Adobe Photoshop 7 - A Review

Advantages: The best photo-editor on the market, new time-saving features.
Disadvantages: Expensive, new version has few new creative tools, not good for home use.

Amazing Photo Editing Program (Adobe Photoshop CS4)

Advantages: Massive amount of features, endless ways to manipulate pictures
Disadvantages: Takes a while to learn how to use it

...Having recently reviewed Quark on here I thought I should also give a review on Photoshop as it is another program that I use on a daily basis. Photoshop is a photo editing program which again as with quark I started when I was 17 (long time ago now) and at college studying Graphic Design, being young and having never used the program before I thought it was amazing, I didn't realize that there where programs out there that could do so much to pictures. Ideal for an interested Amateur

Advantages: Price, Full featured, reliable software, plently of online tutorials to look at and support
Disadvantages: Categorisation and tagging, unlocking codecs, not intuitive.

...I have recently been roped in to doing video editing for a local paper, and a little video recording and taking the odd photo. Has a lot to do with marrying the Content Editor and Web guru. So after being faced with using a really outdated copy of premiere (5 or 6 I think) I bought myself this Premiere/Photoshop Elements package. I have to say that I'm glad I did. First off I have a big Dual Core laptop (T8100 Pentium Processor, 3Gb RAM 2x320 Gb momentus Drives and a big Nvidia GT card) which is well over the requirements of this software. Secondly I bought from Amazon for under £90 for the package on special offer and thirdly I have had some experience of Premiere in the past. My love affair started with version 2, way back when, and each new incarnation has added life saving tricks to the sizeable toolbox. Version 7 refines all the rough edges of version 6 which initially left me cold. I think the change of interface was always going to divide the followers, and after so many years of shortcutting my way to palettes and expanding tool options, to suddenly have them appear up in the top menu bar was a huge kick in the ribs. Instruction / Help Elements did not come with any printed manuals only a cd, which contained installation instructions, e-books, websites and tools.
