For the price.... Perfect. The acer Aspire 5738ZG
Advantages: ram, processor speed, design, screen, price
Disadvantages: none so far
...After giving up on my 2003 Packard Bell laptop, I decided to buy a new one. Now with 1000's of laptops available on the market. Where do you start? How do you decide which one is better than the other.
First look at your budget. I had up to £400 to play with. You can get a good Laptop for this price nowadays. Whats a good laptop?
I wanted something fast. Tired of wating yonks for web pages to load. Tired of crashing programs. So good RAM too.
For speed you need a good processor and RAM. With this computer I got both at a good price. 4 gb of RAM and a intel core duo 2 processor wont leave you stuck in mud.
I wanted a good quality screen too. It has a nice and bright 14.5 inch screen, It is glossy and slick. Very nice. You can watch movies on it no problem and video games too.
Mine came with 150gb of hard drive. Enough...

fast cheap laptop
Advantages: fast cheap
Disadvantages: design
...This acer travel mate is a really good allround laptop.
Its really reasonable priced too, and you’ll be able to pick one of these up for just about £400.
This is an acer travel mate, basically all travel mates are made by acer and designed customly for business users, however you could buy one for home use, and it doesn’t really make any difference apart from it does come with vista business, so you’ll get some extra software on there.
Also it might look a little more smart than other laptops, this is because its made for the use In offices and maybe a sleek cool laptop aren’t allowed in offices?
This one however doesn’t look too bad, its quite thin and is quite small too, which makes it very portable and very good for train journeys.
A reason why its so portable is because it has quite a small...

Acer Aspires To Be A Proper Laptop, And Nearly Pulls It Off
Advantages: Very portable, excellent keyboard. Battery life OK but not what is stated
Disadvantages: Slow to boot from 'cold'.
...-books is that they're all 'much of a much-ness'. For example, there's a whole clutch of them from half a dozen makers like Acer, Compaq, HP, Toshiba etc all sporting the same Intel processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM, a 160 gigabyte hard drive and a 10.1" screen, and all, it would seem somewhere around the £220-£250 mark. Likewise, they were all sporting Windows XP Home Version as their operating system. The doubtful benefits of a shift to Vista seem to have been resisted presumably to keep the price down, in the hope no doubt, that Windows 7 was 'just around the corner', which of course for main stream machines, it is.
Some even sport a free Linux operating system to help even further with the shekels.
THE CHOICE IS MADE
Thus it was that my eye was caught by an Acer net-book sporting twice as much RAM, a 250 gigabyte hard drive, and all...

Big laptop Small money
Advantages: small money for perfect performance
Disadvantages: none
...often.
Last ,but not least, I think it is a great laptop for the price. I used to have a dell, and decided to go with another because you can't beat the performance for the price. The main items provided by Inspiron 1545 are Intel Celeron Dual core, Windows Vista(home premium including media),15.6in widescreen and 2048MB memory. I especially like the wireless functions. It gave me more freedom when I moved from one room to another room.
Overall, fabulous laptop for enjoyable experience.

Nice laptop, FAB extended warranty!
Advantages: Good specs, fast, wonderful extended warranties
Disadvantages: Feels a bit flimsy, no indicator lights showing wifi connection, etc.
...This is really more a review of Dell's warranty than of the laptop itself, but as there was no section for such a thing I thought I'd combine the two.
The laptop: It's a good little machine with pretty good specs for its price. You can already get more for your money than when we bought it just a few months ago, so check the current offers (make sure to look around the Web site, as I found by clicking on various offers I got the same machine for less) You can also now get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when that comes out later this year. It's fast, cute, and does everything
we need. You can get it in a variety of colors, either for free if there is an offer on or for about 30 quid otherwise. Black is free whether an offer is on or not. Also, some have said it's not good for gaming -- that is probably only true if you are a hardcore gamer...

Acer Apire 5315 Laptop - Brilliant Price - High Quality
Advantages: Widescreen, good memory, easy to use, not bulky
Disadvantages: Not a long battery
...Last Christmas my parents bought me this Laptop for my studies and for general use. This Laptop has been brilliant, i have knocked it off the table (by accident) and it was absolutly fine. It is slim, looks smart and easy to use. It has a very clear 15.4inch screen and an 80G ram. I have stored 4000 songs, and many many photos on here and it is still running as fast and clear as it did when I first got it. The price for this Laptop was bery good, it came to £350 which is very good for such high quality. It comes with games, and you can personalise it to make it personal to your taste, such as colours and themes. The keys are easy to read, it doesnt make any loud whirring noises and plays music back very well. I would highly recommend it for anyone buying their first laptop, or buying it for their children. Its very good for watching...

Wowwee
Advantages: looks great, does everything
Disadvantages: nothing
...I had this laptop for a while and it was the perfect machine i could ask for whilst it was mine. Before you ask, NO, i did not throw it away! i gave it to my sister and brought another desktop pc for myself.
The Design
Acer always seem to make nice looking machines in my opinion and this is no exception. The Travelmate 5520G-5A1G12 is a stylish laptop in full black casing apart from the mouse scrolling interface. I love the shiny finish and the toolbar of crystal blue quick launch buttons below the screen. It comes with a superb 15.4 inch widescreen TFT screen that is large enough for your working requirements and provides fantastic images in its 1280 by 800 resolution.
It weighs 2.9 kg which is not very much, justifying its designation as a 'travelmate' laptop for on the move people.
The Processor
It's an Athlon 64 X2 TK...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop
Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now
...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks).
Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. At the time...

Acer Travelmate 7730 Laptop
Advantages: Big Screen, Good Looks, Nice To Use
Disadvantages: Heavy
...As I do quite a lot of travelling with my job, I decided it was about time I invested in a laptop. My desktop at home is an Acer Aspire and it was very affordable when I bought it in comparison to some other makes, having had it a good few months now and experienced no problems with it, I decided the new laptop would also be an Acer.
My budget was around £650 when I started looking about 2 months ago, and I found the Acer Travelmate in my local PC World just about on budget. It ticked all the boxes, as my new laptop would be being carried around in the boot of my car most of the time and the only real carrying of it I would have to do would be into a hotel room really, size and weight did not really matter to me. In fact quite the opposite really as I decided I would like a decent sized screen and a full size keyboard as then once I...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!
Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about
...the other types of dell laptop you can have one in every colour.
I also found the set up quite confusing with the desktop being along the top. It seems quite similar to an apple mac design and I couldnt understand that when I had one. It doesn't seem as confusing as that though. The price of this laptop averages between £400 and £500, this to me seems a bit extreme seen as it doesnt have a webcam like the other notebook laptops. It also has a 34mm express card slot rather then the 54mm which is more usual. It does have all the basics such as three USB ports and microphone and headphone jacks but is it worth paying the money for these basics that you could find on a cheaper model.
A positive point is that the key board is easy to use and the mouse pad. It is also a light laptop so easy to carry round and because it is thin it is thin...
