Photoshop Elements Drop Dead Lighting techniques

Advantages: Concise yet easy to follow, some impressive looking projects, well presented
Disadvantages: Special effects section, a little light (sic) on explanations

Ideal for an interested Amateur

Advantages: Price, Full featured, reliable software, plently of online tutorials to look at and support
Disadvantages: Categorisation and tagging, unlocking codecs, not intuitive.

...I have recently been roped in to doing video editing for a local paper, and a little video recording and taking the odd photo. Has a lot to do with marrying the Content Editor and Web guru. So after being faced with using a really outdated copy of premiere (5 or 6 I think) I bought myself this Premiere/Photoshop Elements package. I have to say that I'm glad I did. First off I have a big Dual Core laptop (T8100 Pentium Processor, 3Gb RAM 2x320 Gb momentus Drives and a big Nvidia GT card) which is well over the requirements of this software. Secondly I bought from Amazon for under £90 for the package on special offer and thirdly I have had some experience of Premiere in the past. Installation was smooth and simple, no problems, no fuss just the usual 20-30 minute installation process. Once installed and registered I discovered one...

My Photoshop is Welsh?

Advantages: Fairly easy to use, and has all the features your likely to need for photo editing. Included tutorials. Technical Support.
Disadvantages: It doesn't always work first time! It isn't wildly fast unless you have a very powerful PC. Closing and saving files is a bit torturous.

...My anticipation was high as I loaded the Adobe Photoshop Elements software. After all, all the reviews had been good, and previous Photoshop software worked like a dream. However, my dreams came crashing down when I tried to run the edit option. I waited... and waited... but my system was stuck fast. The screen was frozen, and according to Task Manager, the software was not responding but was using up all my CPU! I tried everything to fix the problem, including reloading Photoshop, removing anything remotely resembling 'photo software', reinstalling Norton, updating windows XP, resetting my screen refresh rate, and reducing my hardware graphics accelerator. Adobe Photoshop- Amazing- End Of

Advantages: marvellous picture editing
Disadvantages: user face can be a little scary, because of all the drop down arrows

I know what filters are now, i know what to do if i want to delete something i did 6 steps back ago, its called the history, i know how to save images in the correct format, i learnt that the paint software was awful the image paints in little pixels and doesnt give you such a smooth image, but the Adobe Photoshop paints in mathematics to what i can only explain as spread sheets its such a piece of clever software. i love Adobe for bringing out...
