The One Account
Advantages: Paying off your mortgage quickly and saving you thousands of pounds
Disadvantages: You need a lot of common sense and future vision to benefit from this account
...I HAVE WROTE AN UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. HOPE YOU ENJOY READING AND PLEASE FEEL FREE TO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WISH. GARY.
The One Account?...where to begin??? Well for a start you need to have a common sense mentality, or this product will simply not work for you.
The account works by purchasing your house on your switch card, i.e. you have a massive overdraft; as simple as that.
You then pay in your wages and any other sums of money you can get hold of into your account, and hey presto, you simply pay off the debt.
Why does this product work for me? Well my scenario is that my I own over half of my property, so I benefit from the lowest rates of interest that they offer. If you are not in this situation then the account is not really for you as better deals can be found. Now for the interesting bit?..can you save money?.or do...

Nationwide: Flex Account
Advantages: Good rates and great for internet usage. Excellent card when abroad.
Disadvantages: Slow to respond to internal e-mails.
...I have been with nationwide for many years and they have certainly improved. They have a wide range of accounts but best of all must be their Flex account. Once opened, it can be assessed on-line and money transferred from account to account with relative speed and ease.
One of its best assets is its debit card. If you travel abroad and need to draw out local currency, the card will let you but, you DONT incur any extra charges or fee's. You'll simply get charged the exchange rate for the amount. Well worth just for that reason alone.
Their interest rates are reasonable and, with many branches around, its not hard to get access. Morgage rates are quite good with competitive trackers.
The account comes with a cheque book but you dont have to use them. The branches also have cheque book sized ledges to keep track of your...

Step Account
Advantages: ease of use
Disadvantages: no credit line
...The Natwest, along with most other high street banks has now launched its new 'Step' account designed for people that cannot pass credit score tests. It comes with a cashcard, solo debit card and paying in book and has standing order and direct debit facility. The account can be opened without any initial funds, and the identification needed is relaxed , i.e: they will accept PROVISIONAL driving licenses, birth certificates, household bills. At my local branch, the staff wre most helpful, and my account was opened immediately, with my cards etc arriving within a week of opening the account. The best feature of this account is that you cannot spend what you have not got, but should you wish to repair your credit standing, if you manage your step account for 6 months without problems, you can upgrade it to a normal current account, which...

The One Account works for you and saves you money
Advantages: Excellent customer service, easy to use and saves you money
Disadvantages: Easy to over spend if you are not careful
..., maybe more importantly, where it is going. You can allocate every transaction against a category and run reports to show where your money is going; you can set up expected transactions which helps you with affordability; you can see what happens if you do x before you do it. There are too many reports to go into here but there are more than enough to give you the information you need.
Support
The One Account has an email facility so you can email the team and ask them questions, more often than not you end up getting a really good comprehensive reply within 24 hours. This also allows you to order cheque books, paying in books, statement holders etc. The team are also at the end of the phone and I have to say, they have one of the best customer services team I have ever dealt with.

SMILE CURRENT ACCOUNT: MAGDADH GOES ALL ETHICAL
Advantages: Ethical bank, good interest rates, cheap overdraft, OK site, Post Office OTC service
Disadvantages: Extortionate admin and penalty charges, can't remove overdarft, seems slow
...of my direct debits/standing orders to Smile as I still kept my other joint account for such purposes, so I can?t comment on the efficiency of their ?move? process.
*SITE NAVIAGTION*
Smile site has been recently updated (some time in the last year I think) and this has ironed out most of the annoying little usability problems it used to have.
The site is fast and clear, and the horrible pink colour Smile chose for its logo is not too overwhelming.
I don?t like Smile?s login process very much. It uses your account details (sort code and account number OR visa card number) and it means ? at least for me ? that I have to rummage for the cheque book or the card every time I want to log in, as I am not capable of remembering such long strings of numbers. After providing these data, you use a special security pin code (this is 4 digit...

Impressive Internet Accounts
Advantages: 24/7 access online, excellent customer service
Disadvantages: Not all accounts include offline access
...Just before Christmas 2002, I was reviewing my limited savings and decided they needed to be spruced up. They were languishing in various old bank accounts, which do not pay particularly high interest rates e.g. old student accounts. So, I thought I'd shop around on the internet.
I took a look at Egg because they have become such a well-known, trusted bank. Most people will have heard of the Egg credit card (0% balance transfers for 6 months - "the card that loves you back") but they may not realise that Egg provides a whole range of standard financial products including mortgages, loans, ISAs and, crucially, savings accounts.
Accounts Available
Egg offers 4 different types of savings account: Internet, Investor, Standard and Cash Card. Each account offers a slightly different method of access and operation e...

Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 17" TFT
Advantages: nice screen, good battery life, fast specs
Disadvantages: large size (price?)
...Apple mac-books, where to start...
ok, so to start,
it is an apple, that means you get a solid quality product and on the whole very good customer are.
this particualar apple is deffinatly more suited to being a media center than other laptops. At first glance you realise that it is a fairly large laptop, this allows for a big screen, which being an apple ffers clear vivid displays, unfortunatly the big screen increases the overal size and also uses more battery, however, the 4.5 hour yattery is still very good for an entertainment laptop.
The laptops technical specs include a very fast 2.5 ghz dual core proccesor which is very fast, the dual core allows it to tackle multiple tasks quicly as well as increasing the overall speed of the laptop.
The price is quite steep however, but i believe, if given the money, it is...

A FLEXible account
Advantages: easy to apply for, efficient customer service
Disadvantages: none found so far
...Nationwide accounts and get quotes for other Nationwide products (mortgages, credit cards and loans). It is an easy site to navigate and intuitive to use.
****How to apply for this account?****
I applied for my Nationwide Flex account over the internet. The form took quite some time to fill in - around 30 minutes but that was with all my details to hand, so you should allow a bit longer if you have to hunt around for information. It also took a couple of weeks to complete the process because my application had to be accepted, forms sent out, signed and sent back and then cheque books and cards sent out finally. I applied this way because I dread taking my 2 year old daughter into bank type environments as she is unable to remain silent for more than 2 seconds and is prone to outbursts of screaming suddenly for no apparent reason! If I...

Student Account at Abbey National
Advantages: Convenient, safe, friendly service
Disadvantages: Not featured in majority of campus bank units
...Students, I’m sure you’re aware, are fraught with money trouble. What with extortionate tuition fees and living costs to pay, not to mention the weekly dilemma involved in deciding whether to buy that textbook or a round of drinks, students need a stage for their financial drama complete with suitable props and cast to help make it a smoother performance all round. There are a variety of student bank accounts tempting you with cheap gifts, cash, or even inflatable chairs! But air-filled furniture isn’t going to pay the bills now, is it?
This is why you need a dependable and secure account to keep your mind from your financial blues. And hey, I’ve found one! Abbey National may not be the most popular choice amongst students, and there are some disadvantages, mainly branch accessibility, but I’ve found that...
