(For those who would like to instal Windows XP your warrant may fly through the window. I needed to get XP SATA drivers on floppy to install XP...and also changed the bios version (refer to instruction on acer website). Anyone purchasing it will notice that it has a blue tooth adapter sliding switch on the front face, only that I did not realise at first glance that there was actually no bluetooth adapter inside. One has to buy an external bluetooth adapter to use with this laptop...but the laptop has bluetooth capability...only no internal BT adapter. Overall perforemance: good... Read review

The extensa is a new model from acer and although they have been working on it for over a year now it wasn’t until a few months ago that these laptops went on sale. I still don’t think that it’s a brand of acer laptops that most people will be familiar with yet however I think it will grow and they will get better and more and more people will buy them just like what happened with the travel mate and the aspires. Its basically a follow up from the Acer aspire however the aspires were made mainly to keep at home and for a laptop to use around the house. Advantages: Good speed, good memory, very portable, great price.
Disadvantages: Processor could be better.

...This Acer Extensa 5220 laptop is ideal for anyone on a budget. However don't be fooled by the low price, this laptop still has power. The Intel Celeron processor is more than powerful enough for any home or student. Including a good sized memory (80GB), Windows Vista Home Basic and a DVD rewriter this laptop is excellent value for money. The 15'4 screen allows for excellent viewing for DVDs and gaming, but does not mean the laptop is heavy and could be easily portable to use all over home/school/college/university. Overall i believe this laptop is excellent value for students who are not looking to spend alot of money, but still want a good quality laptop which will allow them to complete most tasks.... ...this is acers new try at revamping their travelmate range, and their aspire range too. this travelmate, like the others is also designed for buisness people on the move. although this is the smallest and sleekist laptop from the acer line, this laptop still isnt as sleek and cool as some of the other new laptops out their on the market today. the TravelMate 6292 301 weighs 2kg with its 6-cell battery in place which i think you will agree is a really nice leight weight laptop, if your looking for somthing to take places alot. its actual footprint on a desk is only a little bigger than apeice of a4 paper, so this is really portable. this is basically the cheaper version of the the acer travelmate 6292 302. as its 1gb of ram less. acer has made a real effort to change the design and robustness of this product. acer claim... ...This is my favourite design so far by the acer travelmate brand. It looks a bit cooler and thinner than the other travelmates, which have previously looked a little bulky and boring. I think the main reason why it looks cooler is that its 2 different colours, black and silver, rather than being just black like the other ones. This features AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology TL-56 processor which runs the 2gb installed ram like a dream. Another great thing about this laptop is that the ram can be upgraded to 4gb, this isn't cheap however and could cost over £100 to upgrade it to 4gb of ram, however this would make the laptop run so much faster so if you do need a really fast laptop then this is possibly something you might think about when buying it. ...I bought this Acer laptop from Comet in Perth. It was exactly what I was looking for at the time, a cheap laptop that I could use between my home and my girlfriend's in Dundee. I have had one or two problems with it, but Acer have a good support service that has sorted these out fairly quickly. The first problem was the battery charger stopped recharging the battery. According to Acer this is a common problem and they sent a new box out and that sorted the problem out once it arrived a few days later and I started using the new charger. The second problem also involved the battery charging and initially I was all set to cause havoc and get my money back. However, Acer asked if I would send the laptop back and arranged to get it collected from my house. I did have to pack the laptop up and make sure it wouldn't be damaged intransit... Read review
