The good old M6 at Christmas
Review of M6 Toll by  BUBBLES171

Advantages: few
Disadvantages: cost

...The M6 is a complete nightmare for anyone not just for businesses but for people who want to travel down or up to holiday locations or for even simple things like going to see parents over the Christmas Holidays. The M6 goes through the West Midlands and is one of the busiest motorways in Great Britain. I live in Warrington, Cheshire and we are joined to the M6 here, my parents live in Worcester and grandparents who live in Birmingham, we have to go this route and it is a nightmare of a journey. I hate it when we get near to Birmingham as to be honest it would be much quicker to get out of the car and walk down the hard shoulder. (This is only a comments and not to be advised, just to give you an impression of how slow the traffic is). We also have the infamous Thelwall Viaduct which often gets closed to high winds and there have... Read review

My stay at the Holiday Inn, M6 J7
Review of Holiday Inn Birmingham M6, Jct. 7, Birmingham by  lois22

Advantages: Access to gym and pool, good breakfast
Disadvantages: Some noise from neighbours

...I stayed at the Holiday Inn Birmingham M6, Jct. 7 last weekend. I paid £54 for two people bed and breakfast. This was direct from the Holiday Inn website and was the best I could find. It was slightly cheaper because it was advance payment, although as it was on my credit card I've still not actually paid! It was very easy to find, literally 2 mins off the M6. While the exterior did have a slight council flat look to it, the reception area was lovely. Check in was smooth and speedy. We had a room that seemed to be miles away, although we found a slightly quicker route later! The room was clean and tidy. It had a desk and chair along with a small 'dining' table and chair. There was a 'room service' service although it did look rather expensive (to be expected I suppose!). The bathroom was on the compact side, but again it was clean... Read review

A toll booth too far... ?
Review of M6 Toll by  robert_parnham

Advantages: Saves time, avoids Cannock
Disadvantages: Years of misery during its construction, you have to pay!

...So, it’s finally here. Years of motoring misery for anyone who’s used the motorways or primary roads around the north of the West Midlands are wiped out at a stroke by the opening of the new M6 Toll. Or are they? Years in the Making When the signs went up about 3 years ago saying “delays possible until December 2003”, it seemed an age away. A few years ago, I had cause to go to the West Midlands area a few times a week, via the M42. My better half on the other hand had to do this commute daily. Because the M6 / M42 and new M6 Toll all must meet and interchange somewhere between my house and Birmingham, the chaos caused by the new road construction was immense. Fortunately for me, my commute to Birmingham ended, but my other half’s turmoil only deepened, when a new job because available in Wolverhampton. This meant having... Read review

Reclaim your desk and look cool!
Review of Acer AcerPower 1000 - Athlon 64 3500+ by  allangallop

Advantages: Small Form factor, Lots of functionality, Quiet operation, 8 usb ports
Disadvantages: Upgradability, Costly upgrading via mini-pci

...The Acer AcerPower 1000 is a tiny, yet fully featured computer, standing only 6cm tall and 25cm wide! The Small print ------------------------------ The most common problem with most ultra-small form factor computers is cooling and chunky external power supplies (Xbox 360 anyone?) But this is not a problem for this little box despite having a Althon 64 3500+ processor under the hood. Functionality? ---------------------- Not a problem here, the AcerPower 1000 is packing 8 USB 2.0 ports , 4 of which are on the front! Not to mention the rear where you will find the 24pin DVI, VGA, PS/2 (Keyboard), Audio in, out, Mic and headphone interfaces! Also the unit has a Gigabyte (1Gb) 10/100 compatible ethernet connection for highspeed surfing! This unit really does put the Mac Mini to shame. Space and Storage... Read review

A place to rest when driving on the M6
Review of Tebay Services Hotel by  mumsymary

Advantages: good place
Disadvantages: none

...We have often stopped at Tebay services both north and south heading back from Scotland at Easter we stopped at Tebay south. So this review is about Tebay southbound Tebay services are in Cumbria between j38 and j39 of the M6 In 1972 Tebay north opened it was not until 1993 that Tebay South bound opened. These service stations are owned by Westmorland Limited a company formed when two local Cumbrian families, the Dunnings and the Birketts joined together. These families were local bakers and Tebay is the only locally owned and run service station. This service station has been very successful winning many awards .In 2006 Tebay Services were voted the Best Motorway Services in Britain by 'Which Holiday' magazine. I would totally agree with this choice. Tebay north is a fairly attractive low building in a really attractive area... Read review

More features than an iPod for under £30???
Review of Meizu M6 Mini Player 2 GB by  tazzik

Advantages: Long battery life, plays videos, wide range of audio formats, great screen, all for £29
Disadvantages: Doesn't support M4A.

...INTRODUCTION: I got my M6 from a friend who visited China. She paid just £29 for it (current conversion rates). She managed to buy it just before Meizu increased the price nationwide by about £10. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I received the M6 in its own personalized bag with some writing in chinese and a picture of it on the front. I got it out of the bag and found, of course, for the packaging to be just like the iPod's, as is alomst everything to do with this player. I turned it on and found that all the menus were in chinese. To fix this I went to a very good fansite where there were instructions on how to change the language, the site will be mentioned at the end of the review. When I turned it on and went to look round the menu, I noticed that there were some sample songs, included free! Only two were titled in english and they were... Read review

Travelodge - Southwaite M6 - Carlisle
Review of Travelodge Carlisle Southwaite, Carlisle by  kismet

Advantages: cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: limited food available on site

...We recently travelled up to Scotland from Devon and on the way up needed to break up the journey. We stopped at Southwaite Travelodge on the M6. The Travelodge is right beside the southbound motorway between junctions 41 and 42. There is access from each side of the motorway and you have to drive under to motorway from the northbound side. It is 8 miles from Carlisle PRICE ++++++ We paid £50 for a non-smoking room which we booked online back in February. The current price is £51 or £54. BOOKING ++++++++ We booked online, which was very easy. You enter the date and number of nights, click away and it tells you what is available. The room is reserved with your credit card payment and they take payment when you arrive. Rooms can be booked up to 12 months in advance and sometimes they have super savers of £10 or £26... Great Mower But Like Manouvering Lisa Riley
Review of Mountfield M6 53cm Petrol Electric Start Self Propelled Rotary by  polydeuces

Advantages: Powerful, good wide cut
Disadvantages: Heavy and takes an age to warm up

...If you have read my review of the Hayter Hunter mower you will know I have a big garden. To keep the extensive grass area tidy I have three mowers. I have a Westwood sit and ride tractor which I will review at a later date, my Hayter and my recent purchase a Mountfield M6 power driven electric start mower. I saw the Mountfield in a local power mower shop. It had been reduced from £900 to £560 and given the specification of the mower this seemed a bargain. It has a useful 21 inch cut and uses a powerful Briggs and Stratton OHV engine. The mower can be started using the key start electric ignition but the first thing I learned was that from cold you always need the cable start. It seems the battery is just not capable of holding enough power to get the engine motoring. Starting then is 3 quick presses on the bulb to shoot fuel... Read review
