For the price.... Perfect. The acer Aspire 5738ZG
Advantages: ram, processor speed, design, screen, price
Disadvantages: none so far
...After giving up on my 2003 Packard Bell laptop, I decided to buy a new one. Now with 1000's of laptops available on the market. Where do you start? How do you decide which one is better than the other.
First look at your budget. I had up to £400 to play with. You can get a good Laptop for this price nowadays. Whats a good laptop?
I wanted something fast. Tired of wating yonks for web pages to load. Tired of crashing programs. So good RAM too.
For speed you need a good processor and RAM. With this computer I got both at a good price. 4 gb of RAM and a intel core duo 2 processor wont leave you stuck in mud.
I wanted a good quality screen too. It has a nice and bright 14.5 inch screen, It is glossy and slick. Very nice. You can watch movies on it no problem and video games too.
Mine came with 150gb of hard drive. Enough...

Acer Aspire Laptop
Advantages: Hi-Tech, Secure, Full HD, Powerful processor, Very good multimedia - gaming, film etc
Disadvantages: Heavy, Not for travelling long distances with
...This laptop is quite expensive so only invest in it if you seriously use a lot of power.
I think i spent £700 on it but it's worth it, I've had it a year and it's still top of it's range beating any commercial laptop.
WIth 4GB RAM, 380GB storage 2.0GHz processing power this laptop is good for it's time although with all this power it's quite a heavy thing so if your looking for portability I wouldn't recommend this one, I've had to leave it at my flat going home sometimes as it's just to heavy to carry and travel with it.
If it's sheer power your after then this is the one for you, It's good for gaming and making music, watching films etc with a HDMI output to link to the TV having dual monitors or just to use to watch a film on the big screen with full HD. The laptop monitor is Full HD widescreen with 5.1 surround built into it, but...

Acer Aspire One = Number 1!
Advantages: Small, light, comparativley powerful
Disadvantages: No external DVD drive provided. Protective sleeve
...I purchased this laptop for my wife to do do her training work on, also she didn't want to carry my luggable!
We went for the 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD Linux model in Blue for about £250.
Out of the box its a good looking machine, the glossy blue finish is nice, but instantly prone to fingerprint marks. It feels well built and durable.
I comes with what some would call a protective sleeve, in a way it does protect but really all it protects is from dirt, it wouldn't protect it from any knocks or drops.
The Linux Operating System is in my opinion VERY basic and highly kneecapped compared to what Linux can be, although there are guides on the internet to unlock more of its potential.
But having said that it is also very easy to use. Personally she tried it but didn't like it having be bought up on Micro$oft like most people, so i ended...

Acer Aspire 6920G - mid-range laptop of the year?
Advantages: Great Design, Powerful components, Blu-Ray, good value for money
Disadvantages: heavier than comparable notebooks, makes 15.4" screens look ugly
...After 3 weeks of owning the acer aspire 6920G i can safely say it is the best laptop i have ever used (or even see other people use), the elegant design, uniquely awesome 16" screen and the great price/performance ratio makes for one great laptop.
One of the first things you will notice when you first turn on the laptop is the 'Cinedash' media bar on the left of glossy keyboard. Essentially it is just a funkier version of the standard media hotkeys prevailent on all but the most budget of laptops, but it is a wonder to behold. If nothing else it just makes the whole of the laptop seem just that little bit more stylish, even if it does attract the attention of every friend/family/flatmate/spouse, meaning that for all the faffing with the touch pad volume slide, you can hardly get a chance to use the laptop yourself at first...

Be inspired by the Acer Aspire One A110
Advantages: Price, size, speed
Disadvantages: None so far
...gobsmacked but very happy indeed.
--Internet and Email--
The netbook uses the Firefox browser and as far as I can tell, it is exactly the same version you would expect to see on a normal desktop, laptop computer. With this in mind I wont go into too much detail here.
The email client is Acers own aspire mail. This behaves like any basic email client such as Outlook Express and again, was very easy to set up to connect to my ISP (Virgin) although you do need to know the names of the POP3 and SMTP servers beforehand.
For all you MSN addicts out there, the Aspire comes with its own version of messenger which is compatible with both Yahoo and MSN/Windows Live services. As the netbook comes with a built in webcam, you can use this with both services although I found it fiddly to get it to work with MSN as I had ticked a box to make use...

Acer Aspires To Be A Proper Laptop, And Nearly Pulls It Off
Advantages: Very portable, excellent keyboard. Battery life OK but not what is stated
Disadvantages: Slow to boot from 'cold'.
...I've been meaning to get a 'net-book' for some time now. Our current laptop just isn't small enough to justify taking it away on holiday with us, and with a growing number of holiday rentals, even those abroad, boasting wi-fi, now seemed the time to put the bulkier Dell Inspiron 1200 out to pasture. Many people might not want a computer whilst on holiday, welcoming the chance to get away from the bloody things, but not me. I tend to view a holiday as something that's dragging me away from my hobbies, but I'll freely admit it takes all kinds.
PALMTOP, NETBOOK, NOTEBOOK, LAPTOP?
As far as my scant research could tell, there's very little difference between a so-called 'net-book' and a laptop, except the size. In scaling them down, one or two things do however have to 'give'.
One is battery size, and therefore life, although this...

Aspiring to be inspiring! Is this another Ace Acer?
Advantages: SUPERB battery life, relatively portable and very slim.
Disadvantages: For basic and general business use, not games.
...Here we have a very mixed laptop in terms of its features and abilities.
Firstly, I want to make clear that the Acer Aspire 4810T is a laptop to consider for business use, or non-graphics-intensive applications such as Word, Excel and standard internet browsing.
If you are expecting to be able to play the latest video games and run graphics designer packages, then you'd be better off looking at other laptops with better stats than this one.
What it does have in its favour is an increased battery life of around 7 hours, possibly as much as 8 - and a very slim and portable design with a gorgeous 14" screen.
It is in a word SEXY!
Yes, I would consider dating this laptop.
If it were a person.
Which it isn't.
One can dream!
Um, I'm getting sidetracked.......
Hard drive
--------------
There is a very reasonable 250GB...

Acer Aspire 5542 Oh dear
Advantages: Great graphics, fast for browsing the net
Disadvantages: Battery life is useless
...Good laptop all in all , fantastic graphics though and extra fast for browsing, but, the battery life is hopeless, 1 to 1 and a half hours use after 24 hours of charging.
Very disappointed that we won't be able to use it on long journeys.
Also no manual, which is ok for people who know computers well and how to set them up. So we struggled a little on the main set up.
It's the first time ever we have had a product that hasn't come with an operating manual or a set up manual. Very disappointed.
Would I advise anyone to buy this product, probably not if they intend using it for taking on journeys or for work purposes.
It's good as a basic model if all you want to do is browse the web and save a few things like photos, but it's no good for gaming, or for holding too many big files....

Acer Aspire 6935G
Advantages: Great look, tv - tuner, great to use, competitive price.
Disadvantages: Off-centre keyboard, less than average battery life.
...I don?t know if you can be a fan of a computer company, but if you can, then I?m an Acer fan (and accidental poet). This laptop is a fine addition to an excellent range.
Look
Lightweight, futuristic, classy and sporting a few unique features, such as an interesting shaped space bar and, for seemingly no reason, an off-centre keyboard, this didn?t bother me that much, but it may be something to consider when buying it. The Acer Aspire 6935G definitely pulls off a look of its own. It is a reasonable size for a laptop and quite ergonomically designed.
Function
It comes with everything you?d expect from a laptop as well as an in-built TV tuner complete with attached remote control. The keyboard, despite being off-centre was well-built and features a standard QWERTY layout; it comes with a reasonably sized and sensitive...

Acer Aspire 5338 4GB Vista Laptop
Advantages: 4GB RAM, Dolby Home Theater, Great Price
Disadvantages: Integrated Graphics, Acer Customer Support is not known for being wonderful
...Despite having an Acer PC which runs forever and ever and is brilliant I had heard bad things about Acer laptops going badly wrong (blue screen of death) so was frantically trying to save for something else.
Someone intervened and got me an Acer laptop so I thought I would make the best of it.
Firstly, 4GB of ram means it runs like a rat out of a trap. It runs software my PC can't such as SAM Broadcaster - Which is notoriously difficult to run. I'm new to Vista, which presents challenges of its own but that is ok. The only downside to this laptop is it has integrated graphics - Being used to Nvidia GeForce I'm having to have trauma counselling but the graphics handles well and runs Second Life (the worst graphics heavy program I could think of to put it through its paces), but it does not meet their minimum system requirements (not...
