Acer doesn't live up to the proud Ferrari name

Advantages: Looks good, lots of connectivity options
Disadvantages: Slow, short battery life, Athlon CPU

...I first saw this laptop in a PC magazine last year. It may have not been this exact model, but the radical Ferrari styling caught my eye and intrigued me. A couple of months ago a friend of mine, upset at the fact that he couldn?t afford a real Ferrari decided to settle down with a consolation purchase and get this Ferrari styled laptop ? the Acer 3200. Sadly, unlike it motor counterpart, this laptop feels more like a Vauxnall Nova stuck in a Ferrari?s body. Design Design is this laptop?s strongest feature. It?s bright red exterior stands out and looks shiny and smooth, thanks to a scratch-resistant coating. The inside of the case is made from something known as silver-magniesium alloy, which not only sounds cool but is also quite strong (like Wolverine?s claws I?m guessing). Ferrari, Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Advantages: Looks good, functions brilliantly, v.v.v.v.loud speakers :-)
Disadvantages: Gets very very hot, poor cooling and air flow, bit dated technologically :-(

...I bought mine on ebay for £360, I needed it for university study and it's working really well for small documents like word and excel and it will also play some games well, mainly Unreal Tournament online :-) The disk space of 60GB is plenty for me. The main reason I bought it was because a friend of mine had bought a new Acer computer and when we wanted to watch videos or listen to music the sound on it was like a whisper even at full volumn, the Ferrari however is really really loud!!! For its age I think it is really good, it looks good and the keyboard and pad are easy and comfortable to use, but as the other reviewer said it does heat up a lot, and the fan is on full power most of the time, I am going to hopefully solve this problem by buying a cooling pad to fit underneath it with extra fans hopefully it will run a lot...

Is the Acer an ace?

Advantages: Looks great. Gorgeous screen.
Disadvantages: Not very upgradeable. Bluetooth mouse unreliable.

...I bought my Acer Ferrari laptop in October 2005 - plenty of time to have forged a decent opinion of it. My ratings are based on my opinion of the machine NOW, compared to the speed and performance of contemporary computers. I wanted something that had enough power to play games and do anything else I wanted. When bought, I had intended it to be capable of becoming a desktop replacement - that didn't happen, as, being a bit of a hardware junkie, the desktop machine has continued to get more and more powerful. Anyway...back to the Acer. I was so excited when it arrived. You see, since getting my first 8-bit computer in 1983, I've never actually had a brand new, complete computer. I've either got hold of second hand PCs, or I've built my own desktop machine from scratch - I prefer it that way. That's obviously not feasible...

Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

...I have revised my review after using the netbook for a while. I purchased the Acer A150 because I was going on a cruise and wanted something small and light. I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269. The Operating System First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. I gave up and Installed Xp pro. If you are purchasing a Netbook with Linux and all you want to do is surf the net...

Well thought out racing game for DS - Ferrari Challenge

There are similar titles released for other consoles such as the Playstation 3, but this is a separately written game and has lots of good things about it. In terms of the game play, getting into the game is quite easy as the controls are easy to master. Both text appears on the screen and there are audio clips to help you learn what the best racing line is and how to approach some of the corners. When playing you can get extra points for keeping the right driving line, taking corners effectively and also for smooth overtaking. Ferrari WIN Championship title in Malaysia

Aspiring to be inspiring! Is this another Ace Acer?

Advantages: SUPERB battery life, relatively portable and very slim.
Disadvantages: For basic and general business use, not games.

...Here we have a very mixed laptop in terms of its features and abilities. Firstly, I want to make clear that the Acer Aspire 4810T is a laptop to consider for business use, or non-graphics-intensive applications such as Word, Excel and standard internet browsing. If you are expecting to be able to play the latest video games and run graphics designer packages, then you'd be better off looking at other laptops with better stats than this one. What it does have in its favour is an increased battery life of around 7 hours, possibly as much as 8 - and a very slim and portable design with a gorgeous 14" screen. It is in a word SEXY!
