Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

...I have revised my review after using the netbook for a while. I purchased the Acer A150 because I was going on a cruise and wanted something small and light. I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269. The Operating System First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. Aspiring to be inspiring! Is this another Ace Acer?

Advantages: SUPERB battery life, relatively portable and very slim.
Disadvantages: For basic and general business use, not games.

Firstly, I want to make clear that the Acer Aspire 4810T is a laptop to consider for business use, or non-graphics-intensive applications such as Word, Excel and standard internet browsing. If you are expecting to be able to play the latest video games and run graphics designer packages, then you'd be better off looking at other laptops with better stats than this one. What it does have in its favour is an increased battery life of around 7 hours, possibly as much as 8 - and a very slim and portable design with a gorgeous 14" screen. It is in a word SEXY! Advantages: Looks alright, cheap, simple, DVD writer
Disadvantages: Feels and looks cheap, easily damaged, poor speakers

...So I've been borrowing my mums Acer Aspire 3610 since November to help me with my uni work and I must admit it's not as good as it perhaps should be, or maybe i just have high standards. Then again it's not completely bad news, so we'll start with the good news (what little their is) 500mb ram, 1.50 Ghz and all of this for under £400 (with free 3 year complete warranty when my mum bought it). And the DVD writer works fine for me, as do the USB ports and the such. The warranty I'll admit will be persued upon when the state of this becomes worse, but currently it's a case of neccesity for me to use it and so maybe doing my work on it does lead me to disliking it a bit more than I should. Advantages: Fast, Durable, Unique
Disadvantages: Overly sensitive and emits a high pitched noise

...I bought this laptop about a month ago. So far it has served me very well. It's not the most portable laptop ever made but it's is unique in design and has a cream interior which is a great contrast to it's glossy shiny black cover (although the cover does get annoying smudged very easily). I also love the Webcam in the lid which is perfect for video chatting, although i was disappointed that it cannot be swivled around like it can be on other acer models. You can read about the advantages of this laptop all over the net and i would agree - it is a fast capable laptop. However there are some negatives, namely: 1. if you close the lid or leave it in hibernation for too long with the lid closed, it makes an incredibly annoying high pitched continuous beep until you raise the lid.
