Adobe Dreamweaver - fantastic bit of software!

Advantages: easy to use, code hinting, loads of useful features
Disadvantages: sometimes is a bit tempremental

I started using Dreamweaver as the designer of my site, never venturing into the code side of things. Dreamweaver is great when it comes to this, the new CS4 interface makes everything so much easier to get to. It is so simple that you can have a table based template set up in no time! However, when I started looking into making my site a little better and nicer looking, I came accross CSS. When I started using this coding language, I knew nothing about it, however when I opened up a blank CSS document, I noticed that when I typed I got suggestions of what could be put in. Worth the money.

Advantages: Easy to use, lots of tools.
Disadvantages: Expensive.

...filters you can put on your photos, creating very interesting effects eg. artistic, blur and distortion . There are also lots of adjustments you can make to your photos to make them look even better. You can edit brightness and contrast, hue and saturation, put it in negative and many, many more. There is also a paintbrush tool if you want to do some digital painting. There are lots of different brush types, which you can change the size and hardness of to suit your needs. There is also a 3D editor which I am not familiar with myself as I have never needed to use it before. Photoshop is a very expensive program, but in my opinion, it is well worth the money. Cheaper programs do not offer such high quality tools, so it is worth paying a little extra to get this instead. Overall, I think Photoshop is a very good graphics editing program...

Review of Adobe Flash CS4 Professional - Full Edition

Rough around the edges

Advantages: Same interface to retain die-hard Adobe fans
Disadvantages: Brush engine lag, not too much difference from CS3

...I'm not entirely sure how to feel about the release of CS4 so soon after the release of CS3, when pretty much the whole revamping was done on CS3. But anyhow...let's begin. Since the introduction of Photoshop years ago, the lives of imaging and photo manipulation has never been the same again, for many designers this meant that images can be retouched quickly and easily, with the programmers hard to work at Adobe so that we would be able to save some seconds from our own time. I purchased this with a student discount (thank goodness) about a week ago, because I was absolutely sick and tired of using trial versions, whilst I greatly appreciated the student prices offered, but it was still an extortionate amount of money to part with when student loans if your own means of living for awhile. Review of Adobe Photoshop Extended CS4 (Mac)

It's as good as Photoshop non-upgrade edition, only cheaper!

Advantages: Runs on 64 bit processors properly. Uses the graphics card properly.
Disadvantages: Expensive to upgrade if you don't need the technical benefits. Most features are the same.

...Photoshop is the industry standard application for photo-manipulation and adjustment. You can't really beat it if you're in an industry where you need to adjust bitmap graphics. This review assumes you already have Photoshop and are looking to upgrade (otherwise, why would you be looking at the upgrade edition? you can't upgrade if you don't have an older version already!) The CS4 edition has two really great upgrade features: It uses your graphics card processor directly, making your work blisteringly fast. (Unless you don't have a decent graphics card of course!) Worth the upgrade fee from CS2?

Advantages: New tools, excellent new layout
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...As a graphic designer, I use this package every single day to create artwork and designs for clients. To me, Adobe Creative Suite 3 is like a hammer for a carpenter - it's a must have tool. Adobe seem to upgrade their main packages almost religiously every year - 18 months, so it seems little point forking out the best part of £500+ to simply add a couple of extra brushes or tools for each package. I believe they are already working on their fourth incarnation as we speak. However, CS3 adds more than just a couple of new elements. Adobe has taken the opportunity this time around to offer the user a brand new interface with more customizable options which may or may not suit all. Adobe, the creative persons personality pallete

Advantages: Brilliant facilities allowing scope for maximum creativity, User friendly, Brilliant Online Support Network, Beautifully sharp images (fantastic for making youself thinner, browner, or giving yourself a different hair colour)
