Advantages: Plug n play, reliable, efficient Disadvantages: A bit pricy
...Finally, just when I was begining to give up on ever attaching my SCSI drive to my system, along came the answer to my prayers. A neat fitted in seconds, no need to open the case solution; the Adaptec USB to SCSI connector.
This piece of electronic genius allows you to connect virtually any SCSI device directly to your PC through its USB port. It works and is brilliant. It just plugs in and away it goes. Everything is supplied and with easy to follow directions.
It is not cheap though, expect to pay about $50 ($90) for it but compared with a SCSI card & cables it probably works out the same and is definately 100% less hastle than trying to configure an already stuffed full to the brim machine.
It's got my vote....
Advantages: Looks, High build quality Disadvantages: Expensive
...Fed up of using a USB cable to connect my ipod touch to my laptop and draining all its battery, I decided to invest in an USB power adapter. Being pretty naive at the time of purchase, I thought I had to use an apple one, so unfortunately paid £20! Looking back on it, this was the craziest purchase I have ever made, because it didn't take me long to realise, I could get the for a few pounds on the internet, with postage costing more than the adapter itself.
However, that was a couple of years ago, and I have since come to realise that the £20 I forked out wasn't as bad as first seemed. The power adapter itself comprises of 2 parts which interlock together; a power pack that UK 3 pin plug slides and locks into. When put together, the plug is quite bulky, and will stick out about 4 inches from the plug - probably the biggest plug I own...
Advantages: Easy to use, good transfer speeds, pocket size and very useful indeed Disadvantages: none at all
...Some PC?s, be it a laptop or a desk top, don?t have a SD card slot as standard so when it comes to transferring those precious pictures onto your PC from your camera, digital or still, it was a matter of dragging out the old fashioned cables, connecting your camera to your PC and transferring your pictures with the speed of a snail in a Teflon coated pan.
Now that problem is now over, well, to be honest it has been over for a while now, as there is a remarkably cracking little invention on the market with will take your SD cards and treat them as if they are USB slot compatible.
This little device is called an Integral USB 2.0 single slot SD card reader and, as I said, it helps people whose PC?s don?t have an SD card slot transfer their precious information from there SD card compatible equipment, such as your camera or even you...
