...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

Advantages: lots of fun for kids
Disadvantages: can easily spend to much time on it

...I have to say I am a great fan of the playstation 2, my son has one and he loves to play it, as do I. Although I tend to limit the time he spends on it. I cant really find anything bad about the ps2, but lately it has been partly to blame for a few problems in my family, my younger brother who is 15 years old first got his when he was about 8 years old, he was over the moon, my mother also put a limit on the time he would spend on it. He was fine with this, he was`nt really a child who went out a lot so most of his time was spent on the playstation or having a chin wag with anyone who would listen, he was always very smart and sensible. Advantages: Ease of use, Simple, Slim

...My Experience I got this gaming console as a Birthday Gift around an year ago. So I have more than 1 years experience with this product. And I think that this is a great gaming console. I use this even to listen to audio CD's and watch movies.Yes, that's right you can also watch DVD's and listen to Audio CD's but not MP3 format cd's and dvd. Even so, the graphics of the games, the speed of game play, the ease of playing games with its Dual Shock 2 Analogue Joystick( even wireless is available) is just an amazing experience. Most of the time I preffer playing Action/Shooting, Racing and Soccer games. I can even buy a multi-tap and upto 8 friends can join me in gaming with the same console. ...The Playstation 2 has sold in excess of over 100 million consoles since it was released back in 2000. When orginally released the Playstation 2 was much larger in size than the slimline version which Sony released in 2004. I am going to look into what are the benefits of the new system and look at the good and bad features. Good Features The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Advantages: looks nice not too loud

Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

...downside to the console but I don't really expect out of this world graphics from it and the games are still very much enjoyable, I just try and ignore the wavy lines. Their more obvious in older games I think, some don't have that problem at all really, maybe check online reviews of the games you buy for it if you want to avoid that, it should say in reviews if the game suffers alot from this. I'd say its well worth buying a second hand old PS2, look around online you can find some pretty good deal, I know that Gamestation offer a second hand PS2 and 2 PS2 games in a 2 for £20 range for only £59.99, £10 cheaper than the same deal with a slimline PS2 and to me, im not that bothered about the slimline ones, the original one is good enough for me. PS2-Gaming BLISS

Advantages: Most powerful console at the moment, loads of great games coming out, DVD player.
Disadvantages: A little expensive.

...Okay, the PS2 has had many problems. The launch on Japan buggered up, and sales aren't going that well in Japan. The American release went relatively well, but lots of consoles had problems (Discs not being read, Drives not opening, games locking up etc), and many unhappy Americans had to take their console back, or get a refund. The European launch was very poor. Firstly, it was £300, which means the Americans got it cheaper. Then, you had to pre-order a console, and this led to confusion, and a lot of unhappy people. Some pre-orders weren't filled for months, and some people who pre-ordered in March, got their's after people who pre-ordered in August-September time! Another problem was that the lauch was delayed a few weeks. Also, we suffered what the Americans suffered. Machines not working, DVDs playing green, etc...

...The arrival of the European PS2 Hard Drive is still some way off, as it was only released in Japan midway through last year, and currently retails at around ¥18,000 for the internal version, and ¥19,000 for the external.
