acer travelmate 5720

Advantages: portable
Disadvantages: could have more memory

...This laptop is another one from the acer travelmate range . Acer as a laptop company are beginig to grow, and they are now just as well know as a lot of others, but then I first saw then in shops, my first impression, and the impression of others I asked was they seemed a bit of a cheap brand, just like netto is compared to Sainsbury's. however acer have somehow seemed to change peoples minds and even managed to change my mind somehow. If you want something sturdy, with a solid specification and in a mid price range of around £500, yet you could get one a lot cheaper now on eBay. Then this laptop could be for you. Its Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor runs at 2GHz which is pretty good, and its has 1 gb of ram too. This makes it a lot faster than a lot of other laptops with only 1 gb of ram though because its processor is so quick...

great acer laptop

Advantages: great battery life
Disadvantages: not so good at games

...proably never need to buy an external hard drive, however if you do it could be easily connected via one of the 3 usb ports built into the laptop. this laptop also has a 5 in 1 card reader which can read any of, SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card which is handy for transferring pictures from you camer to your laptop. this acer has a 15.4\" TFT active matrix which makes the screen look brighter and imadges look sharper. this is also a very portable laptop and has a great battery life of 4 hours, i therefore advise this to anyone who wants somthing quick with good memory and if you need somthing portable then this is definatly for you. however if you like movies and games then simply dont get this, on games its a bit sluggish and if your looking for a media laptop then get a entertainment...

This mate doesn't travel well

Advantages: Lots of features for the price
Disadvantages: Bulky, and a short battery life

...> Introduction < Buying a budget laptop seems to be a becoming more and more popular. The quality keeps rising. Acer has shown this with its latest TravelMate laptop. I needed it for general work, which seemed ideal. > What's it got? < The 5720G model has a dark grey exterior and easy to access control. At the heart is an Intel 2GHz T7300 Core 2 Duo processor (very fast for a laptop), though I feel this is simply to make Windows Vista work on it at an acceptable performance (it comes installed with Vista Home Premium). It also comes installed with a decent 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM, this should be enough to run Vista smoothly for some time to come, even if you like to run all of your applications at the same time! Hard disk space is generous too. Its nominal 160GB capacity is enough to leave more than 125GB free for your own...

My Mate just doesn't Travel well...

Advantages: Well-rounded laptop with very good functionality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not future-proof, but what is?!

...When looking for a relatively cheap but well-designed laptop, acer's travelmate series were a particular interest. Suitably powerful for multimedia applications, and generally well-equipped, with an integrated webcam, microphone and a separate graphics card. This does call on the system memory, however, and typically running windows vista will result in the system using almost half its RAM just idling... However, having purchased a similar travelmate, it must be said that whilst robust and quite easily transported, the battery life in 'high performance' mode is short and the other power modes are less useful. I have experienced issues from new with the battery connection, and the seller - Kikatek, were very unhelpful. As well as not having a phone line at all - communication must take place by email - they were very unwilling...

Acer Aspire 5720WLMi

Advantages: extra features, price
Disadvantages: a bit basic

...This acer aspire carries acers so called gemstone design. This is a new design of laptop from acer and is being used in more and more of their laptops because of its popularity with customers. It does have split opinions however, some love it and some people really cant stand the look of it. I however think its great, its black and cream colour, with a lovely glossy lid looks cool and very neat and tidy. Also what I like about this Is its clearly a design that acer has come up with and kept, and it clearly represents their company. a lot of laptops from other manufacturers just look the same as others and you cant tell what brand they are, this however, much like the look of apples imacs you can tell they belong to which company. The laptop is of an average size, its 36.6 cm wide, 27.4 cm in length and is 4.3 cm in height. So its not...

good, but good enough?

Advantages: its got good features
Disadvantages: alot of design flaws

...travel mates are a type of laptop designed and made under the name of the computing brand acer. They are, for all of you who do not know, specifically designed for the working people, people who need something portable, or to use for their business. Now the design of this laptop is by no means stylish, in fact it’s the complete opposite. Its all in one colour, which I really dislike about laptops, it looks bulky and it just looks too dull and boring. This could have been made to look better by rounding off the squared corners and having a bit of colour change in their instead of the whole thing being black and boring. This isn't the fastest laptop, but its probably the average speed most people need for doing work on. It features a Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 / 1.8 Ghz processor which runs the 1gb of installed ram pretty fast...

Acer TravelMate 4150

Advantages: Light, good specs and value for money
Disadvantages: keyboard flimsy and the charger messed up within a year

...Excellent specifications for the price, compared to brands such as dell and sony. The Dvd burner runs a lot slower than the given speed. The wireless connection is excellent. The laptop gets regualar use by me and my kids, who can be quite heavy handed with the keyboard. three of the keys have fallen out. Support at Acer couldn't be bothered to reply to my e-mails regarding replacement keyboard. Acers website is annoyingly slow at times, i did manage to find all the necessary drivers when i had to reinstall windows. Don't try to install or even run live linux cd's as it will not for some reason recognise the Dvd/cd combi and therefore not run. The screen is also excellent. It gives a clear and crisp image. Battery life is also poor, i have found that it will not last longer than 3 hours while doing word processing...

Acer TravelMate 3222WXMi; the Lay Person's Guide

Advantages: Easy to use, does what it says on the tin
Disadvantages: Keyboard design is awkward for some

...husband thinks it's good because he knows what all the technical jargon in the specification means! *UPDATE - October 2006* It has now developed a fault, and as I write this I'm waiting for a courier to collect it for repair. I will further update when I know the outcome. The customer support so far has been pretty good; I only called them yesterday and they're having it collected today, but that is the company it was bought from and not Acer themselves. *FURTHER UPDATE - October 2006* It turned out that the power pack was faulty, which was causing the machine to do strange things! It was replaced no problem and I had my computer back within the week....

Acer Travelmate 7730 Laptop

Advantages: Big Screen, Good Looks, Nice To Use
Disadvantages: Heavy

...As I do quite a lot of travelling with my job, I decided it was about time I invested in a laptop. My desktop at home is an Acer Aspire and it was very affordable when I bought it in comparison to some other makes, having had it a good few months now and experienced no problems with it, I decided the new laptop would also be an Acer. My budget was around £650 when I started looking about 2 months ago, and I found the Acer Travelmate in my local PC World just about on budget. It ticked all the boxes, as my new laptop would be being carried around in the boot of my car most of the time and the only real carrying of it I would have to do would be into a hotel room really, size and weight did not really matter to me. In fact quite the opposite really as I decided I would like a decent sized screen and a full size keyboard as then once I...
