Whilst the professionals prefer its more expensive big brother Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements isn't to be sniffed at and offers 80% of the power for 10% of the price whilst making many tasks much easier. The biggest surprise coming from version 3 is that the file browser has gone. Adobe, what are you thinking? Well, it's clear what they're thinking, they want you to use the Photoshop Album interface which merged in to Photoshop Elements with version 3. Elementally Flawed

Advantages: Some well composed and catchy tracks
Disadvantages: Spoiled by Orzabal's personal agenda against his former band mate.

Review of Elemental - Tears For Fears

Ideal for an interested Amateur

Advantages: Price, Full featured, reliable software, plently of online tutorials to look at and support
Disadvantages: Categorisation and tagging, unlocking codecs, not intuitive.

...I have recently been roped in to doing video editing for a local paper, and a little video recording and taking the odd photo. Has a lot to do with marrying the Content Editor and Web guru. So after being faced with using a really outdated copy of premiere (5 or 6 I think) I bought myself this Premiere/Photoshop Elements package. I have to say that I'm glad I did. First off I have a big Dual Core laptop (T8100 Pentium Processor, 3Gb RAM 2x320 Gb momentus Drives and a big Nvidia GT card) which is well over the requirements of this software. Secondly I bought from Amazon for under £90 for the package on special offer and thirdly I have had some experience of Premiere in the past. Lights! Camera! Action!

Advantages: Free trial, reasonable price, easy to use, professional result.
Disadvantages: Burning DVDs is slow.

Elemental or complicated?

Advantages: Colourful, wacky and amusing
Disadvantages: A bit too wacky, way too loooooong

...perhaps isn't necessary to learn more about him, but I just felt that I didn't have the chance to take breath before the action started - I didn't even get to grips with his name until half way through the film. Milla Jovovich gives a great performance as Leeloo. She really convinced me that she couldn't speak English anyway and I thought she did a fantastic job of looking terrified. She also looks amazing, very gamine and slender. Then there are the more comical actors. Gary Oldman is Zorg, who visually looks like Morticia with a really bad lop-sided hairdo. Gary Oldman does evil very well, so he is in his element here, able to ham it up at every opportunity. Chris Tucker is also in his element as the rather strange Ruby Rhod, who is incredibly camp and talks in a high voice. Lee Evans pops in for a cameo role in which he gets to act daft...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

PREMIERE EC3 - NEEDS TO BE MORE ROBUST

Advantages: GREAT DESIGN AND POTENTIAL: PUTS POWER IN YOUR HANDS
Disadvantages: HANGS OFTEN -BUGGY

...Premier has excellent potential and copes with high definition but really needs the Matrox Hardware acceleration (I installed this in June costing around £700 and it goes some way to deal with the instability, see below). I have used version of Premiere for years, both professionally and for home use. I enjoy using it - the only problem is that it crashes often and I have to restore my system from an early image after a few days as it corrupts quickly. As yet Adobe have not made a 64 bit system - but the 32 bit versions will last a while yet. I like the design and potenital - but cannot gve it five stars as it is too unstable (a problem reported frequently in Adobe technical forums). I am about to learn Vagus 8 out of necessity as I cannot afford to fix Premiere so often as I am turning professional again and need...
