Disadvantages: N/A

...The Blekin ADSL Modem with Built-In 802.11g Wireless Router is very easy to set up you could have it set up In minutes, you will be able to share your Internet connection and network your computers. I have had one for about a year now and I have had no problems with it what so ever. I have transferred files sheared my internet access with other computers in my house. The speed that this Router transfers at is excellent. The internet is much faster when wireless to up to 2 times faster. Belkin also give you a life time warranty so you dont have to worry about it breaking. The design of the route is very good small and light so you can fint it into places out of sight. ------------------ Key Features ------------------ Integrated 802.11g Wireless Access Point 802.11g is an exciting new wireless technology that provides up to 54...

ADSL Modem

Advantages: small, cheap, fast
Disadvantages: gets hot, not as cheap as USB only modems

...So this is the device needed to get the ADSL line working but how well does it work? Appearance = The first thing I noticed about this model is the colour of it. Its silver and this gives it a modern appeal. Its small and rather thin. It is only 2.8cm x 17.5cm x 11.8cm so makes it a compact modem. It is also light and weights in at 600 grams. When the modem is switched on, it has yello LEDs that light up to show if the power is on, USB, ethernet and if the ADSL line is there. System Requirements * ADSL Internet service from BT and your chosen ISP. I use Nildram. * Ethernet (netowrk) or USB connection on your PC * Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Mac * Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.7 or better - Tthis is so you can access the configuration menu. Box Contents * DM602...

Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Router; perfect home solution

Advantages: Reliability and value for money.
Disadvantages: Operating temperature.

...In my opinion this broadband ADSL router is one of the best on the market considering its price. I have been using this model (I've had different versions) for a number of years and never have I known one to fail; this is especially impressive considering I never turned them off when in use. I am a very heavy internet user and when configured correctly delivers on the speed that you would expect. In terms of 'plug and play', there is very little needed to be configured on this product to start surfing away and it comes with a single quick start sheet that shows clearly how to access the configuration page through a web browser initially. For more advanced users it is very easy to configure port-forwarding (useful when playing online games or downloading via peer-to-peer to achieve the desired connection speeds). It even supports VPN...

Blueyonder Cable to Zen ADSL - I was spoilt!

Advantages: Not being with the troublesome BT
Disadvantages: Support not keen to help at 4.30pm

...OK. Many people would say that living in a cabled area was akin to being born with a spoon in one's mouth. Whilst I was still at my parents', I took my lovely Blueyonder 1.5MBps connection for granted. I moved, from Southend, to Orsett, to a non-Telewest area, so the jump had to be made. I had heard so many bad things about BT's own ADSL [though I suppose you only *ever* hear the bad things], so I canvassed for recommendations for other ADSL ISPs. Zen was recommended to me, so whilst my old Blueyonder account was still active, I dialled up, got frustrated at the speeds, and hurriedly subscribed to Zen. I guess the first thing that struck me about Zen (and probably ADSL in general), was that, although they do not actually have to *do* anything at your premises, there is still a lead time of one week before 'activation' of your...

Netgear DG834PN Wireless ADSL Modem Router

Advantages: Facilities, easy set up, lights(!), stability
Disadvantages: Some backwards compatibility issues, lack of web executable filtering

...The Netgear DG834PN is the latest version of the DG834 and combines an ADSL modem with a wireless router and 4 port switch. In plain English, this plugs in your phone socket and allows one or more PCs to share the connection via either a wired or wireless link. The modem part is ADSL2+ ready and should work with even the fastest ISP offerings out there which as at Dec 2006 are around 12mbps in the UK. The setup wizard worked flawlessly and apart from the username and password, worked everything else out for itself and had the DG834PN up and running in a couple of minutes. As with most similar devices, further configuration is done via a web interface. The wireless section supports 802.11b and 802.11g as well as Netgear's own 802.11 Super G variant offering 108Mbps. The unit features 6 internal Antennas which constantly reconfigure...

Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG router - good???????

Advantages: good value for money, good security, very fast basic installation
Disadvantages: must read the manual for advanced settings, beware of 'lemons'

...Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - wireless router review After 16 months of use, my BT voyager 210 router exhibited symptoms of failing i.e. intermittent loss of connection, slow download speed even the ADSL line is clear. I bought this ADSL2/2+ modem from Amazon at £24.99 (good value) for my ADSL connection (I am not with ADSL2 yet) and this router confirmed that my BT voyager router was on its last leg. After installation, the download speed was back to usual. What's in the box In the box it comes with the wireless modem, DC adaptor, microfilter (only one, if you have >1 phone socket in the house, buy more), an ADSL telco cable, an Ethernet/CAT5 patch cable, a CD-ROM (contains only the electronic quick installation guide and a 'must-read' user manual) and a one page, double-sided quick installation guide. The microfilter...

ADSL4less

Advantages: Fast, Reliable, Cheap.
Disadvantages: High set-up costs for new users.

...I have had a ADSL internet connection for the past 3 years, of which ADSL4less has been my ISP for the last 8 months. I have had some terrible expieriences with previous ISP's and have ended up stuck with slow speeds and terrible customer service for 12 months. When i decided to migrate my ADSL connection ( change ISP) i decided to go for ADSL4less becasue there migration fee was only £15 and there was no 12 month contract. A minimum of 1 month was all that was required. However, set-up costs for new users i believe are currently around £60, please check the ADSL4less website for upto date figures. The migration all happened on time and before i knew it i was surfing the internet at mutch faster speeds with a much more reliable connection. I found dealing with the ADSL4less team easy and hassle-free, there were no problems and there...

D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router 4 Port

Advantages: Pick up a bargain ?
Disadvantages: Only 4 ethernet ports ?

...Another review from me for a discontinued item, but may be useful if you're loking to pick up a bargain item on ebay... The D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router has a built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)-enabled phone line, and with its 4 port 10/100Mbps ethernet switch, allows connections to lots of things (check out my other reviews for what it's connected to...). The DCHP server allows automatic allocation of IP addresses to all your network gubbins too - although I've set the IP's for my wireless accesspoint & print server to allow easier access to their brower based interfaces. The DSL-504 has a browser admin interface too for easy installation and setup, just type in the IP address (the default 192.168.0.1, as with most routers, but if it's changed you can always use the command line...

A great first Router with future support of ADSL2+

Advantages: Easy setup, good security, lots of features, great price
Disadvantages: not mimo compatible

...I was actually looking to buy a wired router for my home network, but when i came across this wireless one, which was only £4 more than an equivalent wired one, i couldn't resist, and i'm glad i didn't. It has all the credentials of being a great router. WPA 2 encryption (the strongest you can currently get to stop people hacking into your wireless network). It has an inbuilt ADSL modem capable of speeds up to 24Mbps when the new ADSL2+ protocol is rolled out (which has already begun in London and other major cities) 4 port 10/100 network switch, so you can connect 4 computers to it, and they can all share files and printers like in a normal network. It has a standardised pop-out connection for adding an external high-gain antennae. It looks great and takes up very little room. I has a SPI (Stateful Packet...

Supa?... Definately Not. REWRITTEN 30/08/08

Advantages: Very cheap
Disadvantages: Poor support, packages not "unlimited", lots of downtime, slow connection, high latency

..., however with the influx of new customers, Supanet has thrived. Early experiences I've been a Supanet customer since I bought a Time PC around eight or nine years ago. It, of course, came preloaded with Supanet software and having been offered a very interesting signup deal (of which I can't remember the details now), we switched from our old ISP (AOL) to Supanet. As far as I can remember, it was painless. The afternoon after buying the PC, I was connected to the internet. All good so far. In late 2004/early 2005, after an enquiry accidently became an order, I ended up with a USB modem at my door and a subscription to Supanet's 512kbps ADSL Service. Not being able to face the cancellation fee of the twelve month contract I'd ended up in, I decided I would trial broadband. Being a constant user of dialup internet, it wasn't that...
