Acer Aspire 5101AWLMi - 15.4" TFT
Review of Acer Aspire 5101AWLMi - Turion 64 mobile technology MK-36 - 15.4" TFT by
maggot13
Advantages: cheap, good quality laptop with decent features, upgradable.
Disadvantages: no bluetooth. memory will need upgrading if moving on to Windows Vista
...First off what an easy to use laptop full of built in features for a very reasonable price ( £349.99 upwards) was £380 when i purchased mine but is worth every penny. Why people pay in excess of £500 for machines with a lower spec is beyond me. Acer have come a long way in providing great quality laptops at a lower price.
on first run you follow the setup options and then it recommends you create a restore disc i did this using 2 blank dvd's with ease just following the on screen instructions. once this was complete i did the windows updates to get it fully upto date.
The inbuilt wireless adapter (Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adapter) connects so easy to my wireless network with a reasonable range even in the garden. The 15.4" WXGA wide CrystalBrite TFT LCD Display is just as good as its name suggests (crystal) it displays...

Acer Aspire 9100
Review of Acer Aspire 9100 by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Fantastic laptop
Disadvantages: One or two minor niggles
...'s also a DC power in socket.
It employs a 64 watt Li-ion battery pack which offers up to 3 hours of operating time and comes with a 64 watt AC adapter.
The dimensions are as follows:-
360 (W) x 265 (D) x 32.2 / 35.0 (H) mm (14.2 x 10.4 x 1.3 / 1.4 inches) 2.90 kg (6.50 lbs.) with 15.4" WXGA screen.
The keyboard is easy to use, though it does have a nasty tendency for the cursor to suddenly "bounce" of several lines so that your typing will suddenly appear in a higher line on your document. A very annoying problem. It is possible that this is a side effect of a feature on the Acer Aspire 9100. When I can get some time, I'll check this special feature out!
Also, do not expect too much of the TV tuner. It is OK, but does not work quite as well as one might hope. So you might as well go for the version without the TV tuner.
Both...

It's ACE-r!
Review of Acer AL1714sm by
DarkDave
Advantages: Picture quality, slim design, value!
Disadvantages: Poor quality integrated speakers.
...behind the fruit and veg! The one that particularly caught my eye was a 17" slim and sexy offering from Acer, marked up at an incredibly tempting £149.95. Well that was it, I was smitten and we proceeded to the checkout with our milk, sugar, eggs and computer screen!
Getting it home, and whipping open the box, I was greeted with a bundle of cabling, a black plastic oval thing, which turned out to be the base for the screen, an instruction book and CD containing the user manual, and of course, the screen itself. As I said this is a 17" monitor, so it's quite a noticeable presence on your desktop! The casing and housing of the monitor is pretty minimalistic, with maybe an inch of silver plastic surrounding the screen on three sides. The fourth, bottom, edge is about twice the thickness, as it houses the power, menu and adjustment buttons...

...Acer Extensa 5210, DDR2 512MB, 80GB HHD, 1.6ghz Celeron processor, WLAN, DVD writer:
My laptop came with a Windows Vista basic installation. (For those who would like to instal Windows XP your warrant may fly through the window. I needed to get XP SATA drivers on floppy to install XP...and also changed the bios version (refer to instruction on acer website).
Anyone purchasing it will notice that it has a blue tooth adapter sliding switch on the front face, only that I did not realise at first glance that there was actually no bluetooth adapter inside. One has to buy an external bluetooth adapter to use with this laptop...but the laptop has bluetooth capability...only no internal BT adapter.
Overall perforemance: good...

Acer Travelmate 4000 Review
Review of Acer TravelMate 4000 by
RaSz
Advantages: Fast, good graphic, thin
Disadvantages: low quality sound&screen, mal placement of ports
...watching movies on her laptop instead of mine, although the travelmate has a 15.4 inch widescreen)
The thing that really makes me question the logic of Acer manufacturing this unit is the placement of the ports. There are two USB 2.0 ports on the right side, and one on the front. This is not a good idea since the adapter simply has to be somewhere where it keeps being in the way for me while working. The worst placement though is that of the audioconnections on the front. Unless you have small walkman headphones the wire keeps being in the way; and this has actually led to me wasting a couple of 40£ computer-headphones whereas the connector finally has been bent.
I would still consider buying this laptop since it (and newer versions) will give you the best performance for the money; so if you need the speed whilst working consider paying...

Interview with an Intel-ligent girl.
Review of Acer Aspire 3613WLMi - Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
Newboy3
Advantages: Low price; wide screen; high build quality and reliable mobile performance.
Disadvantages: Disappointing battery life
...Acer Aspire 3613 WLMi Notebook
START THE TAPE
"My name is Acer and I am a computer." The voice was soft and sultry and came from the two built-in speakers at the front.
"I am the Acer Aspire Notebook 3613 WLMi. But you can call me Ace."
"I'm a modern multimedia notebook, slim and sexy with an Intel heart of gold. And I'm very smart. Why, I'm so clever," she giggled, "I even have letters after my name!"
"I first met NB in Tescos. He was wandering around looking kind of lost, when suddenly our eyes met across a crowded aisle. He decided to pick me up. I guess you'd call it love at first sight." She paused for a moment, a hint of regret in her voice.
"Well ok, I know he's kind of dopey and not the brightest LED in the circuit, but I was young and inexperienced and.... I guess I was just glad to be out of there. I didn...

Trust lives up to its name
Review of Trust Power Master 4-in-1 Notebook Power Adapter PW-1280p UK - power adapter - 90 Watt by
amsterdamage
Advantages: Universal usage; affordable; multi-purpose; well-designed
Disadvantages: Larger than most adapters; was not suitable for my phone model
...Trust, an electronic gadget company, has provided me with Trusty and affordable electronic bits and bobs for years. Much of their catalogue is basic but practical in nature - I remember a small spycam I had when I was younger about the size of a cigarette lighter, and a USB webcam that did its job perfectly, all with accompanying and handy software.
When my Acer Aspire 5101 laptop adapter (charger) began deteriorating before Christmas, I had a bit of a panic attack. Not only are Acer chargers for my model less than readily available (at the very least, I would have needed to order off the internet and go through the stress of making sure I was home - which I never am - when it was delivered), but a few educated internet reviews of my Acer adapter by engineers/techies made me realise the adapter itself is poorly designed, with little...
