Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

...I have revised my review after using the netbook for a while. I purchased the Acer A150 because I was going on a cruise and wanted something small and light. I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269. The Operating System First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. Aspiring to be inspiring! Is this another Ace Acer?

Advantages: SUPERB battery life, relatively portable and very slim.
Disadvantages: For basic and general business use, not games.

Firstly, I want to make clear that the Acer Aspire 4810T is a laptop to consider for business use, or non-graphics-intensive applications such as Word, Excel and standard internet browsing. If you are expecting to be able to play the latest video games and run graphics designer packages, then you'd be better off looking at other laptops with better stats than this one. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. I picked out this model as after trying other ones that were available including the more expensive sony viao i decided that by buying the viao i wouldnt be gaining anything just wasting money on a fashion accesory. ...I bought this laptop about a month ago. So far it has served me very well. It's not the most portable laptop ever made but it's is unique in design and has a cream interior which is a great contrast to it's glossy shiny black cover (although the cover does get annoying smudged very easily). I also love the Webcam in the lid which is perfect for video chatting, although i was disappointed that it cannot be swivled around like it can be on other acer models. You can read about the advantages of this laptop all over the net and i would agree - it is a fast capable laptop. However there are some negatives, namely: 1. if you close the lid or leave it in hibernation for too long with the lid closed, it makes an incredibly annoying high pitched continuous beep until you raise the lid. ..., not like some keyboards which seem to be squashed together so much it's hard to type. The Keyboard itself is black set on a silver background. The Touchpad which acts like a computer's mouse is touch sensitive and I found this very easy to get the hang of (something I was a bit concerned about with a laptop). There is plenty of room for your wrists to rest as well, so typing etc is very comfortable. Below the Touchpad you have a left and right click button (as you would on a mouse) and a four way direction button in the centre for scrolling. There is an internal microphone located to the right of the palm rest which is for sound recording. To the right of the keypad there is a TV/Media/Volume buttons, these are for use when using media programs or for playing acer arcade games. The main powers button is located here...
