Acer Extensa 4220
Advantages: read review
Disadvantages: read review
...Acer notebooks are really famous in all the world, mostly because of their notebooks price and reliability. I have used many series of Acer notebooks and all the time, when I use some Acer notebook, I't pretty amazed. All the time I think, how Acer can make so good and powerful notebooks, but seriously, I don't understand.
I used Acer Extensa 4220 about 4 months ago first time, after that, my friend got it for his birthday. I was really amazed, because of this notebook outlook and weight. It's really portable, and really lightweight, so you can bring it with your, where every you want.

Acer Extensa 5620-1A2G12Mi
Advantages: great spec, better price.
Disadvantages: could look a little better
...laptop for whatever you want to use it for.
This one looks a bit different from previous acer laptops and also some other acer extensas, I think the reason for this is that it’s a bit more portable than the other ones so perhaps that’s why they have changed the design for it so you can tell it’s a portable one.
It looks kind of rounded and the base going in at the sides makes it appear really thin and sleek.
It is just one colour though, black which makes it appear a bit dull but it doesn’t look terrible and actually looks kind of modern.
The main reason why this is so fast is its very large amount of ram built into it. This laptop has 2 gb of ram which handles loading up and the running of all those demanding programs you might need to use when on the move.
The great thing about this laptop is that over time...

Acer Extensa 5210 notebook
Advantages: No inbuilt bluetooth adapter

...Acer Extensa 5210, DDR2 512MB, 80GB HHD, 1.6ghz Celeron processor, WLAN, DVD writer:
My laptop came with a Windows Vista basic installation. (For those who would like to instal Windows XP your warrant may fly through the window. I needed to get XP SATA drivers on floppy to install XP...and also changed the bios version (refer to instruction on acer website).
Anyone purchasing it will notice that it has a blue tooth adapter sliding switch on the front face, only that I did not realise at first glance that there was actually no bluetooth adapter inside. One has to buy an external bluetooth adapter to use with this laptop...but the laptop has bluetooth capability...only no internal BT adapter.
Overall perforemance: good...

Acer Aspire 5738G-644G50MN
Advantages: Bright screen,Huge memory
Disadvantages: Odd Glossy finish, annoying mouse button
...A bright 15.4 inch screen, huge hard disk, and seemingly unlimited levels of memory make this a great home laptop, this to me seems where it is best suited rather than as a business notebook. Its reasonable if not good price make this centrino laptop a very good choice.
- Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit, Sp1)
- Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 15.4? HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD
- 4GB DDR3 Memory
- 1244 MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
- 250 GB Hard Drive
- DVD SuperMultiDl with BluRay disc drive
- 0.3 megapixel integrated webcam
- Purchased from PC World £450
Build:
While i wouldn't say its likely to fall apart, this laptop isn't one i would fancy dropping down the stairs. After days the incredibly glossy rear screen was scratched and lead me to buying...

brand new range from acer
Advantages: lots of uses
Disadvantages: design hasnt changed much
...made or that but also incorporate the design specification of the older travel mate models so that they are also quite portable so really it gives you the opportunity to use your laptop for whatever you want to use it for.
It terms of looks then a lot really hasn’t changed and I think that it could have looked a lot better. Its all one colour which is black and just looks a little dull and boring in my opinion.
Also the design is just like some of the older travel mates and some of the acer aspires so I would have liked to see a new style of laptop born for there new extensa range.
It also has a quite ordinary amount of ram at only 1gb which makes the laptop run quite fast however when trying to run games this laptop was just useless on most of them and it even didn’t run videos off the internet that well either.
So most...

Acer plays the Ace card again!
Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.
...I have revised my review after using the netbook for a while.
I purchased the Acer A150 because I was going on a cruise and wanted something small and light. I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269.
The Operating System
First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. I gave up and Installed Xp pro. If you are purchasing a Netbook with Linux and all you want to do is surf the net...

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: could be quicker
...use your laptop for whatever you want to use it for.

It looks kind of rounded and the base going in at the sides makes it appear really thin and sleek.
It is just one colour though, black which makes it appear a bit dull but it doesn’t look terrible and actually looks kind of modern.
It only has a basic 1gb of ram installed however it is just a basic laptop and with a cheap price so you cant really expect that much out of it. It can handle a maximum of 2gb though so you could easily buy another 1gb of ram for under £20 and just easily install it...

Hot, black and in my lap.
Advantages: Robust, decent enough basic function
Disadvantages: Not much software, runs slow, pointless hard drive partition
...I last reviewed a budget laptop at the tail end of 2000. It had cost me £1,000 and I didn't like it much.
Now I'm typing this review on an exponentially faster laptop with more than 40 times the hard disk space, and it was a quarter of the price. Truly, we are living in the future.
I still don't like it much.
Extensa 5220
I bought this machine so I could work on novels and short stories without leaving my bed. I really am that lazy and I make no apology for it.
To look at, it's a totally standard laptop, the screen folds down over the keyboard with a single catch at the front. There's one of those trackpad things which people seem to hate so much, but I've never had a problem with them at all. There are a few variations of this model, and some have a built-in webcam. Mine is probably the last laptop ever built that...

Acer Aspire One = Number 1!
Advantages: Small, light, comparativley powerful
Disadvantages: No external DVD drive provided. Protective sleeve
...I purchased this laptop for my wife to do do her training work on, also she didn't want to carry my luggable!
We went for the 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD Linux model in Blue for about £250.
Out of the box its a good looking machine, the glossy blue finish is nice, but instantly prone to fingerprint marks. It feels well built and durable.
I comes with what some would call a protective sleeve, in a way it does protect but really all it protects is from dirt, it wouldn't protect it from any knocks or drops.
The Linux Operating System is in my opinion VERY basic and highly kneecapped compared to what Linux can be, although there are guides on the internet to unlock more of its potential.
But having said that it is also very easy to use. Personally she tried it but didn't like it having be bought up on Micro$oft like most people, so i ended...

Acer
Advantages: Good all round multimedia laptop
Disadvantages: Bulky, low battery life.
...Acer is a major world leader in IT solutions and are now the third largest manufacturer of laptops worldwide. It's a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.
