...recommend upgrading to current firmware and 2.16 storcon utl (both are on www.intel.com. There is a linux version of the 2.16 storcon, but it was hard to find!) With initial installation on a Gigabyte GA7 motherboard and Adaptec 2940AU SCSI controller, the problems with onboard intel BIOS / adaptec 2940AU and mobo BIOS reared it's ugly head. I could not for the life of me with all the PCI juggling, IRQ remapping and BIOS remapping options get it to boot with a Adaptec SCSI card and Intel RAID card. I asked a friend about his setup, and he had no problems (he was running a Intel serverboard with his SRCS14L) My problem was solved by removing SCSI from system completely and migrating to IDE bootup drives (which was such a pain on linux!) ...This is the first album from A-ha for a while, and i think it is brilliant. I was a fan of their 80's music, who couldn't love 'Take On Me'???!! if you're expecting this album to be like that, you will be pleasantly suprised. There are some real gems on this album, including my favourite the lead song 'Analogue'. 1. Celice - I think this is an unusual song to open, as it is the worst song and most annoying one on the album! If you think the album can only go downhill from this, you are very wrong. it gets better and better! 2. Don't Do Me Any Favours - a nice guitar, catchy song. It has very thought provoking lyrics and is a nice summer tune. 3. Cosy Prisons - This is a nice slow tune, with just a piano and acoustic guitar accompanying Morten Harkets voice. he always hits those high notes perfectly, and this doesnt change... Read review

Advantages: A bargain. Easy to install and used. Good entry level SCSI controller.
Disadvantages: No support for higher data rates.

...If you plug an SCSI card into your pc, don’t hold your breath because nothing exciting is going to happen. (Unless of course you have made a very bad job of installing the card. Then you might see smoke and flames coming from your cherished/reviled PC or even, in extreme cases, find yourself moving down a tunnel towards a bright light.) However, once you have installed you SCSI card you will be able to attach any number of exciting devices to your pc. Although this is an opinion of Adaptecs AVA-2900 series of SCSI card, it is also a general review of SCSI. I have done this because as far as I can tell this is the first review at Ciao of a SCSI controller card. ...I have decided to review another a-ha album again much sooner than I planned after I saw this fine Greatest Hits album for a measly £3! In ASDA, if you're curious. It appears that it has been "remaindered" or whatever it is happens to CDs that makes them end up in bargain sections of supermarkets. So, if you don't own this album, and like top-notch popular music, I would strongly recommend you cast your eye over the CD section in your local hypermarket. It was released in 1991, and so the most recent song on there is Move to Memphis. But I'm sure that these songs will be the most familiar to people who aren't already hardcore a-ha fans, and for that reason, it's probably the best place to start if you are at all interested in rediscovering these (far too often neglected) Norwegian pop gods. ...I have to start this review by declaring an interest: I love a-ha. I have done for more than 20 years, since I was 9, in fact, making them my longest-standing crush. Morten Harket could read the Oslo phone book and release it as an album and I would buy it. And probably LOVE it. So hopefully this review will also tell you exactly why you'd be a fool to write a-ha off as "the band that did Take On Me". I have to say that if they were Irish, they'd probably be the biggest band in the world. If you're one of the people that only remembers a-ha from the 1980s, then the fact that a-ha are still working, recording and selling huge numbers of records and concert tickets may surprise you. ...Adaptec direct Cd is an okay program, but for the most part it is too limited for the average or advanced user. If you are a beginner it is good only because it is easy and straightforward. But as you get better at rewriting cds, you'll notice you are missing a lot of the main features you will need to do it quickly and efficiently. The number 1 gripe I have with adaptec is how fast it takes to format your rewriteable cd. Adaptec's software is too slow (about 20 mins) as compared to Nero which takes a couple minutes. And on top of that, you can sometimes get errors depending on the rewriteable cds you buy and it will not format correctly. As soon as you get it formatted, it works well for the most part. Its quick to read and write, but if your going for settings, reliability and a fast writer program, then i suggest to use Nero... Read review

...I'm continuing my poke through my record collection with another offering from Norwegian legends a-ha. Scoundrel Days was a-ha's "difficult" second album. It was a move away from their "synth pop" reputation after Hunting High and Low, and was perhaps a bit of a shock for their teenage fans, but at ten years old I was too young to be disappointed. I loved it. I held long scarves in my hands and danced, with an abandon that can only be described as "gay", around my bedroom to every song on this album, and it's probably the reason why, by the time I was a teenager, I was into rock and metal. Luckily since then I've realised I'm a TERRIBLE dancer. In a highly unscientific poll (a search through my memory to remember the opinions of fellow a-ha fans over the years) the vast majority of a-ha fans named SD as their favourite ever a-ha... ...About 10 months ago I purchased a Memorex CD-RW complete with adaptec Easy CD Creator v4 and Direct CD v3 how happy I was burning CD's and re-writing, erasing and saving all sorts to cd instead of clogging up my hard drive with rubbish....I could drag drop and delete pictures direct from my camera just like using windows explorer taking my work with me so that I could add to it any where. I am so impressed by every aspect of this programe , the speed and ease of use, extra program for jewel case labels, data copying, music CD copying is ideal so that I can have a perfect copy of my cd's in my car. It was dead easy to intall, with absolutely no hicups and for several months my Memorex CD-RW has had lots of use....UNTIL NOW GRRRRRR IT WILL NOT AND WILL NEVER WORK IN WINDOWS XP Adaptec software has been handed... ...At least that was what I thought at the age of 7 in 1985 when Norwegian band A-ha burst on to the pop scene. At that tender age they appealed to me simply because of their catchy songs and good looking singer, but looking back now I can see that they were in fact extremely original, very talented – oh, and Morten was rather lovely! A-ha were a three piece band, comprising singer Morten Harket, and musicians Magne (Mags) Furuholmen and Pal Waaktaar. Despite hailing from Norway they sung in English. Due to Morten’s chiselled good looks, they were seen by some as nothing more than a ‘boy band’ (although boy bands were probably not known by that name in those days, as fortunately there were not enough of them around to warrant their own categorisation!) but they did in fact write and perform their own material and were responsible...
