Up up and away with Adria Airways!
Review of Adria Airways by
leofluffy69
Advantages: efficient, good service, free drinks
Disadvantages: no food served on board.
...A couple of years ago I was invited to attend a European convention in Slovenia. Quite excited I started looking for ways to get there. The year before, on my way back from Lanzarote, I was taken quite ill on the plane and spent a whole 4 hour journey on oxygen, later being met off the plane by an ambulance. I was not keen on flying so tried to find alternative ways of traveling. Coach seemed like a great idea, only *hint of sarcasm* 6 changes and only £300 odd quid. This idea quickly went out of the window as did the idea of train. The only other option I had was to fly… I looked up on many websites and found that the cheapest airline by far was 'Adria Airways'.
Adria, what?… I hear you ask.
ADRIA AIRWAYS
Adria Airways is an airline based in Ljubljana in Slovenia. Adria Airways is the national...

Adria -lly like to stay here again
Review of Adria Hotel, Edinburgh by
fizzytom
Advantages: Great location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Nowhere to plug in the hairdrier
...PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE A SAUNA,POOL OR SPA - I COULDN'T SEND MY REVIEW UNLESS I TICKED SOME OF THESE BOXES!
I must apologise for bringing the subject up again but it is due the usual combination of my itchy feet and my curiosity that I ended up at Edinburgh's Adria Hotel. You see, the previous evening I had been in Stirling to see my old chum Ian McNabb (ex-Icicle Works, remember them?) playing at the Tollbooth. Ian told me that he would be playing the next evening in Edinburgh and I decided that since I had enjoyed the show so much I would see him play again in Edinburgh - actually it was really because I did not want to miss anything - would Ian play different songs, who would be at the gig, these were questions I could not let lie.
With more than a degree of reluctance my long-suffering partner (he went along...

Salcombe Regis Caravan Park
Review of Camping/Caravan Park/Devon by
Aardvark10
Advantages: Spacious, clean, excellent for touring
Disadvantages: Not directly by the sea, not a huge amount for children to do.
...Salcombe Regis Caravan Park is the nearest site to the small resort of Sodmouth.
It is a very spacious site and the caravans are sited around the perimeter of a large field. The camping field is also large with sizeable pitches. The site is kept beutifully clean and tidy. It is a short walk to the village of Salcombe Regis and about 30 mins across the fields to the sea. Also within walking distance is the famous Donkey Sanctuary (free admission!)
This is an excellent site for visting the nearby resorts of Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Seaton, Branscombe, and Lyme Regis, and the inland towns of Honiton, Axminster and Exeter....

The Party is over - SAFETY UPDATE
Review of General: Macedonia by
From_The_Continent
Advantages: Beautiful nature & cultural sights, extremely cheap.
Disadvantages: Increased security risks in northern Macedonia, rather poor infrastructure.
...LATEST UPDATE (27.06.2001):
On June 26, 2001, both the British and German Foreign Offices have issued travel warnings for Macedonia. The FCO advises British Citizens who live in Macedonia to leave the country. Official information from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office on the situation in Macedonia can be found at the following website:
www.fco.gov.uk/travel/countryadvice.asp?MA
Meanwhile Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swissair and Adria Airways continue their services to Skopje, in addition to Adria Airways' daily flight from Ljubljana to Ohrid in southwestern Macedonia.
Here is my personal advice on the situation:
Overland travel in Macedonia is currently non-advisable, as most bus routes from Skopje to the south lead through the city of Tetovo, a battleground for fights between the Macedonian army and ethnic Albanian UCK...

Dream to tow
Review of Avondale Argente 640/6 by
lenni36
Advantages: Bunk space
Disadvantages: None
...I purchased my Avondale Argente in May 06 after seeing one at the caravan show. This is my third caravan and is by far the best one I have owned. The twin axle makes it a dream to tow with hardly any movement over bumps, almost not knowing you are towing a caravan. The thing that made me buy this model over lots of others that I had looked at while been at the show was the huge bathroom with shower cubicle. No more swiveling the toilet round, what a luxury! The shower is wonderful, there is plenty of room and it has shelving for your shampoo, shower gel etc. The main feature on this caravan that I must tell you about is the bunk space. On previous caravans I have owned the bunk space was not evenly spaced out so the bottom bunk had more head room than the top making it difficult for anyone to move on the upper bunk. The bunks...

Stargate SG-1 is Back With a Vengence!
Review of Stargate - The Ark Of Truth DVD by
Queenriderbrekke
Advantages: Solid storyline that ties up the loose ends of the series
Disadvantages: Need to have seen season 9 and 10 of the series to appreciate it
...Wow! What a surprise! Thanks Sky One for all the publicity surrounding the showing of this film (They were so busy publicising The Colour of Magic, that they almost forgot to mention this was on at all!!!!)
I had been waiting for this to come out, Stargate - The Ark of Truth, nicely rounded off the Ori saga and would not have meant a lot to anyone as a stand alone product, you really needed to have seen Stargate SG-1 Series 9 and 10 to have appreciated this story line.
The gang were all back (with the exception of Richard Dean Anderson).
Starring Ben Browder (Cameron Mitchell), Michael Shanks(Dr. Daniel Jackson ), Amanda Tapping(Cpt. Samantha Carter), Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and Claudia Black (Vala Mal Doran) the story takes up at the end of Stargate SG-1, Season 10. The Ori are supposedly destroyed, their leader (Adria) ascended...

I'm on the Pull
Review of The Caravan Club by
RobinLawrie
Advantages: Cost Effective, Great Sites, Certified Locations
Disadvantages: none
...Yes, I am the one that is pulling that caravan in front of you, and if you see me smiling, it is not, I assure you because I am forcing you to do less than 70 miles an hour, it is because I actually like caravanning and all that goes with it. One of the things that make caravanning so endearing to me is the Caravan Club. This organisation has 800,000 members, so it is obvious that I am not alone in my enthusiasm. Anyone contemplating buying a caravan, would be silly not to include membership of the Caravan Club in his or her plans.
Why is it that we join an organisation such as the Caravan club, instead of going it alone and making use of the hundreds of sites available? And what are the benefits of joining such an organisation? I will now explain why it is the shrewdest move you could make.
The cost of joining the CC...

Phillips
Review of Ruda Holiday Park by
Kazzalou
Advantages: Near the Beach
Disadvantages: Expensive for what you get and paying extra for swimming pool
...On a return visit - and after upgrading to supposedly a better caravan and paying the difference, all I can say that it was incredibly disappointing. Earwigs in the fridge and an oven looking like it had not been cleaned since the caravan was bought. Windows cracked, cobwebs everywhere and filthy crockery and cutlery. Verandah covered in ancient bird droppings and totally unsafe patio set. We had been given a private caravan that had become available but it was in a terrible state and quite unsafe in some respects. Upon complaining they were apologetic but following the holiday we were offered a mere £50 off our next holiday there with an explanation that unfortunately sometimes things go wrong. Certainly will not go again or recommend it. Staff were apologetic but considering we had been kept waiting in the car part for some 5...

Pleasant Natural Location
Review of Cherry Hinton Caravan Club Site by
polydeuces
Advantages: Close to Cambridge City Centre, beautiful clean site, lovely natural setting
Disadvantages: Not a lot of extra facilities
...When visiting some of the major cities in the UK it is not always possible to have a caravan site which is close enough to the city centre to cycle in. Sadly many cities are also not particularly cycling friendly either. Not so with Cambridge which has in Cherry Hinton a caravan park within a mile or so of the city and with excellent marked cycle paths to reach right into the heart of the city. Of course with its high student population all of whom seem to own a bicycle there are plenty of places where you can leave your bike safely.
Cherry Hinton Caravan Park is a typical Caravan Club site. It is kept immaculately clean by the on-site wardens who are usually retired or semi-retired Caravan Club members. They are always caravan enthusiasts and know what caravanners want, that is a quiet site with the facilities close to hand. Things...

A Lovely Site For A Quiet Holiday
Review of Dinlie Caravan Park by
polydeuces
Advantages: Well laid out, clean , excellent facilities
Disadvantages: Can get busy
...The Dinlie Caravan Park is an excellent base for a holiday or weekend break. About 5 miles beyond Caernarfon as you drive from Chester it has a quiet position only 300metres from the sea. There is a lovely small sandy bay which provides safe bathing shaded by a breakwater. The park has a number of hedges so although it has a large capacity it does not feel crowded. The caravan areas are flat and spacious and at most times there is room for outdoor games around your caravan. The site has a swimming pool which it is claimed is heated but we found it quite cold. I think you could describe it as invigorating once your teeth have stopped chattering.
The site also has a nice small club which has live music. Cheap and cheerful it might be in the club but it
has a friendly happy atmosphere. There is hot food of the chips with everything...
