Acoustic Solutions LCD32NK750HD 32" LCD HD READY
Review of Acoustic Solutions LCD 32 NK 750 HD by  steve200

Advantages: Good Price
Disadvantages: Poor Remote Control / Extended Guarantee Coverage

...for my 2nd TV. 2 Scarts, 1 HDMI, etc.. Very slow at going through the differenct AV's using the remote. You have to wait for the AV to connect and show the screen before you can move on to the next one. Again, for the price you will get used to it. One thing I do need to point out about this TV is the extended warranty. You can only get the extended warranty from Argos. No other insurance provider that I can find so far provides extended warranties for this brand. I have been in touch with Acoustic Solutions and they have told me this is an exclusive line to Argos and they have nothing to do with this. A bit disappointing that I could not use Domestic and General as they were cheaper. Have had to take it out with Argos now just in case anything does happen after the 12 months inclusive warranty. To sum it up I think I got... Read review

Acoustic Solutions DS534
Review of Acoustic Solutions DS534 by  Mophandleman

Advantages: Cheap, Decent Quality
Disadvantages: Speaker Stands, Remote

...I was looking for a surround sound system for under €200, and with prices in Ireland that is no easy feat. After shopping around and finding plenty of Home cinema systems with no Optical in and maybe one anaolgue in I was giving up and was gonna start saving the €380 (approx $550) on the Sony equivelent when I saw this for sale in Argos for €150. It has one optical input which is perfect for the XBox 360 and 2 x Analogue which was perfect for Sky box & DVD player. There was also a COAX digital input which I did not use. Setup: Any system where you're wiring in 5 speakers will be fiddly work but with all the speakers clearly labeled with their positions it wasn't too bad. I had all the speakers wired and positioned in about 15 mins. I was quite lucky as I have a small room and the rear speakers had the perfect length cable... Read review

Philips DVD Recordable - Right choice?
Review of Philips DVD Recordable DVDR890 by  Niburu

Advantages: Easy to manage, good quality recordings
Disadvantages: Format issues (see below)

...Without most of us really noticing a thing, the recordable DVD market has progressed in leaps and bounds. Could it be time to banish your video machine to the fiery depths of the electronic abyss? Read the review and then some important info on DVD Formats. Philips DVDR880/890 Both very similar machines, just varying slightly in price and features and like the new released models by Philips, they have been good sellers in a volatile and suspicious market. Features - Turn the first few pages of the manual and you would forgiven for believing you have purchased a stylish looking VCR. On closer inspection, the large gaping cassette hole has been replaced with a CD draw and all those analogue outputs with digital ones. Like modern VCR’s, the Philips range include the usual VideoPlus, PDC, timer recording, One Touch Recording... Read review

MY camping In The Bad Weather Life Saver
Review of Acoustic Solutions DVD-222 by  hewks

Advantages: Cheaper than other portable Dvd's
Disadvantages: No carry case, volume not quite high enough

...hunted through the book for a bargain and I got one. * The DVD player* It is a Acoustic Solutions DVD 222, Mmm never heard of it either but I'd never heard of the new vodka I tried last week and I loved that, so I decicded to give it a go. The box was white with purple bits and a picture on the front, it had a little carry hangle on the top which was pretty handy, you can even keep it in that untill you can get a case. It was very well packed with everything in it's own little bag in small compartments, no chance of anything getting broken before it is opened. The actual DVD player measures approximately 9" x 7" and it is only 1.5" high when closed, the battery pack is about 2" high and this fits on to the back of the DVD player itself. It is silver in colour and has a little matching remote control which measures2" x 4" and is so... Read review

Combined DVD Recorder and VCR
Review of Toshiba D-VR16SB DVD Recorder/VCR Combo by  johnboycoastie

Advantages: Seems to do everything the maker claims
Disadvantages: hav'nt found one yet

...I have recently purchased the Toshiba D-VR16SB combo unit, and am initially very pleased with it. It is a neat looking unit, and I found the initial connecting and set up relatively easy. The unit has an auto tune facility to find the terrestial TV channels, and scart connection for satellite, and facilities are there for s video or audio/video cables if required. For DVD recording it has a choice of six modes, giving up toa max of 600 minutes on a 12cm DVD disc, down to the highest quality level of recording, giving 60 mins of very high quality.I have used the recorder on the standard setting, which gives 120 mins at a fairly good quality level. You can use DVD RW disc, which you can wipe and reuse, or normal discs which you finalise, and they can then be played on any DVD player. If you wish to record onto Video tape, then the VCR... 80 GB HDD Sony DVD Recorder
Review of Sony DVD Recorder RDRHX525 Multi-Region by  NORTHERNSOUL21

Advantages: Instant One Touch Recording. 80GB Hard Disc Drive. VideoPlus.
Disadvantages: Poor Manual Layout

...I decided that it was time to purchase a DVD Recorder for the first time. (don't buy videos anymore - DVD's are just as cheap). After speaking to friends and scouring the internet the main features I wanted were HDD (Hard Disc Drive) of at least 80GB. Even in Standard Recording Mode (for which you wont notice any real difference from HQ (High Quality) you get 26 Hours of recording. In SLP Mode you have 106 Hours which is similar to Video (VHS) Recording. It is easy to Record from Video onto either DVD or HDD (after which you can then Edit). For Recording from your Digital Camcorder I stronly suggest your purchase an I-Link Cable (Sony sell these for £19.99) these can be easily purchased from E-Bay etc. One of the excellent features of this DVD Recorders is that it comes with VideoPlus. This means that you simply type in the code... Read review

Well worth the money
Review of Acoustic Solutions LCD 32805 HD by  johnphilip

Advantages: Great quality TV without an expensive price tag
Disadvantages: No freeview.

...disadvantage I have found is the lack of freeview built in. This would appear to be a bit of an oversight as this will soon become the broadcasting standard for all. However as they say, you get what you pay for. Having said that freeview boxes are available from most of the big supermarkets now from just £15. SUMMARY ************ The big question is would I recommend or buy the same set again? Quite simply Yes!!. For the price paid, the all round quality is very very good and more than comparable with TV's priced £100 - £200 more expensive. Technical Spec's ******************* Manufacturer: Acoustic Solutions Brightness in Candela/m²: 500 Common Interface Slot: No Contrast Ratio (X:1): 1200 Depth in cm: 18 DVB-C: No DVB-S: No DVB-T: No DVD Player / Recorder: No DVI Interface: No Electronic Program... Freecome DVD RW Recorder USB 2.0
Review of Freecom DVD RW Recorder LS USB 2.0 by  RMcCartyhy

Advantages: ummmmm
Disadvantages: Doesn't work very well, slow, intermitently recognises disks, poor back up service, need I go on?

...I ordered my Freecom DVD Recorder LS USB 2.0 after my CD/DVD drive packed up on my 15 month old HP Desktop. I wanted it mainly to load CD ROM and burn DVD's from movies already converted to DVD format on my hard drive. Being that my PC had no disk drive I relied upon this external drive to load the bundled DVD burning software (Roxio 9). This took several days and many attempts. Then I tried burning my first DVD. After taking 3 hours to do a task that previously took about 30 minutes, this recorder produced a disc that no dvd player in my home recognised (and I have 4). I found the user interface very unfriendly and it simply didn't work. Needles to say, I'll be getting a refund!... Read review

Acoustic Extravaganza - Acoustic Gem!
Review of KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza - K.T. Tunstall by  runetune

Advantages: Everything that is so good about KT Tunstall
Disadvantages: One song just has an edge of studio recording about it.

...Eye to the Telescope was a great album from KT Tunstall (well I thought so!) So I was really eager to add this to my collection when it was released. This is a CD/DVD set. First the play list: Disc: 1 (CD) 1. Ashes 2. Girl And The Ghost 3. One Day 4. Golden Age (cover of Beck song) 5. Boo Hoo 6. Gone To The Dogs 7. Change 8. Miniature Disasters (from Eye to the Telescope) 9. Universe & U (Acoustic Extravaganza Version) 10. Throw Me A Rope Disc: 2 (DVD) 1. Five Go To Skye (the making of the album documentary) 2. Gone To The Dogs (live) 3. Throw Me A Rope (live) 4. Wee Bastard Pedal 5. Out Takes History of the album: Originally only available through her website, it was eventually (and thankfully) decided to release this in its own right. We don't have the hit singles 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree... Read review

Review of Acoustic Solutions PORTAL2 by  antsss

Advantages: Nicely designed DAB receiver
Disadvantages: Still a bit pricey for the casual user

...the Portal 1 which might look a bit too much like a cheese grater. --> THE PORTAL 2 – DESIGN I couldn’t wait to get the radio out of the box. I was so convinced that this was Argos tat and would be equally as disappointing as my Sainsburys DVD recorder, I was ready to jump back in the car. But I have to say, I was amazed. This bland beige rectangle was actually a solid, well-made radio made from smooth, matt white plastic. It certainly looked more space age in the flesh and I loved the look and feel of it immediately. If you’re not convinced about beech casing on a modern radio, you will really appreciate the slick, stylish Portal 2, because the catalogue picture certainly doesn’t do it justice. Given the choice I think my Dad may prefer a wooden case because he has more traditional tastes. -- > NO MANUAL REQUIRED Although... Read review
