logo and ZAFIRA printed across the chest in black.
Made in Adidas' CilmaCool material.
Available in short sleeve and possibly long sleeve too, though I've only ever seen the short sleeve available.
Sizing is the standard Adidas with approx. chest sizes as follow:-
Small 34/36"
Medium 38/40"
Large 42/44"
Extra Large 46/48"
XX Large 50/52"
To help with spotting fakes, the swing...

AC/DC High voltage at the flick of the switch
Advantages: Provides constant and safe voltage
Disadvantages: Only works with Fuji
...Possession
*************
Possession is nine tenths of the law, claims the saying.
It is never really true, but the saying persists.
In this case, possession of a Fujifilm AC 5VH adapter, was nine tenths of the reason for this review. The other tenth, was the fact that I was flicking through Ciao's Member Centre. I had clicked on the part that highlights products which have not yet been reviewed and which could provide a lucrative reward - doubled during June.
First product listed was this one, and so a review was essential.
Challenge
***********
The challenge, clearly, is what to say about such a must-have, highly trendy object of desire, as an AC adapter for a Fuji camera.!!??
Unkind people who know me professionally or as a Ciao reviewer, will no doubt snigger and reckon that it is no major challenge for me to speak...
