...My second attempt at a technical product review focuses on my Acer 17" TFT Monitor AL1711. I bought it as part of a computer package around 12 months ago - purchased seperately it will set you back around £325 incl VAT. My knowledge on computer components and accessories at that time was pretty basic to say the least, so I relied entirely on the expertise of a very capable sales assistant at a trusted, highly praised specialist shop on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. The basic package didn't include a flat screen monitor so I paid around £180 extra as I wanted to avoid the eyestrain and headaches so often experienced with conventional screens. Advantages: cheap, good quality laptop with decent features, upgradable.
Disadvantages: no bluetooth. memory will need upgrading if moving on to Windows Vista

...First off what an easy to use laptop full of built in features for a very reasonable price ( £349.99 upwards) was £380 when i purchased mine but is worth every penny. Why people pay in excess of £500 for machines with a lower spec is beyond me. Acer have come a long way in providing great quality laptops at a lower price. on first run you follow the setup options and then it recommends you create a restore disc i did this using 2 blank dvd's with ease just following the on screen instructions. once this was complete i did the windows updates to get it fully upto date. The inbuilt wireless adapter (Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adapter) connects so easy to my wireless network with a reasonable range even in the garden. The 15.4" WXGA wide CrystalBrite TFT LCD Display is just as good as its name suggests (crystal) it displays... Read review

Disadvantages: Not the lightest laptop available

...I recently purchased the acer aspire 9301 and so far i have been very impressed with my shiny new gadget. I picked out this model as after trying other ones that were available including the more expensive sony viao i decided that by buying the viao i wouldnt be gaining anything just wasting money on a fashion accesory. The Acer offers everything that you could possibly want and more and comes with a much more modest price tag. BASIC DESCRIPTION The 9301 certainly looks the part with its sleek silver and black exterior shell, 17 inch crysral brite tft display screen and a fabulous built in camera which swivels 225 degrees which allows the user to photograph themselves or someone sitting oposite them and can be used both for still shots and as a webcam. Advantages: its speed and performance

...be costly to do, especially if you cant do it your self and you might have to pay a computer technician to do the work for you. Also a bit of a glitch is that it could, and I do say could, void the warranty, now I am unsure about the warranty of this specific laptop however it usually goes, if you alter any setting of the laptop by unscrewing things inside of it, then usually the warranty goes, as if it no longer works it could be your fault. So this is something to think about and look into before you start altering things inside the laptop. Also hugely above the average is its hard drive, it has a fantastic 160 gb for you to store all your media and data needs onto. his laptop just doesn't stop disappointing us, and an example of this is its great screen.
