Acer doesn't live up to the proud Ferrari name
Review of Acer Ferrari 3200 by  Vicster1784

Advantages: Looks good, lots of connectivity options
Disadvantages: Slow, short battery life, Athlon CPU

... This laptop only comes in one configuration, unlike Dell for example, who let you customize your laptop. The 3200 runs an Athlon 64 2800+ processor (wouldn’t it make more sense to put a 3200+ in there, considering the name and all?) and boasts 512MB of RAM, 128MB ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 and a generous 80GB of hard drive space. Connectivity is quite extensive, with Wifi, Bluetooth and IrDa. The DVD-RW supports both DVD-R and DVD+R and burns DVDs quite fast. The software package is pretty standard as the laptop come with Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Works and Softlink’s PowerDVD. That shouldn’t be an issue as any seasoned PC user will have copies of their favourite software already, but might be an issue for newbies. Overall Performance should have been a given, considering the laptop’s name and impressive specs. For some reason however it... Read review

Review Of Acer Laptop model 1362LC
Review of Acer Aspire 1362LC - Mobile Sempron 2800+ 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT by  csujamie

Advantages: Cheap As Chips and Powerful Enough Desktop Replacement
Disadvantages: No DVDRW if that affects you

...Hello There! Thinking of buying this Laptop? Then read on and let me tell you a quick bit about it! Having previously owned a doomed Tiny A360 laptop (big mistake) I sold it for spares, and funded my purchase of a new Laptop. I opted for this unit, purchased from ebuyer at the bargain price of £470 (inc VAT) Quick Rundown of the laptop The Acer Aspire 1362LC is the budget end of the Aspire range. Powered by a Mobile AMD Sempron 2800+ chip, the CPU provides a well struck balance between power and battery life. The unit comes as standard with 256MB RAM of the DDR variety. Upgradibility of the RAM is effortless as one screw removed from the access panel allows you access to the spare slot available. The laptop is equipped with a XGA 15"TFT which is bright and clear, with no dark spots anywhere. Also it has several contrast... Read review

Advantages: Large screen, easy to use, strong processing power
Disadvantages: heavy and bulky

...I have just recently recieved this laptop as a replacement for a stolen one. As my technical knowledge of laptops is not great, I want to focus this review around the more "user friendly" aspects of this machine. But just for completion I have included the specs below for you, make the most out of them if you so wish. Model ID: LX.ABH05.086 Acer Aspire 5102WLMi - Turion 64 mobile technology TL-50 1.6 GHz - RAM : 1 GB - HD : 80 GB - DVD±RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM - 802.11b/g - Win XP Home - 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) The laptop itself is fairly simple and easy to use from the offfset. There is a variety of software pre-installed onto it including virus scanner, wireless internet, MSN messenger and a DVD viewing programme. Overall it is very easy to get up and running with all the basic functions with minimal... Read review

Acer Aspire 3022WLMi
Review of Acer Aspire 3022WLMi - Mobile Sempron 2800+ 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by  nobodyshere

Advantages: Good value, reasonably powerful, lightweight and compact
Disadvantages: Battery life a tad short

...and bright - the only downside to this is that this makes the screen a little reflective, something that can be a real pain when using the laptop in the summer. In terms of specs, the Aspire 3022WLMi is simply excellent for its price. It has a Mobile AMD Sempron 2800 processor as well as 512MB of RAM, and it also includes a very game friendly ATi X600 graphics card, which is far superior to the awful integrated graphics cards that are usually found on laptops of this price range. Thus far the laptop has coped with everything I've thrown at it, from basic tasks such as typing and surfing the internet, right down to more strenuous tasks like running complex games. I was a little disappointed with the laptop's battery power, as I found it to be far shorter than it was claimed to be by Acer. Realistically, I can usually expect to get about... Read review

Acer Aspire 1682WLMi
Review of Acer Aspire 1682WLMi - Pentium M 725 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by  ilusvm

Advantages: light weight, stylish, bargain price, nice features, wide screen, fast
Disadvantages: pressing the function button to adjust the volume or brightness

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Acer Aspire 1682WLMi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About four months before I was due to go to University I started looking for a laptop that would be suitable for me to take with me. I wanted a laptop that wasn't too expensive, was light, fast and reliable. After a few days of searching both in shops and online I found the Acer Aspire 1682WLMi at a very reasonable price on Amazon. It was priced at just over £700 and appeared to be a decent laptop. I ordered the laptop and it arrived just a week later. The laptop has the following features: Intel Pentium M 725 processor (1.6GHz, 400 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache) - this basically means that has mid range performance in terms of speed of processing and is ideal for the type of things I would use it for such as university work etc. 15.4" WXGA wide TFT LCD... ...**EDIT** There has been a recent price drop in this laptop, meaning that the spec that you are mainly reading about in this diamond rated review is now available for prices in the 850-899 range, and for the price I paid, £994, you can now get the 1.6Ghz 80GB version, thanks and enjoy the review! **END OF EDIT** The Acer Travelmate 3201Xci, part of the 3200 series is simply amazing! It is jam packed with features, and is absolutely tiny! And in a very good way! For all the brilliant details read on in my review! Speed Did you see that? Obviously not, it was light, and that is the kind of speed that this laptop can do! It has an Intel Pentium M Centrino processor at a running speed of 1.5Ghz, “Small!” I hear you say, oh no! This is amazingly fast, thanks to its 2mb of on level DIE cache, (don’t worry about what... Read review

Is the Acer an ace?
Review of Acer Ferrari 4005WLMi - Turion 64 mobile technology ML-37 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by  sexyjw

Advantages: Looks great. Gorgeous screen.
Disadvantages: Not very upgradeable. Bluetooth mouse unreliable.

...with laptops though, so I had to buy the finished item. My main requirements at the time were: - 64-bit processor; AMD were, in my opinion, king of home CPUs at the time, so I wanted a proper mobile chip - the Turion seemed the way to go. - dedicated graphics memory; nothing too huge - just something that would be able to play most games of the time comfortably. - 1GB RAM - as much hard disk as possible. - wireless networking built in. After much searching, I finally plumped for this machine. I had a personal recommendation from a friend at work as to the standard of these machines, and so I decided that as long as I paid by credit card, I didn't have much to lose. Only two things have ever physically gone wrong with this machine. One was the bluetooth mouse, which although it came with it, is really a peripheral, and therefore... Read review

Advantages: Excellent Value and Great Features
Disadvantages: None Really - But Batteries not brilliant

.... There are two stero speakers on this front, and you can control the volume using short cut keys on the key board or by clicking on Volume control once logged in. Watching a DVD or TV gives pretty decent sound, especially considering it's a laptop and i don't know much about sound quality on Laptops as i've only used 2 (this being my 2nd!). ::::SPECIFICATIONS AND VALUE:::: The Price for this excellent laptop was just £365, including delivery, from EmpireDirect.co.uk. The Specifications are as follows: *AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technolgy MK-36 (2.9GHz, 512KB L2 Cache) *15.4" WXGA Acer Crystalbrite LCD (16ms) *Upto 256MB ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 *120GB HDD *DVD-Super Multi double layer (support DVD+R Double Layer/DVD+RW) *1GB DDR2 *802.11b/g wireless LAN The battery life only lasts around 2 hours depanding on what your doing. HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Review of HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by  sunderlandcomputers

Advantages: Cost, Reliability, Battery Life, WIFI Range
Disadvantages: Display not best, memory - not enough

...So what's it got and is it worth it. My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista. The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home. Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting. The screen is 15.4 inches with WXGA Brightview technology. There is a wired network adaptor as well as a wireless connection via a Broadcom 802.11 b/g, allowing... Read review
