Review of Acer TravelMate 5520G-5A1G12 - Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 - 15.4" TFT by thewhitewolf

Advantages: looks great, does everything
Disadvantages: nothing

...I had this laptop for a while and it was the perfect machine i could ask for whilst it was mine. Before you ask, NO, i did not throw it away! i gave it to my sister and brought another desktop pc for myself. The Design Acer always seem to make nice looking machines in my opinion and this is no exception. The Travelmate 5520G-5A1G12 is a stylish laptop in full black casing apart from the mouse scrolling interface. I love the shiny finish and the toolbar of crystal blue quick launch buttons below the screen. It comes with a superb 15.4 inch widescreen TFT screen that is large enough for your working requirements and provides fantastic images in its 1280 by 800 resolution. It weighs 2.9 kg which is not very much, justifying its designation as a 'travelmate' laptop for on the move people. The Processor It's an Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 Mobile... Read review

fast cheap laptop
Review of Acer TravelMate 5520G-5A1G12 - Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 - 15.4" TFT by techno_man_37

Advantages: fast cheap
Disadvantages: design

...This acer travel mate is a really good allround laptop. Its really reasonable priced too, and you’ll be able to pick one of these up for just about £400. This is an acer travel mate, basically all travel mates are made by acer and designed customly for business users, however you could buy one for home use, and it doesn’t really make any difference apart from it does come with vista business, so you’ll get some extra software on there. Also it might look a little more smart than other laptops, this is because its made for the use In offices and maybe a sleek cool laptop aren’t allowed in offices? This one however doesn’t look too bad, its quite thin and is quite small too, which makes it very portable and very good for train journeys. A reason why its so portable is because it has quite a small screen... Read review

my perfect machine is ACEr!!!
Review of Acer Aspire 5520 by DC-DanielColeflax

Advantages: dream machine-perfect specs
Disadvantages: slightly mad touchpad, some may not like looks

...INTRO I purchased the Acer Aspire 5520G laptop from Tesco Direct for the cost of £499, about 3 months ago. I purchased the laptop as my third laptop after two very unsuccessful Gateway Laptops earlier in 2007. These two laptops were both around £100 cheaper and as it was nearly a year ago neither of them was as high a spec as this one, which is currently around the highest spec laptop I have seen under £700, even though it cost much less than that! The first thing that I should mention is that my laptop is a slightly different version and although it is an Acer Aspire 5520, it is the Acer Aspire 5520G version which has some slightly different features such as a slightly faster processor and a bigger hard drive than the standard 5520. OPERATING SYSTEM The Acer Aspire 5520G runs Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium as an operating system... Read review

Gateway MT6220B and MT6223B laptops
Review of Everything that starts with G ... by DC-DanielColeflax

Advantages: they look very nice and pretty
Disadvantages: just one-they don't work!!!!!

...and hopefully a better machine. When I got it home, the alluminium seemed to be sharper than on the other and seemed more rough, but still it looked good. I got it set up and once set up it seemed great, for two weeks. After this time it got slower and slower, to the point that it took hours to shut down when plugged in. I have since heard of other people with similar problems on similar machines. After the last machine I had I decided to take this one back straight away, no ifs or buts, no replacements. Just a refund. I got a refund and was no worse off than when I started though my dreams of a perfect laptop were alot further away. Months later in December I was hunting on Tesco Direct, as I had been for months and stumbled across a machine called the Acer Aspire 5520G. A very nice gemstone design laptop, and very high spec. I was somewhat better... Read review

Acer Aspire 5920. A real Gemstone
Review of Acer Aspire 5920 by kavit-007

Advantages: Cool with style, technology, user friendly with easy understanding
Disadvantages: Sensitive touch buttons, overweight,

...I purchased my Acer Aspire 5920G from Comet. So much for cutting prices. The laptop itself is cool, it's fairly fast, easy to use and really portable. The 15.4" inch screen is the perfect size. The laptop comes with the useful Acer Empowering software. Highly recommended laptop, the only problems I have had is with the sometimes buggy Vista. The keyboard isn't the best but I haven't had any problems with it. the touch sensitive media buttons on the right of the keyboard are too sensitive and i often end up touching them and opening the program by mistake. the Acer is fitted with superfast wireless with the inclusion of 802.11n. It also has a card reader and a camera. The laptop is great, lots of features, Acer have really pushed the boat out on this. A lot of people have been critical of the styling however I find it quite refreshing.... Read review

Ace laptops by Acer,
Review of Acer Aspire 6371R by Takiraj101

Advantages: Dependable, cheap, exceed expectations!
Disadvantages: Not applicable.

... Ace laptops by Acer, I have got an acer aspire 5315 laptop with an intel celeron processor, 64MB graphics, 512MB RAM, 15.4'' screen, 80GB hdd, built in wireless and a dvd super multi re-writer drive. It is very well designed when it comes to style with its acer pebble design and it is very dependable. I am very pleased with my laptop and what makes this all way better in my opinion is the price that you can buy acer laptops at. My laptop for example only costs around £300 in the shops and still is good enough to withstand all the stuff i do on it ranging from browsing the web to programming software in visual basic or visual c++ and even has proved itself well capable of playing games well which many computer gamers would never expect of a computer with only 64mb graphics and a proccessor that is not dual or quad as you can now... Acer is Ace
Review of Acer Aspire 3661WLMi - Celeron M 410 1.46 GHz - 15.4" TFT by buckydaman

Advantages: Just like the make its Ace, good for first time laptop buyers
Disadvantages: for advanced users they will want just that much more

...Acer have come a long way and you can tell they have put so much effort in giving the comsumer great products. This is shown in their technology. The Acer Aspire 3661 wlmi is a great laptop for first time users and at a fantastic price is more than value for money. I brought this computer for the wife who as little PC experience and wow how quickly she has progressed using this laptop. I have taken full advantage of the built in WIFI so the Aspire is taken everywhere around the household. It runs at about 1.5ghz which sounds a little slow but dont let that fool you, built in PCI Express makes it run 4 times faster than traditonal PCI. The Acer Arcade (softwhere) multimedia suite is fun to use and very easy. it caters for all your needs like photo's and playing you dvds. So many more features but i will leave you all to experiance... Read review

Not so Acer Keyboard
Review of Acer keyboard by skrg28

Advantages: Compact, wrist wrest
Disadvantages: Cheap feel

...I received an Acer keyboard for my work PC not to long ago. As with most keyboards where you can't choose you take what you get. The ACER KB-2971 is by far one of the most basic keyboards you could get. It's a standard UK keyboard layout with num pad. With an all black finish there is nothing much to report here. One thing I have noticed in the past is that on some cheap keyboards the letters on the keys start to wear off but to date there is no problem on this keyboard. Key action is not actually that bad. In fact it is really quite good. If you have to type for a long time and if you type as bad as I do then your fingers start to get sore after a while. No such problems here, key action is light but responsive. One additional feature with the keyboard is the addition of a separate wrist rest. This attaches to the bas... Read review

Disappointed...
Review of Acer Aspire 3614WLMi - Celeron M 380 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by bradders1011

Advantages: Inbuilt wireless LAN
Disadvantages: Inherent design problems, lack of tech support

...I bought my Acer because I'm an F1 fan, and they sponsor Ferrari. I guess I was conned by the marketing man! For the first 6 or 7 months my Acer worked perfectly, it was fast and had no problems whatsoever. Then things started to go wrong. 1) The screen is weak, cracks began to appear at the bottom on both sides. 2) The CD drive pops out every few minutes for no reason. I have contacted Acer who acknowledged it was an inherent problem with the Aspire, yet there is no fix. 3) I have had to reset it twice, due to unexplained slowing up in the processor. 4) The standby sensor on the lid has stopped working altogether. There were also some longstanding annoyances: Although there is a 'bluetooth' button on the front, this is not included in the package. Also, the tech support from Acer can only be described as awful. Every reply just... Read review

AMD turion tl-58:- a great prcessor all round
Review of AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology TL-58 processor ( mobile ) by DC-DanielColeflax

Advantages: speed, perormance, no dodgy intel media graphics
Disadvantages: none really

...I have a nice little Acer Aspire 5520G laptop with this processor, that I bought last December from Tesco Direct. One of my major worries when I bought the laptop was that it had an AMD processor as apposed to an intel processor. In the past I have used intel Pentium D, Intel Pentium Dual Core, Intel Celeron M, Intel Celeron D, Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium 3 and well you get the idea, lots and lots of Intel processors. Having never used AMD before I sought advice from an IT expert at college and asked whether there were any major differences or problems with AMD. He told me that although AMD had had some bad press in the past they had been getting better and that he had a computer that used an AMD Duron that was fine. After this I opted to buy the computer regardless of the AMD processor, and I am very glad I did. SPEED... Read review
