.... This new 17 inch monitor makes everything look a lot bigger, obviously because of the extra two inches but there isn’t that much plastic surrounding the screen which makes it look bigger. Colour sensitivity since I sorted out the focus the colour has looked phenomenal, it really picks out each colour very well and separates them just as well making the image look even clearer, and if you don't like the preset moods there are three others to choose from and you can customise it your self t get the image that you want. Design This monitor looks great; it has crisp lines surrounding the screen making it look very stylish. This is also helped by the colours used to decorate the black and the silver work so well together and compliment each other beautifully. Advantages: Cost, look, feel
Disadvantages: Well to be honest... not come across any

...As with any technology, you buy it on Monday and by Wednesday it is already out dated! The same goes for Flat Screen Monitors, but have you noticed how the prices have stabilised?? So I went out looking for a good monitor. Cost wasn't the greatest issue, I just wanted something good and less space consuming than my old CRT monitor. I looked at many brands and had a head full of refresh rates, size sizes and many other number and figures. I came to the conclusion that 8ms was good for a 17inch monitor and that I wouldn't notice flicking while waiting films etc. When I saw the Acer AL1716, it looked good, had a firm and secure stand, some screen stands looked and felt flimsy, the buttons felt solid and the menu was simple and with Auto setup, not really necessary. I have now used it for 6 months, everything is working as new... Read review

...I bought this acer model about a month ago as a birthday present for myself as i wanted a replacement for my rather bulky and ancient old monitor (it looked like it came out of the stone ages the amount of space it took up on my desk!!). I also wanted to have a bigger screen size so i could fit more msn messenger chat windows on the screen, without having to have miniscule icons! Having just finished Uni, i was looking for a cheap monitor that would perform well, and basically just be an improvement on my old one. I had no desire for anything fancy! And i have to say that i was impressed with it the moment i took it out of the box, and before i had even turned it on! ...I had this monitor sent to me by Acer after my previous monitor, the AL1914 was deemed beyond repair. My first thoughts were of excitement as the 1951 was of a considderably higher spec than the old monitor. My excitement became a reality when I got the monitor set up. On opening the box, I found the monitor itself, the power supply, and both a VGA and DVI cable. The stand was already pre-fixed to the monitor and this also doubles up as a wall mounting bracket, should you wish to attach the monitor to the wall. On the back of the base there are sockets for the mains power supply, one for the VGA cable, one for the DVI cable and one for an audio feed, should you wish to make use of the monitors internal speaker. ...The Acer 1916C. This has been with me for a while now, and I've connected it up to desktops and laptops. I've used this for surfing the net, playing games, watching videos and working on websites. I bought this mainly because I wanted a large (19") flatscreen monitor with a decent resolution, which I could use for working and playing on. I deliberately didn't go for the widescreen version of this because I expected to also play games on it. ...When I bought this screen around 6 months ago I had never heard of acer. It seems as if they are everywhere now and they are apparently in the top 5 branded branded pc vendors so they must have had a meteoric rise. I'll have to say that this is the only acer product that I own but can see why they have grown so quickly. ...On 2nd October I posted a review of an HP Pavilion PC monitor. It was a replacement for my Acer flat screen monitor at work and was only a temporary measure. ...My second attempt at a technical product review focuses on my Acer 17" TFT Monitor AL1711. I bought it as part of a computer package around 12 months ago - purchased seperately it will set you back around £325 incl VAT. My knowledge on computer components and accessories at that time was pretty basic to say the least, so I relied entirely on the expertise of a very capable sales assistant at a trusted, highly praised specialist shop on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. The basic package didn't include a flat screen monitor so I paid around £180 extra as I wanted to avoid the eyestrain and headaches so often experienced with conventional screens. The computer package was delivered a week later and despite my limited experience, I managed to follow the colour coded cable system and had everything ready to go in a couple of hours... ...Out of the box, plug it in, switch on pc, absolutely no adjustments required except changing your desktop resolution. Best and maximum resolution is 1280x1024. If you have an old computer or video card then upgrade to get the full potential from this monitor. The AL1913 has a great auto config feature which is useful if you start a game or a full screen application that changes your resolution. The auto config kicks in and gives you the optimum settings without you touching a button. I upgraded fom an equally brilliant and identical looking Acer 17" model which I only had for 5 weeks. OK so I'm an impulse buyer. The wife came in and said, That monitor looks bigger today, I said, that's weird it looked bigger when I got up this morning too. I can just about see one dead pixel with a totally black screen. Text is very sharp and defined... Read review

...but does tend to distort at the higher range. Another advantage to this TFT monitor is it will save you money as it reduces running cost with low power requirements and eliminated emissions. It also has an intergrated system to protect your eyes against strain. The user manual, although small was very well written, easy to understand. This TFT Acer AL1714ms monitor comes with all relative drivers (Compatible with all operating sytems). All in all this monitor is excellent value for money and I would have to recommend it, there might well be better TFT monitors about but I don't think you would be able to beat this for the same price....
