Decent beginners weights bench

Advantages: easy to assemble
Disadvantages: the design could be improved

...During my gap year from sixth form to university I got a job as a lifeguard at the local sports centre and as a consequence spent a lot of time in the gym. I puchased a york 6605 weights bench so I could workout at home instead of travelling to and from the gym on my days off. It was reasonably straightforward to assemble and at first I was delighted with it. However, after using it a few times I began to notice the design faults. Firstly, when doing leg curls, especially quadricep raises it was hurting my shins, I don't think it was designed with tall people in mind (im 6ft 1'). Because of this I had to place something on the seat to elevate my vertical position. The second problem was the bench press. This was fine when performing flat or decline bench presses, but when performing incline ones it is very hard to lift the weights off...

...The York Folding bench is an incline bench which can be easily adjusted to give 4 different angles of back rest, It also has a detachable leg extension attachment which is great for doing leg curls. It has 2 safety hooks for the barbell bench press which is a must if you are working out on your own and don't have a spotter. It has 2 butterfly attachment which just get in the way and nobody ever really uses them. The maximum total weight it supports is 200kg including body weight so it is good for the heavy lifters. My opinion on the bench is: I think it is really good its durable and comfortable, it can be easily folded up to hide away in a corner. I have had a lot of use out of mine and its still going strong. ...is about right and in the same ballpark as the standing ones. I have since found this seat available in Mothercare, John Lewis and Boots and in two other designs. I have the Seventy design which is pictured above. The only reservation I had about this chair was if it would hook onto my table. I have an IKEA wooden table and there are wooden bits on the bottom. When the chair first arrived I took the arms out to see if it would fit ... YAY! It fit quite easily! I took the rest out and there was the seat itself, the two metal arms that attach to the table and one other metal bit for the seat. I found it easy to slot the metal bits into place and under the table it was just a matter of placing the arms and pushing the adjustable fixers and twisting the handle to the locked position. The only part I found rather tricky was snapping...
