ADI MicroScan 6P
Review of ADI MicroScan 6P by
martin_hunt
Advantages: Excellent picture quality
Disadvantages: Very Expensive
...Today, colorful graphical user interfaces rule the PC world. When you try to manage multiple windows on a small 14" monitor, you quickly realize that there has got to be a better way. Many PC's are now being shipped with 17" monitors, but for some people, that is still not good enough. I opted for ADI MicroScan. It's bigger than a 17" monitor, but not to clunky like a 21" monitor and has a 18" viewable screen. The MicroScan 6P is certainly not for someone who does only word processing. This monitor is ideally suited for multimedia programs, advanced graphics design, and desktop publishing, although i find it being used for games most of the time.
The MicroScan 6P was a breeze to set up, it's fully plug and play compliant. Windows 98 had no trouble at all detecting it on my machine. Just incase you do have problems though, ADI...

Not a good choice
Review of ADI MicroScan G710 by
iharsh
Advantages: Multimedia, new technologies
Disadvantages: Unusual menu, big moire, geometric distortions, not so good looks
...The 17-inch screen monitor ADI MicroScan G710 has an absolute flat screen and is intended for the professionals. Bright, the saturated colors in a combination to an absolute flat screen reproduce an image enough precisely and realistically. It uses an electron-beam tube FD Trinitron. The maximum size of an image at MicroScan G710 makes 406,4 mm on a diagonal.
The screen monitor MicroScan G710 has horizontal frequency 30-96 kHz and vertical - 50-160 Hz. The maximum resolution - 1600х1200 with frequency of 75 Hz. Even for such resolution the display ensures a unflickering image. In ADI MicroScan G710 is used tube with an aperture lattice and pitch between orifices 0,24 mm.
Set-up of parameters of an image, as well as in majority of modern screen monitors, is carried out with the help of screen menu, in which apart from of standard...

Large and in charge
Review of ADI MicroScan 6P by
rmallinson
Advantages: Great picture
Disadvantages: Large on the desk, not the cheapest of monitors
...Having spent about two years putting up with a 15 inch monitor that i recieved with my PC, i decided with the increased amount of time i was spending working on school stuff and using the internet i would treat myself.
My uncle was able to get me a reduction on this monitor, which meant that rather than the 17inch monitor i had budgeted on i was able to get this 19inch moster. I have to say it was a great decision, while 17inch monitors do offer reasonably clear picture and don't strain your eyes, if you can you should look at the next size up.
The ADI 6P offers great picture quality, with a maximum resolution of 1600 by 12000, it has full controls in an on screen menu which is easily navigable though the buttons are a bit small. It also provides a built in USB hub with four upline and one downline ports, and a microphone socket...

I was right about the Tekbright:)
Review of Toshiba Tekbright 520 by
Techmonkey
Advantages: Long lasting, built in mic, good quality
Disadvantages: Occasionally fails, runs quite hot
...Background info
I got this monitor 3-4 years ago, when my old ADI Microscan was on it's last legs. My computer is shared between several people, so is almost always turned on and in use... Obviousy I was after something that could cope with alot of use, but I could not think of anything that would work well... After reading only 2 reviews I decided on this monitor, simply because it was the only one that I could find which had had it's durability remarked on. I bought it, and instantly decided I'd made a great decision!
First impressions
My very first thoughts upon hooking the monitor up to the computer and turning it on were that I had been living my life in monochrome, and now all the colours were bright and vivid. The old Microscan I was using was quite knackered, and had...

You cannot see this without a monitor
Review of ADI MicroScan 5P Plus by
bigdgaff
Advantages: Good refresh rate and good all round performance
Disadvantages: Big case and heavy
...I thought I would try a consumery op for a change. As I type this, I am looking at the screen of the ADI MicroScan 5P+. It is the usual beige colour and has a screen size of 17 inches (16-inch viewable area). For those who do not know, the size is measured diagonally between two corners of the screen.
At the top of the monitor and placed centrally are three triangular marks. The left and right sides are decorative indents. The central mark is a hole and behind it is a microphone. There is a wire provided that plugs into the soundcard and allows you to talk to someone when linked top their computer. I have used this to scare my family across our network by shouting down the microphone when I know they have their speakers on. You have to stand close to the hole though, as it is a very cheap and nasty microphone.
This monitor is heavy, I...

You can only hope you dont have a problem
Review of Dial a phone by
micova
Advantages: hmmm.. cant think of any
Disadvantages: Extremely poor after service
...1. The only interest of Dial a phone is to sell, that is the only number one can speak to a person. After buying a phone in March 06 a fault developed rendering it un-usable. Phoned up Dial a phone to be told take it to O2 and they will fix it… took it to O2 who told me it was Dial A Phones responsibility.
2. I phoned Dial A Phone once again Only getting automated answer, was told I would be sent details what to do. Got an envelope and details how to send it to repair. Couple of weeks later, get the phone back, in EXCACTLY the same condition as before, with no note or explanation why it has not been fixed.
3. On the 12 Dec I start a call to Dial A Phone, after half an hour of waiting and explaining what the problem is I get put thought a sales team manager called Adie, who apparently is no allowed to give his last name. Went thought...

My mate Ady
Review of Everything that starts with A ... by
deano_76
Advantages: great laugh and full of life
Disadvantages: He is a total Pillock but I love him to bits
...My mate Ady:
For anyone of you who values your friends and the honor of their friendship then this op will probably make you closer to your pals than ever before.
Once you have read about my best friend, then no matter how bad things seem with yours they will soon look a little on the trivial side.
I’ll start with a brief description:
He is about 5ft 9, slim build, with a fairly prominent nose (although he’d kill me if he ever found out that I had printed this on to a web site).
He has quite short mousy brown hair with longish sideburns (something which I constantly take the Michael about)
Although 21, he has an unusually looking baby face and can be prone to be asked for his I.D when buying a bag of sweets.
Bad Habits:
Ady has more bad habits than anyone else I know, he constantly picks his large nostrils and slyly...

We Can't Start Fighting - Kate hasn't arrived!
Review of The Kindness of Strangers - Kate Adie by
bonsi6337
Advantages: It is quite interesting to read about the places she has been to
Disadvantages: Can be a bit long winded in places, and is just about her career
...This is a book that my dad bought for me as he knows that I will read just about anything! Priced at £7.99, this can be bought a lot cheaper on sites like Amazon or even Ebay, so shop around - you may just bag a bargain.
~~~Synopsis~~~
Kate Adie is one of the world's more well known female reporters for the BBC and has been in some of the most dangerous places. She has reported from Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Northern Ireland and China, just to name a few.
My title was inspired by a cartoon featured in the book, of two soldiers waiting to go into battle in Iraq, with one saying "We can't start yet ... Kate Adie isn't here..."
To me this is quite poignant, as being married to a soldier, I understand the dangers of the places that she has reported from, and have to give her kudos for having the determination to go there. I certainly...
How to pass your Driving Test in 3 months flat!
Review of Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test by
Macstars5
Advantages: Amazing sence of achievement, and FREEDOM!!!
Disadvantages: Very soon you become Mum's TAXI!
...Yes that's right, 3 months. I had just turned 40 in May, when I decided this was the year to go for it, so to speak, and get myself that much desired full driving license. So I applied for my very first provisional license in July. My neighbours two daughters had passed first or second time with an ADI who lives just around the corner from me, so on their recommendation I gave him a call, and so my first lesson was booked for Friday 21st July 2006.
To say I was petrified would be an understatement, and then my ADI had a problem with his car, so he had to postpone the lesson to the Saturday morning! I got in the passenger side and he drove us to a quiet estate and we went through all the basics, and then we swapped seats and I practiced pulling off and stopping, and went back and forth around the estate. The hour was soon up and my...
