...Acer notebooks are really famous in all the world, mostly because of their notebooks price and reliability. I have used many series of Acer notebooks and all the time, when I use some Acer notebook, I't pretty amazed. All the time I think, how Acer can make so good and powerful notebooks, but seriously, I don't understand. my perfect machine is ACEr!!!

I purchased the laptop as my third laptop after two very unsuccessful Gateway Laptops earlier in 2007. Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269. The Operating System First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. Advantages: Robust, decent enough basic function
Disadvantages: Not much software, runs slow, pointless hard drive partition

...I last reviewed a budget laptop at the tail end of 2000. It had cost me £1,000 and I didn't like it much. Now I'm typing this review on an exponentially faster laptop with more than 40 times the hard disk space, and it was a quarter of the price. Truly, we are living in the future. I still don't like it much. Extensa 5220 I bought this machine so I could work on novels and short stories without leaving my bed. I really am that lazy and I make no apology for it. Acer Laptop, power not to the top.

Advantages: It's snazzy, looks professional and does the job.
Disadvantages: it doesn't have a webcam, it's slow and the wi-fi is overactive.
