Acer Aspire 5738G-644G50MN
Advantages: Bright screen,Huge memory
Disadvantages: Odd Glossy finish, annoying mouse button
...A bright 15.4 inch screen, huge hard disk, and seemingly unlimited levels of memory make this a great home laptop, this to me seems where it is best suited rather than as a business notebook. Its reasonable if not good price make this centrino laptop a very good choice.
- Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit, Sp1)
- Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 15.4? HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD
- 4GB DDR3 Memory
- 1244 MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
- 250 GB Hard Drive
- DVD SuperMultiDl with BluRay disc drive
- 0.3 megapixel integrated webcam
- Purchased from PC World £450
Build:
While i wouldn't say its likely to fall apart, this laptop isn't one i would fancy dropping down the stairs. After days the incredibly glossy rear screen was scratched and lead me to buying...

For the price.... Perfect. The acer Aspire 5738ZG
Advantages: ram, processor speed, design, screen, price
Disadvantages: none so far
...After giving up on my 2003 Packard Bell laptop, I decided to buy a new one. Now with 1000's of laptops available on the market. Where do you start? How do you decide which one is better than the other.
First look at your budget. I had up to £400 to play with. You can get a good Laptop for this price nowadays. Whats a good laptop?
I wanted something fast. Tired of wating yonks for web pages to load. Tired of crashing programs. So good RAM too.
For speed you need a good processor and RAM. With this computer I got both at a good price. 4 gb of RAM and a intel core duo 2 processor wont leave you stuck in mud.
I wanted a good quality screen too. It has a nice and bright 14.5 inch screen, It is glossy and slick. Very nice. You can watch movies on it no problem and video games too.
Mine came with 150gb of hard drive. Enough...

Acer plays the Ace card again!
Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.
..., eject the tray and insert the disc. Press the power button on the computer and wait for the message, "Press any key to boot from CD...." and press any key. First of all your computer will be inspected to see if its capable of handling XP then installation will begin. All you need to do is follow any prompts on the screen and installation should be complete in around 40 min. If you're not confident then get someone to help but watch them doing it so you can learn.
Once finished you will not be able to access the internet using the wireless connection because you will need the appropriate driver. Connect an Ethernet cable and go directly to the Acer website and search for the A150 and download the XP drivers. Please be sure to install your virus checker as soon as possible. Once all drivers are installed, continue to install everything you...

Acer Aspire X3200, the Office Media PC
Advantages: Tri - Core, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, HDMI Port, eSATA port, Media Card Readre and 9 USB Ports
Disadvantages: Not a lot of room in the case, and not the greatist HTPC
...Right off I would like to say that the Acer Aspire X3200 is a great little HTPS (Home Theatre PC) and very good value for money. Now for the techno ? babble:
The Acer Aspire X3200 is powered by a Tri ? Core processer, instead of the Dual ? Core processers found in the earlier and most there HTPC?s in this price range. It is considerably smaller and has a very basic design. Far from making it dull and not very interesting, this feature allows it too suitably blend with most environments, sitting comfortably next to your DVD player and stereo right there in your living room. It also has a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port which allows you to connect directly into your HDTV (High Definition TV).This appears to be an added extra which is absent in the other HTPC?s of its range, as has the eSATA port. This port allows you to...

Acer
Advantages: Good all round multimedia laptop
Disadvantages: Bulky, low battery life.
...Acer is a major world leader in IT solutions and are now the third largest manufacturer of laptops worldwide. It's a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.

Acer
Advantages: Good Value Product
Disadvantages: None
...Acer is one of the world leaders in IT systems. This is a good quality laptop that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.
I've seen it for £530 (inc vat) from PC World although you...

Strange kettle of fish but an ideal second PC
Advantages: Minute, basic PC functionallity
Disadvantages: Limited performance especially in BBC iPlayer
...The Acer Revo R3600 is a slightly odd kettle of fish and in some ways is a solution looking for a problem!
The original desktop PC configuration; Base unit, wired keyboard and mouse, and a monitor hasn?t changed much in 25 years ? unless you count putting the base unit on it?s side!
A number of notable exceptions have been to create the ?all in one PC? which unite the processor and display ? most notably the original iMac in the 1990s ? Sony dabbled with the idea of an entertainment center (sic) ? one of which I use as my main PC, but it still relied upon the idea of a separate unit for doing essentially ?PC? stuff, largely unrelated to any other kit you may already have.
Acer have responded to this by taking a sideways look and coming up with the ?nettop? PC.
In terms of hardware, it owes rather more to the currently very...

acer 9301
Advantages: Built in camera and wifi enabled
Disadvantages: Not the lightest laptop available
...I recently purchased the acer aspire 9301 and so far i have been very impressed with my shiny new gadget. I picked out this model as after trying other ones that were available including the more expensive sony viao i decided that by buying the viao i wouldnt be gaining anything just wasting money on a fashion accesory. The Acer offers everything that you could possibly want and more and comes with a much more modest price tag.
BASIC DESCRIPTION
The 9301 certainly looks the part with its sleek silver and black exterior shell, 17 inch crysral brite tft display screen and a fabulous built in camera which swivels 225 degrees which allows the user to photograph themselves or someone sitting oposite them and can be used both for still shots and as a webcam. These features are enchanced greatly by the computers huge 120 gb hard drive...

Acer Travelmate 290 Laptop Computer
Advantages: Lightweight, robust, quick
Disadvantages: Battery life could be better, hard to get hold of
...Acer Travelmate 290LCi
I am using this laptop currently, right now I am even typing on it I have been using this laptop for around 6 months after it was bought for my by my boyfriend who bough it off his dad for just £50 it originally started life in a school as one of their many laptops and when they updated them they were just dis-guarded. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it when I bought it and it was all wiped clean and ready to use by the time I got it.
It came with Windows XP Professional already installed which is the standard operating system for this brand of laptop.
Since owning this laptop it has been brilliant I had not had a laptop before this and found it great for lying in bed till late on a night on the internet, it is only very light weighing around just 2.8kg so not very heavy at all. It has a 15" screen...

Be inspired by the Acer Aspire One A110
Advantages: Price, size, speed
Disadvantages: None so far
...--Background--
My wife has always moaned that she could never get onto the family PC as it was always being used by either my kids or myself. After doing a bit of research, she convinced me to buy her the Acer Aspire One netbook which she would use for web browsing and writing simple documents. I was a bit sceptical of the device, after all, to me it was just a cheap laptop. But, alas, she won and off I went to Currys armed with my credit card to begrudingly buy her one.
--In the box--
The box in which the Aspire comes is very small. You'd be able to fit it under your arm and carry it no problem. As well as the netbook, there was a mains battery charger, a user manual and a recovery cd which I thought was strange considering there isnt a cd driver in the netbook!!
--Initial Setup--
I must admit I found this impressive...
