ACER AL1951As TFT Monitor
Review of Acer AL1951As by
craggybuk
Advantages: Crystalbrite Background, DVI, 8ms response
Disadvantages: Bulky power supply
...I had this monitor sent to me by Acer after my previous monitor, the AL1914 was deemed beyond repair. My first thoughts were of excitement as the 1951 was of a considderably higher spec than the old monitor.
My excitement became a reality when I got the monitor set up. On opening the box, I found the monitor itself, the power supply, and both a VGA and DVI cable. The stand was already pre-fixed to the monitor and this also doubles up as a wall mounting bracket, should you wish to attach the monitor to the wall. On the back of the base there are sockets for the mains power supply, one for the VGA cable, one for the DVI cable and one for an audio feed, should you wish to make use of the monitors internal speaker. Personally I prefer to use my own speakers so I am unable to comment on this feature.
The first thing you will notice...

This is a bargain
Review of Acer AL1715s by
techman1862
Advantages: The 1 we got from ebuyer was 8ms and not 12ms we paid for
Disadvantages: speakers are tinny
...I recently updated my computer setup and took the plunge and got a flatscreen monitor.
I spent a while looking at models and reveiws and after much thought and costing I went for the Acer AL1715s.
On the website we use "ebuyer.com," it was listed as being 12ms which is good and the res was brilliant too. When the monitor arrived it was infact 8ms and had a better ratio too so it was a good purchase from that stand point.
The Acer itself was easy to setup with a metal black solid connection to the base plate which is pretty solid. After the connection was made and the cables attached it was connected to the computer. Using an ATI 256 mb 9550 graphics card it worked a treat. The monitor set itself up and if needed on the front of the monitor there is a big silver button to the left with AUTO on it and it does just that.
No dead...

22 inches that won't leave your eyes watering
Review of Acer AL2216W by
ausername
Advantages: 16.2m million colour TFT display, easy to use, great for gaming, wonderful contrast ratio
Disadvantages: A faster response time would make it THE ULTIMATE monitor for gaming
...I just had to tell more people about my 22" widescreen monitor and spread the word of the Acer brilliance packed in the AL2216W as my family and mates keep telling to shut up raving about it so here I am and these are my words on the AL2216W. For the record, it ain't cheap at £199.99 but you can't put a price on perfection and I would happily pay twice that for the AL2216W.
The monitor is widescreen and has a resolution of 1680x1050. With a contrast ratio of 700:1, the picture is sharp and really vibrant. Gaming online sometimes it looks like there has been an explosion of colours, with shading being far superior to any monitor I've used before and trust me, I've used lots and lots. The response time is nothing spectacular though at 5ms. It doesn't have any detrimental effect on playability when gaming but it could be improved to keep...

An Ace Acer
Review of Acer AL1711 by
waynehorrigan
Advantages: Good looking, easy to use, takes up less space
Disadvantages: A bit pricey?
...On 2nd October I posted a review of an HP Pavilion PC monitor. It was a replacement for my Acer flat screen monitor at work and was only a temporary measure. The very last sentence of the review said: "PS Get my replacement flatscreen ACER on Monday. Yay!"
Well "Monday" has come and gone and I'm now three months into daily office use of my Acer AL1711 monitor. So.....
I'm writing this review in a "non-teccie" style, and I hope you find it helpful.
WHAT'S THIS THEN?
It's a monitor - the device you're using at the moment to read this review on. The AL1711 as a product is about two years old .
WHAT DO THE MANUFACTURERS SAY?
"The AL1711 is a reliable solution to render the ergonomical benefits of LCD technology. The slim and compact design liberates the workplace transforming the computing area into a modern work or entertainment...

Sexy Acer
Review of Acer AL1714ms by
daz7035
Advantages: Cheap, Good quality
Disadvantages: not sure
...tend to distort at the higher range.
Another advantage to this TFT monitor is it will save you money as it reduces running cost with low power requirements and eliminated emissions. It also has an intergrated system to protect your eyes against strain.
The user manual, although small was very well written, easy to understand. This TFT Acer AL1714ms monitor comes with all relative drivers (Compatible with all operating sytems).
All in all this monitor is excellent value for money and I would have to recommend it, there might well be better TFT monitors about but I don't think you would be able to beat this for the same price....

Decent cheap high resolution monitor
Review of Acer AL2416WB by
smivs953
Advantages: very cheap, well made, looks good
Disadvantages: picture quality not as sharp as more expensive alternatives
...quality:
The picture on this monitor is not as good as the dell monitor that i have compared it to but then it is half the price, so you get what you pay for. The quality is still good and games look very good if used at the max 1920x1200 resolution.
Conclusion:
In conclusion this is a very good monitor for the money but if money is no object then i would maybe go for a Dell or a samsung. My housemate has a 22inch bought for a similar price and said he would trade it.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap 24 inch monitor for the high resolution.
i will also say that i own a second monitor for my other desktop that is a 17 inch acer monitor and it is still going strong after 3 years with no faults whatsoever so would recommend the acer brand to anyone as well....

Worth buying
Review of Acer AL1717As by
suar
Advantages: quality, resolution, weight, easy to setup
Disadvantages: looks
...When I was supposed to choose a computer screen for my new desktop about 6-7 months back, I was kinda shaky in going for Acer. As I had never really had an experience in using acer monitors.
But due to the budget, I went for the Acer 1717As. It proved to be the best I could have got for the price. No complications, light weight, Easy to use, Good quality, Good resolution, and everything what I was looking for. The only drawback being its looks. When compared with samsung etc, it looks kinda old but who cares. What matters is the quality.
Its got built in speakers which are not that great but still okay. Has an AUTO adjustment button, arrow keys buttons, a menu button and a power button. The menu has all the options like contrast, brightness, alignment options, 3 predefined profiles , 8 language options and reset...

Worth the money
Review of Acer AL1722hs by
DoYouReallyNeedThis
Advantages: Portrait mode, sturdy, good picture
Disadvantages: Doesn't fully turn off
.... I'm surprised how useful it is. It's reduces scrolling on the web and I've discovered some web sites put their "small print" (e.g. "watch out we collect personal data") just off screen in landscape mode.
It is remarkably easy to switch between landscape and portrait. The stand is solid and easy to manoeuvre. Acer supply software to rotate the Windows image for you, but I found it slightly clunky. I downloaded IROTATE instead. It's free and makes use of my graphics card software so I thought it would be more efficient. It seems quicker and more reliable; I've had no bother with it at all.
Installing the monitor was easy. I have Windows XP and I literally just plugged it in and touched the "Auto" button. The instructions are clear and there was no special software to load. After a lot of effort I did eventually find drivers for the AL...

An average LCD monitor for a great price
Review of Acer AL1751BS by
markays
Advantages: nice looking, lots of features, great picture quality
Disadvantages: limited resolutions for RGB and DVI inputs
...This widescreen LCD has excellent picture quality and i use it everyday for watching tv and using my computer. It is durable and i've had it for 1 year now with no problems at all.
It is unusually easy to setup and has loads of inputs on the back. The speakers on the sides work much better than many other products.
The monitor is light, compact, and looks very nice.
However, the max resolution for R | | |
