Reviews of acer aspire 1355lc - athlon xp-m 2600 2 ghz - 15" tft
Antonys Acer ex-Aspire-ation
Review of Acer Aspire 1355LC - Athlon XP-M 2600+ 2 GHz - 15" TFT by
anthmack
Advantages: Bright and clear screen, Spacious keyboard, which is fast and resposnsive, convenient and clear (sometimes drags on some laptops) mouse pad, Comes with Windows xp, Very fast with a 2.6GHZ Processor, and 512MB!! Of RAM, DVD Rom is better than my DVD Playe
Disadvantages: Delicate (but which laptops arent?), Quite heavy @ around 9 pounds (nearing a stone), Only comes in the same old same old colour of metallic grey
...to a maximum of 2048 MB of ram)
So, now imagine 512 MB. The only example I can give you, to show you how well it handles itself, is that, I had Adobe Photoshop 5.5. Running, 4 or 5 Netscape windows running, MSN messenger, my email in Internet explorer, and also trying to play a game with a my friend (age of empires 2) in a window. The laptop didn’t even moan, whinge, cry, pop up loads of warnings. Nothing. Just went on like a breeze.
This has also got to do partly with its Athlon XP-M 2.6Ghz in built processor, which is an absolute beast of a processor. A lot of people tend to shy away from Athlons, I even have in the past, but they really are just as good as P4, or any other processor on the market at the same speed.
* Ergonomics *
Well, it is a handsome looking thing, but at the end of the day, some people, like me, would prefer something...

Aspire 1315LM
Review of Acer Aspire 1315LM - Athlon XP-M 2500+ 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by
richdotward
Advantages: Large screen and fast chip
Disadvantages: Noisy and the case gets hot
...Brought an acer 1315LM last August for just over £850. Had to send it back for repairs after 11 months as it wouldn't turn on, acer returned it after 3 days stating nothing was wrong! It fixed itself in transit - never had a problem since?
The LCD screen is very bright and clear with no blurring, although from time to time it goes a bit darker, something to do with the battery saving I believe. Never tried the TV out as no wire is included but did attempt to use dual monitors with the laptop screen and standard monitor - couldn't get it to work.
No windows XP cd is provided, instead you have a XP restore disk made from norton ghost. The version I had was totally unstable and crashed every 30 minutes, only when I did a real format did the laptop become totally stable. Drivers are available on the acer website.
While it may...

ACER ASPIRE 1502LMI
Review of Acer Aspire 1502LMI - Athlon 64 3200+ 2 GHz - 15" TFT by
gregwych
Advantages: Looks, Memory, Big Hard drive, Price
Disadvantages: Weight, DVD RW speed
...Bought this laptop to replace my ACER Aspire 1315 and I was really impressed with the new modern design. Looks great.
The RAM is 512Mb and the hard drive is 60Gig. Mine was partitioned into two drives one is 45 gig the other is 15 gig. Both these are quite big for a laptop, especially a laptop for this price.
The battery life is good, i average about 2 hours but this obviously depends on whether i am playing games, burning discs or just on the net.
It has a 3 in one memory card reader, which reads SD and multimedia memory cards. I have used the multimedia card slot to put music onto my Nokia phone, and i must say it is very simple to use.
I also used the wireless LAN infered with my nokia phone and i found this to work well and very simple.
The four USB-2 ports is brilliant especially if you use lots of USB components as i do...

Acer has aced on this one!
Review of Acer Aspire L5100 - Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2 GHz - 19" TFT by
RoryGriffiths
Advantages: Everything you could want, particularly amazing multimedia handling.
Disadvantages: Gamers beware
...The Acer Aspire L5100 is an economical, yet complete package for the everyday home computer user.
Behind it's small, ultra-compact chassis lies a powerhouse in entertainment; the latest spec for modern home theatre, AMD LIVE!, boasts exceptional and smooth management of your multimedia, the main atrraction for me of this Acer product.
It exudes elegance and chicness in an understated manner; it measures 25cm by 20cm by 6cm and looks fantastic. It therefore feels and looks right at home in a minimalist, stress-free environment.
Due to its cheap price tag of roughly ~£330 one would expect corners to have been cut, but this is not the case.
It has an excellent dual-core AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ / 2.2 GHz processor, an adequate 500GB harddrive to store all your music, films, and videos on, 2GB of RAM, and all the other gimmicks one would...

Acer Aspired
Review of Acer Aspire 1524WLMi - Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
hairyheppers
Advantages: Fast CPU
Disadvantages: On current standards dated graphics.
...I bought one of these laptops, it must be nearly 3 years ago now, and in short i am very impressed with its performance and value.
I went for the best at the time, Athlon 64 3400+ if i remember correctly, 512MB RAM and 80GB hard drive.
Although the 64MB GeForce FX 5700 is not the fastest it does a reasonable job at most of the games i have thrown at it.
For example it will run Colin McRae Rally 4/Call of Duty 2 in 1024x768 on standard detail setting, smoothly.
The 80GB hard drive was top end when new, but is now starting to look inadequate compared to new models on the market, but it is easily upgradeable.
The 512MB RAM as standard consisted of 2 x 256MB sticks, i replaced one of these with a 1GB stick and it was well worth it.
After less than a year the graphics board went belly up and was quickly replaced under warranty. This has...

Heated Up?!!
Review of Acer Ferrari 3000LMi - Athlon XP-M 2500+ 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by
Deviant1
Advantages: High performance, good looks.
Disadvantages: Heats up very quickly.
...My uncle has bought this notebook recently and I am quite sure he is happy at his purchase. The Ferrari 3000 has a bright red lid, and sports the distinct yellow Ferrari logo on the bottom-right corner and a silver Acer logo embossed in the centre. The base and the inside panel are done in metallic silver, with another Ferrari logo on the bottom panel. The red and silver dual-tone finish makes it the most distinctive looking notebook you can lay your hands on. A red optical USB mouse also sporting a Ferrari logo, is bundled. The keyboard is recessed into the base, but is tactile and a breeze to use. The touchpad is very smooth and integrates a steel finished four-way scroll key. There are four launch keys that control the browser, the e-mail client and the other two are programmable. The Ferrari comes pre loaded with Windows XP Home Edition...

Acer is Ace
Review of Acer Aspire 3661WLMi - Celeron M 410 1.46 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
buckydaman
Advantages: Just like the make its Ace, good for first time laptop buyers
Disadvantages: for advanced users they will want just that much more
...Acer have come a long way and you can tell they have put so much effort in giving the comsumer great products. This is shown in their technology. The Acer Aspire 3661 wlmi is a great laptop for first time users and at a fantastic price is more than value for money.
I brought this computer for the wife who as little PC experience and wow how quickly she has progressed using this laptop. I have taken full advantage of the built in WIFI so the Aspire is taken everywhere around the household.
It runs at about 1.5ghz which sounds a little slow but dont let that fool you, built in PCI Express makes it run 4 times faster than traditonal PCI. The Acer Arcade (softwhere) multimedia suite is fun to use and very easy. it caters for all your needs like photo's and playing you dvds. So many more features but i will leave you all to experiance...

Disappointed...
Review of Acer Aspire 3614WLMi - Celeron M 380 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
bradders1011
Advantages: Inbuilt wireless LAN
Disadvantages: Inherent design problems, lack of tech support
...I bought my Acer because I'm an F1 fan, and they sponsor Ferrari. I guess I was conned by the marketing man!
For the first 6 or 7 months my Acer worked perfectly, it was fast and had no problems whatsoever. Then things started to go wrong.
1) The screen is weak, cracks began to appear at the bottom on both sides.
2) The CD drive pops out every few minutes for no reason. I have contacted Acer who acknowledged it was an inherent problem with the Aspire, yet there is no fix.
3) I have had to reset it twice, due to unexplained slowing up in the processor.
4) The standby sensor on the lid has stopped working altogether.
There were also some longstanding annoyances: Although there is a 'bluetooth' button on the front, this is not included in the package. Also, the tech support from Acer can only be described as awful. Every reply just...

Bad laptop or just unlucky
Review of Acer Aspire 1362WLC - Mobile Sempron 2800+ 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
susangoodfellow
Advantages: Large screen
Disadvantages: Dies regularly
...When I moved to a smaller house I decided to buy a laptop because there really was not room for my pc.
This seemed a good deal at the time, nearly 3 years ago. I paid a total of £600 including a 3 year guarantee.
Three years later it has failed four times, each time it was returned to Acer and took at least 2 weeks to be returned. They replaced the motherboard every time.
The last time was a month ago, it came back with the battery dead and a diagnostic cd left in the drive.
I have to say that when it was working it was fine and the large 15.4" screen is great.
Unfortunately my idea of using it as a replacement pc did not work out due to the impossibility of playing any game needing good graphics due to the integrated graphics chip.
The appearance is quite good (from a distance) and when I saw in on the net I thought it was metal...

The Acer labtop taking the market by storm
Review of Acer Aspire 5684WLMi - Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
nathnathnath
Advantages: Excellent Nividia graphics
Disadvantages: Very light, easily breakable
...This new labtop out by acer is excellent. It has state of the art gameplay with nividia graphics which make it excellent. Surprisingly it is the closest graphics have ever come to reality and i love it. It operates very fast making it one of the fastest computers i have ever expierienced.
It has an excellent installed dvd player which brings home the cinema expierience right into the palm of your hands. Its a widescreen labtop, therefore, providing a lot more space for the desktop. It also has the standard Windows XP compnents allowing you to have the microsoft expierience. It is very slimline indeed and can slip right into your bag, rucksack or briefcase. It is ideal for not only businessmen nut for school children and university students as well. The labtop comes with a load of space and very high ram. It also has a intel Core 2 dual...
